Well, people who dream about fair distribution of wealth aren’t ‘extremists’, but dreaming about something doesn’t make it happen. ‘Winning from the centre’ isn’t about policies, it’s about statistics and refers to the bell curve. I’m so glad Matt is satirising this. So much coverage about how many seats Reform got, but it was a third the number they were projected to win. Lib Dems, on the other hand, absolutely cleaned up. The Greens got more seats than ever, but not a word about that. I get that Reform got a lot of votes, but you do actually have to win your little bit of the country. And I’d wager a lot of right wing voters just went that way because a Labour victory had been predicted for years. They may well drift back to the conservatives in the next election.

Very confused what anyone means other than trying to vaguely indicate 'bad' in some way without saying how (that applies to the term centrist, left, far left and hard left also). What do they MEAN?!

It all began in 1798, when the king of France was deposed and the commoners filled the parliament. Like-minded people sat together, as they do, and soon you had those who were content to have seized power for themselves on the right, and those who felt that this was just the beginning and a lot more work was yet to be done on the left. The conservatives and the progressives, as it were. Then the pope of Rome weighted in with an encyclica that suggested a third way: Keep the landed aristocracy out of power, but otherwise restore the feudal order. They called this the centre position.
