Good work showing the new radio man. I'm still going to be running my mambo at least for a while. Things are still moving so fast in this hobby and I'm happy with what I get out of the mambo . I wish it felt a bit less cheap but I can deal with that. And I wanted to say that I'm hoping things work out next time Tidwell is up there with you that I get to tag along this time and get a chance to meet and hang out with you. It rained me out last time. You have been one of my favorite pilots since I first started looking into this hobby about a year before I got my fist quad so I'm really looking forward to it and Tidwell had nothing but good things to say about you as well so anyway . Looking forward to the next video too. You should post more flight videos dude even if there not epic I still like to watch you fly .

Man this looks like a great radio. I really like my tx16s max but this radio is really tempting. Looks like it would fit in my bag better, and it's 1w internal and has a bigger battery. Also very interesting that you use 2 switch arming setup in edgetx and not on betaflight, I always use prearm in betaflight and never thought to set it up on the radio. I will have to look into that! RIP TBS...

New subscriber. Fantastic review. I just ordered the 2.4 version. Would love a receiver protocol setup tutorial. Being new to the FPV quad hobby. ELRS has been challenging. I'm sure once I've finally been able setup a few different quads, I'll have Lua script wired.

Thanks for this review! Im returning to the hobby after a few years break and considering replacements / updates to my venerable x9d. Most of the folks I fly with are on the tx16s now, but that thing feels so freaking big to me! Just before my pause I was super interested in the game-controller style radios, but this looks like a reallyy good option as well.. compact without sacrificing a soliid radio! Also as someone else who does not use a radio strap its good to see your comments on handling when NOT flying.

That's funny - Same here - Returning after a couple of years out. So much has changed. No ELRS module in the X9D, which is on community-support for Edge-TX by the way. And the X9D's (micro) USB port is pretty worn out from all the sim flights and disconnecting now and then. It's a no-brainer.... Ordered the Boxer last week. Maybe 3D print some grippier stick-ends and a stand and we're good to go.

Hey Kevin, I have been flying with my Xlite and crossfire, and I have been thinking about switching to ELRS since more F.C. are coming with ELRS built-in. I just purchased the Jumper XIAKE 800 VTOL, and it comes with ELRS, so I'm going to switch. I have arthritis and I can't use a full-size radio anymore. I like the T12, but I think this one is better. I can't wait until I can order it. Thanks again for the video and information about the Boxer Radio

Worth noting when comparing the mambo to the boxer. The mambos switches are soldered onto the board as opposed to the boxer just disconnecting a plug and plugging in your new switches for when/incase they break. Thank you for the teardown!

Very thorough review! I've just ordered the ELRS version to replace my Zorro. It was my first radio and initially used thumbs but have switched to hybrid pinch. It's been a good radio but it's not really suited to that grip style. The Boxer looks like exactly what I've been looking for, plus the 1W output will be a nice upgrade too

That same big battery is for the tx16s also not just boxer.. also radiomaster sells a kit to make your tx16s have a removable antenna just get v2 version if yours is a v2 tx16s... Thanks for the great video on it ...i love the way the boxer looks just cant justify when i have a tx16s max mark ii w/ago gimbals already

Yes it will fit but the tx16s still draws a lot more power and will not run for 20 hours on that battery. I get it. I'm loving the feel of it but I'm struggling with which one is my favorite right now. I am leaning strongly towards the boxer atm though.

Hi. Just starting, have questions. Other videos have said that ELRS is the way to go for range. I know that's not everything, but for the moment it's my focus. Please tell me if I have this right. The 4-in-1 Boxer can do 0.25W ELRS and 3 other things I've yet to delve into, while the ELRS-only can go up to 1.0W. I also know external modules exist. So, if I got the 4-in-1 and the external ELRS module, could I push 1.0W? I like having all the options if I can. Secondary question: is Range proportional to Flight Time? Ultimately, I'm working on a device that can fly around within an enclosed space without having to recharge every three minutes.

It is nice to see better mambo with elrs, without soldering everything to pcb, nicer gimbals, trainer port. One downside would be lack of internal antena, so it slightly less convienient to pack in backpack I think I am going to sell my mambo, due to quite dissapointing and expensive tracer and lack of trainer port.

Hey Kevin, i've had a bunch of radios over the years too. Im currently using a Tango 2 and debating switching to the boxer. Could you use the six buttons above the screen to switch output power and have a quick visual reference of said output power?

Yes to switching. The light of the six buttons could be your indication. Otherwise maybe use the fm2m lua. I’ve got it but I didn’t show it off in this video.

I thing a bit of 3Dprinting and soldering should do the job. also why 2 USBs, is it too difficult to add charging to one port?

I'm kinda pissed at myself here and Radiomaster. I gave up on the Mambo in September (user from release). Absolutely loved the form factor, but wanted EdgeTX and better ELRS future support. Picked up the TX16s MK2 JB. Ripped out the side trims and top switches to get more of that Mambo feel. Wish I would have known this was on the horizon. I would have held on a little bit longer. Sigh... and all the pre-order BS just needs to stop. Oh well... /rant

Honest question: Are the full size AG01 hall gimbals worth adding at the same $140 cost of the rest of the radio? I've never had a chance to get a test in person and can't help wondering if it's actually that big of a difference in quality to be worth doubling the cost of the radio. Not saying it isn't, just curious.

That is a fair question. For me I believe it is worth it. But that is because I have been doing this a long time and I have a ton of stuff. Would I upgrade the gimbals if I was still using some crappy goggles? No I would upgrade that first. Would I upgrade gimbals if I still had just one charger with one channel? No. I would get a better charger and or more chargers/charging channels. But if you are happy with all your other gear and have all the aircraft you want etc it is a very worthwhile upgrade. I know that doesn’t help answer if it is worth it for you but I stand by it being a worthwhile upgrade. I would pay 300$ for this radio with ag01. It is worth that price.

The nice thing is you can upgrade your radio today and the gimbals when you have some extra cash. I’m flying the boxer now but I haven’t upgraded the gimbals yet.

Just keep in mind if you buy a Radiomaster, their 1 year warranty is almost non-existant. If your radio dies int eh first year, and you really twist their arm, they'll have you send it back to your local hobby store, who will DFU reflash it, send it back to you, it will work a few more times, and then you'll be like... WTF. You'll try two more times sending it back to the hobby shop, and then finally give up and buy a Jumper. not joking. Got the tshirt. Their radio plastic looks pretty, which is why people defend them fiercely, but they aren't the most durable.

I don’t Like the cheap feeling of it (coming from a Radiomaster tx16S + ELRS price ist 180€ in Germany (fixed everywhere) I can sell my tx16S (Stock v1, in perfect conditions) for 190€ so I basically just switch from a ultra premium feel to a cheap feeling…it’s hard for me, but I can put the boxer in my bag withouth any big case and don’t need to worrie about breaking antenna/switches….unjust wish the boxer would have a more premium touch feeling it feels aweful to me

Mambo, quality control at the firstbatch its bad.. I've using tbs mambo, 3 times get brick, its hard to say the system that tbs using its good but I'm tired, maybe i will using this tx now from radiomaster, it build with precision and good qualiti control,

@@BoosiveFPV Wouldn't say it's pointless. I'm using a crsf LITE in mine and I use the kickstand all the time for resting the radio or for an external 2s liion pack for the crossfire. The issue was one of the screws would be spinning in place. I solved it by putting some selotape on the screw then screwing it in.

For me looks a QX7, and I prefer la qx7 as it is paid, any other radio as zorro by size look more interesting for me. Yeah, basically is a qx7.
