How about a bizarre cross disciplinary usage for the Pro 7? I have converted Pro 7 helmets to extreme whitewater usage. I love the adjustability scheme, and so I rip out the "7" clusters and replace them with extremely slow rebound closed cell foam L200 and an inner layer of neoprene foam. This give me 1) greater shock absorption, and 2) the ability to tailor the level of heat retention through the manipulation of ventilation configurations. For the coldest situations I simply eliminate all ventilation ports and place solid layers in the shock absorption area, and so comfortably paddle in air temperatures as low as 20 F even with water splashing up around and over my head. For better visibility, and not concerned about thin lacrosse stick hazards, I cut our the top center vertical and horizontal steel face mask section, leaving me a good sized rectangle to see through. I am still able to easily employ the adjustment screw and slider feature. I bet Virginia Tech, the leader in whitewater helmet evaluation, would tout my builds as the most protective in the industry BY FAR, and they are not even available for sale! Hell no, I am not selling one of these upon completion. They go to my kids and paddler buddies who venture the steepest creeks with me.

Hey Greg, Love the videos. I have a quick question pertaining to the Pro 7. On the facemask by the clip that holds the mask to the helmet, there is a small bead or ball on each side. Is that for attaching an accessory or something. I have a Pro 7 on my shelf and I have been racking my brain trying to figure it out.lol Helmets have come a long way since I played college with my trusty Bacharach Rasin 42LH.

The Pro7 is the best helmet of all time, especially for goalies. i dont get at all why this is the last helmet that fully covers the head and all the current helmets leave the back of the head/neck exposed
