I love you Wiley because you are like MacGyver you know how to do so much and if you don't know how you figure it out. That is a special talent not many have... Jenn you keep him in check :) fun to watch you both!

Janice, Wiley is the PERFECT man, in my opinion. He is smart, sweet and would give someone the sheet if his back. I love that he can build pretty much anything. He is very talented and I appreciate him more than words can express. ☺️

gotta love the weight of the lithium batteries and don't forget you can't charge them when it's freezing outside it has to be above freezing

@@OurMountainHome316 yes, lithium batteries can not work if they get cold. It will shorten its overall life too. So build an insulated box and in the winter it will need heat. But no off gassing like the lead acid batteries. Lead acid just needs insulated box and a low breather hole to off gas. So never install lead acid inside.

Hello jenn an wiley good job on gettiting a solar system battery 👋👍👍

So glad for the collaboration. I would say the battery is heavy.
@denisewilson83677 ай бұрын
50 pounds for that big size battery is very light. Standard lead acid batteries are extremely heavy. And would require 3 of them to do the job of this one battery.

@@OurMountainHome316 That is my plan also. Build it as money comes
@denisewilson83677 ай бұрын
You can do that with the connectors, fittings, wire, switches, bus bars. BUT you CANNOT do that with batteries. If you hook an old battery to a new battery the old battery doesn't charge 100% so that will stop the new battery from charging to 100% too. All Batteries must be newly bought at the same time at install. You can't buy one now and "save it" until you get 11 more then install them. The first battery will have less charging ability than the last battery bought.
@roberthealey72387 ай бұрын
In the longer term you might want to consider 48V system since it reduces the wiring costs significantly; more volts means less copper I.e. much less $$$$$ than using 12V/24V which need much thicker wire, i.e. much more $$$, to carry same amount of power.
@denisewilson83677 ай бұрын
Speaking of wire, only use 100% copper. Never aluminum or aluminum coated copper for your solar. There is a chart on line to tell you the size wire to use for the distance you need for your run. If between one or another go always with the bigger capacity size wire. NEVER short change or downsize.

50 pound 300Ah 12 volt battery would work perfect for me at my off grid home. I have a propane fridge /freezer combo, I use 1 - 12 volt light and 3 USB rechargeable lights for interior lighting. I charge my cell phone, and tablet. I charge my USB rechargeable flashlight/spot light, my 4 ft long USB rechargeable auto repair light(hangs from hooks under your hood to work on engine), and I run my 12 volt fan to cool in summer or circulate heat in the winter. In the summer I have more than enough power, even here in Michigan. But in the late winter January & February I can barely keep two lights & my phone charged on 2 80Ah 12 volt deep cycle batteries. I could use that new battery of yours for winter.

Contact other battery sources to get more batteries a s.a.p. so you don't lower your capacity to link them together.
