The Vice Pro Plus compares more to the ProV1X. That would explain the feel difference. Anyway, I play the Vice Pro and love it. Great ball.

Thanks for the review James. I use Vice and I love them. At first I was a little sceptical, but having bought them and used them consistently over the summer I'm in love. I like supporting the brand and the quality is great. They work well for me, and free personalisation (offers come a couple of times a year) is brilliant. Please get these out on the course for a "real life" review.

I use Cut Grey golf ball; they're another brand that claims to compare to premium balls at far lower prices. As a mid-teen handicapper, I don't know that the difference between them and the Pro-V1s is at all important, but I'd love to see you compare the two. Cut grey (non-bulk) are $20 US, which are substantially less than the Pro-V1s.

I'm trying out the Vice Pro Plus, and have to say I'm very impressed. Hit a few drives in the 320-330 range yesterday, and even a 3 wood went around 310. Titleist NXT Tour S was my rock of choice until they stopped making them. After lots of experimentation I landed on Bridgestone E12 Soft. After your review last week, I bought a dozed TM Soft Response. First round with them was Sunday; LONG and straight, but the cover did not hold up well. One tree, one cart path, a couple wedges; 3 balls to get through one round. Going to play a round today with Titleist Velocity. Still searching but E12 is still the winner so far.

I've played ProV1 for years but a mate gave me a sleave of Vice Pro+ and I've really enjoyed them. For me, they react much like a ProV1x - A bit more spin than the ProV1 but a good ball flight. Great in the wind but the main difference for me is that they are less clicky off the putter (which is why I don't use the ProV1x). So if you want the spin characteristics of the ProV1x but the feel off the putter of the ProV1... this is th eball for you

Hey James, great channel, love your enthusiasm for the game! I've heard from a bunch of your fellow KZbinrs that one of the main selling points (and strong points) of the Pro V1 is the consistency in the manufacturing process. Each ball is high quality, ie good quality control. Some other manufacturers' balls, not so much. So that may be why Titleist has been the gold standard for a while now. You know you're getting a great ball every time. Keep those reviews and comparisons coming!

Great review James. I used Pro V1x for years and was off scratch for many years. I am not a long hitter at all but my short game was always very good - even if I say so myself. Changed to Vice after having an enforced break from golf due to injury - because of cost of losing balls from wayward shots being more likely. I just cannot get them to "drop and stop" on the green like you can with a ProV1x. They will spin for sure and putting there is no difference. But for Wedges or pitching into greens, I just cannot get the performance. So I agree you get what you pay for. I would say for a mid to high handicapper Vice is a great choice. Below that if you spin the ball into greens - ProV1 or ProV1x is very hard to better.

I’ve played both the Snell MTB-X and MTB-Black. The “X” sounds and feels really hard but really flies. Probably 5-7 yards farther than any other ball, including the ProV1 I’ve hit. The “Black” is softer and flies comparable to the ProV1. The big thing I noticed is both Snell balls don’t “ballon” when you hit them. They have great penetrating flight. $32.99 (US) per dozen.

I’d like to see more budget golf ball reviews. It’s by far the most consumed product in the game. While I love the club reviews, I think people would love videos on something they buy more of every few rounds than something like a $500 driver that they will be buying once every few years.

Snell MTB X and MTB Black are the best direct to consumer balls on the market. They don’t scuff unless you drill it into a tree and even then sometimes it’s not even a big scuff. The way I understood it the pro plus is supposed to compare to the proV1x and the Vice Pro is closer to the regular proV1. Vice Pro Plus is supposedly for driver swing speeds of 110 ‘plus’, hence the pro balls might go further if you’re only swinging around 108 ?? I tried the pro plus’s and found them harder to launch and chip around the greens with, currently gaming pro’s and really enjoying them, short game has improved a lot with a premium ball, wouldn’t fancy playing the pro plus’s in winter as they already feel quite hard and ‘clicky’ with wedges etc.

The Snell tests better. The detailed MyGolfSpy test had the Snell MTB-X finishing on top for distance and it was their overall best ball in all the testing. Vice is still solid, but also not as durable (you saw the paint on your wedge and when you held the ball up to the camera, we could see a piece of the cover already coming off after 3 wedge shots...that is the biggest complaint that other testers, like TXG, found with the Vice Pro). I tear them to shreds but don't tear up the Snell. That is the reason I changed.

I just bought a dozen Vice Pro's (which are more comparable to the Pro V1, Pro Plus = Pro V1x), but I haven't played with them yet. Buying 5 dozen (including shipping) = $28.38 per dozen ($2.36/ball). Pro V1's are $47.99/dozen ($3.99/ball). And I never see Pro V1's less than that. If they are close to the Pro V1's, I'm sure that will be my new ball.
@chrislutze11554 жыл бұрын
I play the vice pro. I tried the pro plus but they seemed to go shorter to me than the vice pro. Agree with comments about pro v bulk deals, but getting 8 dozen pro v's for 300 dollars US or getting 12 dozen vice balls for 300 dollars US, all shipping costs being equal, throws the pro v being as inexpensive as vice when bought in bulk arguement right out the window. I'd be willing to try the Snell balls if I wasn't in love with the vice...maybe next time.
