Thank you for the demo. It was great to see how easy it is to get in and out of.

I have been watching your reviews of the Scorpion fs26. I should be getting mine this spring with the Shimano Steps EP8 crank motor and a Rohloff hub. About the only extras I am getting are the wrist supports. Now I have see how I will cope with my 73 year old body that has survived 1 stroke and 1 heart attack. The COPD is a bonus for 40 years of smoking with both hands. I quit in 2009. I have astma and shortness of breath that makes balancing on a normal bicycle very difficult and dangerous. Hopefully I can build up my lung capacity.

That would be terrific for someone who has problems balancing or who no longer has 100% of their strength in the legs. Looks like fun as well. A great review!

Well said. Those two issues apply to many seniors. The new TRIOT trikes are great in that department, but they don't fold.

I have the same Scorpion. It exists in 2 hight, ik have the lower one, in the film you see the extreme high one. I have put myself a Bafang 350watt color display middrive motor. With my 17amp battery i have a range of 100km. For my girlfriend i have the Scorpion fs20, same motor. Her son rides a HP Gekko. My Scorpion plus came in the place of my Sinner comfort deu to my Parkinson disease. This is the best trike i had. The ICE sprint was also a good trike but to low for me.

Martin Devriese that's great you have the same trike, it's an amazing piece of engineering. I loved it and if money was no object I would consider a lower one, I have two velomobiles which I am super happy with and would like a quattro velo one day to carry the baby in 😊

TRIOT trikes, and the Terra Trike Rover are also much higher for seniors and others who are balance challenged and/or strength challenged.

The trouble with trikes is they can look like wheelchairs if they are not low and extreme enough. But e trikes make sense. More aero so not wasting juice pushing against wind.

Equal parts awe, surprise, and curiosity from those who see you pass.

For you, as a young and lean rider, the regular profile HP Velotechnik Scorpion FS would be more desirable IMO. Even with a higher seat, the handles on your test model are equipped with higher handle posts to grab on to for getting down into and back up and out of the seat. In other words, you got a senior oriented model of the HP Scorpion. The wheels in the front are also super wide. Wider than what most active riders are comfortable with. Test ride a TRIOT trike once you finally get one over there to test ride.

The more I see of these the more I understand what I need. At the moment this seems to be the one I would like. It's interesting that the touring riders I have questioned who ride with not electric assist tend to ride 90-140 Klm each day here in Australia. One charge is more or less going to get you that far. How long does it take to charge one of those batteries would be my unanswered question.

About 6 hrs I reckon

This looks amazing! Is the motor on your Plus 26 part of the basic set-up, or is it optional? Fun video. (And that your acquaintance Pete should glide up alongside you is great, because he asks all kinds of questions that viewers probably have.)

ERIN478 cheers 🍻 the motor is an option as far as I can recall. www.bikefix.co.uk

Here, in the States, we need to have wattage that won't exceed 20 m.p.h. unassisted speed on the trails. Probably 75 watts only for the battery assist.

There is a huge market out there for trikes with a higher seat and therefore much easier for seniors and others who are balance and/or strength challenged to get down into and back out of again. TRIOT trikes and the Terra Trike Rover are two such models. They are both American made and it will take some time before either one appears in England. ICE trikes are English made and we'll have to see if they come out with such a model. Catrike in Orlando, Florida doesn't have such a niche model either, but they are an innovative company.

You mean the ice adventure? ICE has more accessibility options/parts for their trikes than most other brands do. A higher seat can also increase touring enjoyment by letting the rider see more and further around herim, most people tour for the sceneries, on a low tourer I would get quite annoyed by tall grass or railings obstructing my view of the countryside.
@StellarFella5 жыл бұрын
@@Finnv893 Yes. I agree. The Scorpion Plus has a higher and more forward tilting seat. It is tilted 46 - 54 degrees and has a seat bottom about 22 inches from the ground. You see everyone and everyone sees you much easier.

Just spoke to Stuart and he says around £4000 without motor and £6000 with.

The HP Velotechnic FS is easy to tip on corners. If you don't plan on turning sharply at high speeds, they do run very smooth. I just don't like rolling over..!

does it have reverse gear?
@velo-ads42067 жыл бұрын
Tadeusz Bros unfortunately no
@RecumbentPDX7 жыл бұрын
Of course it has reverse. Hold the "-" button on the remote (the black ring to the right of the Evo display) and gently push the trike backwards with your foot. Be careful, though, if you're out of gear, you'll tear the derailleur right off!
