I was originally going to get the Q3 as my first VR headset when it was announced but then I also wanted to play PCVR, so what I did was to get a used Q2 and then upgraded to BOBOVR strap and then use what remains of my intended budget and added a little bit more to get a decent PC, and I am happy with my purchase... playing the large library for my Q2 and enjoying smooth PCVR gaming on it has been the greatest decision ever. I might still get a better headset perhaps after a year or so but so far with what the Q2 gave me, it was an awesome experience... never cared for MR as i prefer my VR to take me away from the real world vs reminding me of it lol

I picked up my Quest 2 new on Amazon for 200 dollars and I love it. The only issue I've had is trying to play Elite Dangerous & Star Wars Squadrons, however those are common issues with a lot of headsets from what I've been reading. ED for some reason won't read the oculus controllers, but the one time it did was epic.

Thanks for this video i was kinda Scared My MQ2 will become a papper weight, this put the stress off of me thanks, Ik its the best headset Out there and nothing can compete with its Great Price, But i was just looking how like the Quest 1 come out in May 2019 While October 2020 the Quest 2 came out and know the Quest 3 is out 3 years later that was my main Concern cause it only took like a year for the Quest 1 to stop hitting selfs. But if the Quest 2 lasted for 3 years so far your right its not gonna end anytime soon.

I have been using an old Oculus DK2 but needed an upgrade as face foam has come off and the screens used do look very dated so was looking at the Quest 3 but I was able to get a new Quest 2 for under £200 for 128gb version so couldnt say no to that deal.

As a Quest 3 owner who upgraded from a Quest 2 I honestly recommend a quest 2 to most of the people that I know. Quest 3 is superior in every way. Quest 3 is a good upgrade over a quest 2. The higher resolution mixed with the pancake lens makes a pretty big difference. Not to mention the XR2 gen 2 chip being much more powerful than the Q2. And the color passthrough is amazing. I use that all the time. Much more than the Q2's passthrough. That being said at $250 Quest2 is an amazing value and a perfect entry level VR device. As you mentioned it won't lose support anytime soon. Quest2 stand alone games for the most part runs well and it's a good PCVR headset as well. If you have the money Quest3 is better but Q2 at $250 is a steal.

As someone that owns both a Quest 2 and a Quest 3, the Quest 2 is still VERY viable due to cost and performance. The Quest 3 is very nice with the new pancake lenses and clearer visuals….HOWEVER, most games are going to be developed with Quest 2 in mind with a graphical upgrade patch for the Quest 3, so for games that DO NOT have the patch, you get to see the blurry pixels clearer 😂😂😂🤩 also controller tracking with the Quest 3 is NOT as good at the Quest 2, I had to upgrade to Pro Controllers because the Quest 3 loses tracking so often 🤦🏻‍♀️🤡 Get the Quest 2.

It varies quite a bit, many games are under 3GB but some go as high as 10GB each.

I'm buying the Quest 3. I have the 2 and it really is pretty cool but the 3 is a fairly big improvement especially the graphics. The quest 2 is a great buy if you can't afford the 3.

Fair point, and yeah like I had said the Quest 3 is better in every way spec wise (other tha wireless runtime) but for most people it's hard to justify the 2x or more cost for the Quest 3 over Quest 2. Hope you enjoy it when you get it!

It’s not about not being able to afford it . I say for people that dabble into VR and is really not that into gaming that use it to watch KZbin or movies from sites on websites or just to workout get the quest 2 . If you are a gamer that wants good graphics that focus on every detail saying how amazing it looks get the quest 3 . My aunt use the my quest 2 if she had a quest 3 she would be wasting it because the things she does with it doesn’t take advantage of the processing power or the graphics of the quest 3 , she use it for like 40 minutes and don’t touch it for like 2 days . The quest 2 is for people like her even though she can afford to by 100 quest 3’s she doesn’t need it .

It will be interesting to see how this video ages. There's a big leap in CPU and GPU capability with the Quest 3, whereas the Quest 2 really suffered from being underpowered, and this had a lot of impact on limiting game development, not just in terms of graphics but also in the scope of game play. This had real impact. Many Quest 2s were sold, but the attach rate is very low. All of the Quest 2s out there collecting dust on shelves might as well not exist as far as developers are concerned. That's something like a 10 to 1 ratio between Quest 2s that were sold versus Quest 2s that are actually used. So even though Quest 3 hasn't and won't sell in as great numbers due to its higher price, the shift in actually active users who will buy games is and will be much larger than it might at first appear. These pressures will tend to cause Quest 2 support to be relegated to second class status and ultimately left behind relatively quickly. And this is especially true if the rumored Quest 3 lite based on the same upgraded chipset comes to market soon for around the same price the Quest 2 is selling at now. If you already have a Quest 2 right now, there's no great urgency to upgrade to Quest 3 yet. But buying a new Quest 2 right now is a dead end with considerable risk that it won't have much effective lifespan left. I think the best argument there for extending its life is the PC link capability. If that's all someone wants to buy a Quest 2 for, then it's still an effective option that will remain supported indefinitely. It's also an area where the Quest 3 offers relatively fewer advantages (really just the much better lenses... which is substantial in itself, but not a must have). But if you're looking to play Quest exclusive games, I wouldn't recommend buying a new Quest 2 at this point.

NOPE. With the newer games starting to be exclusive to Quest 3 Alien whatever and that Batman one, it'd be a waste to get the Quest 2. Just save your money.
