Is the Q/SQ5 A Good Dad Car?

I love my SQ5 so much more than my A6 when it comes to having my kids in the back. So much easier to place the younger one in her seat with the better height. And in case of emergencies, the APR tune really helps too.

It's a GREAT Dad car. Extremely safe, comfortable, quick, sporty, luxurious. B9 2020 SQ5 (Have AWE non-res exhaust). Best in its class, IMO.

6:50 that can be fixed easily. Just remove the side plastic cover, remove the screws and insert o-rings between the screw & frame. That's where the noise comes from. Worked for me just fine

Older vid but thought I would comment. First off, great input. I had a 2018 SQ5 and the major annoyance was definitely the front passenger leg room. For my wife it was fine but if I sat shotgun it was pretty cramped with my son’s rear facing car seat. So much so that we ended up selling the car. He’ll soon be forward facing soon and I may pickup another SQ5 as they truly are fun family haulers. My daughter is in a high back booster and all fit great with no issues.

The front seat leg room is the biggest issue when child seat is rear facing. We had to sell our Macan for the same reason. Got a C7 A/S/RS7 - legroom solved and hatchback carries more (depth) as well.

B9 allroad has a bit more seat room for the infant and convertible seats vs the q5, but it’s close and the lower height of the wagon makes it harder to load the kid in. But man, love the Sepang sq5. I’ve been thinking about swapping the allroad for one.

Dad here! works perfectly. Agree about the car seat, once switched it was all good. The AWE exhaust is way too expensive and not worth it IMO.. It also doesn't sound good to me. My OEM sounds great to me with it fully open.

Had the same problem with my B9 and the carseat. It wasn't as bad though, as some others said it depends on the carseat type/brand. Plus helps that the wife is on the shorter side.

anyone fitting 3 kids comfortably in a Q/SQ5? I have mine in the age of 7-4-1. The 7-year old may use a booster, not sure if the other 2 (in seats) would still sit comfortably. Any experience sharing appreciated.

If you don't need to seat high I recommend A6 C7 they have same engine and more room for back and front seat with same price tag or cheaper

Is seat issue but the model of car seat or all seats have the issue. Sound like it depends on the child seat you use.

Yeah definitely depends but the baby seats definitely consume more space than the toddler seats!

For the first year of my older kid's life I had a MKV GTI...same color as your old one but DSG. Talk about struggling with car seats.

Great video. Im currently rocking an S4 B8 with 2 kiddos, with a 3rd on the way and no plans to sell her :^) the SQ5 should be plenty functional with 2 little ones 🤘

I know I’m late but the only reason I wanna get this car it’s because NYC potholes are getting out of hands so instead of a fast sedan/coupe car I think the suv is a much better option specially this one since you can tune them and add bolt ons and still be pretty reliable Plus I can listen to that supercharger whine all day long

Nuna gang fam! Also, the Clek Fllos and Foonfs are super easy to install and especially narrow if you need to do 3 across. No problem for 3 across in the Q7, but not many upgrade options available.

Still a mom car . Most Euro cars are not spacious or family friendly . My wife and I had a Chrysler minivan and it’s the most versatile car we’ve ever had. Unfortunately it was totaled and we opted for the Q7 Tdi . It’s and amazing car but my God they are tight in space and not for a big family. We also have a Ram 1500 and we mostly ride the truck in family trips . I can only imagine how small the Q5 is . It’s could a good one kid family car , but other than that not really .

I just moved to the Boston area and am looking at potentially getting an S4 or SQ5. I wanted an S3 because I love the size of it but with wanting to have a kid in the not so distant future, it might be too tight. Do you think an S4 would still be a good family car? I do like the SQ5 a lot but I’d like to maybe do an hpde or track day here and there so the S4 just seems like it’d be better suited to that. Thanks!

I think you have an open safety lock in the child seat that should be locked. it should only be open from the door side. if I'm wrong there is no topic. ps you can always turn off the passenger airbag and carry the child in front. There is an option to add an isofix to the front seat.

No sir, the seatbelt runs through the cup holder holes. That’s what you see “open”, the cup holder folded down. There’s an internal safety lock inside of the seat!!!
