I was hesitant at first to get Shadow but then I remembered I was paying 15 CAD for Netflix each month. I am going to cancel Netflix and instead get Shadow for 15 bucks a month. This service seems to have great value indeed. You can use this for 8-9 years instead of building a gaming pc (and no repair costs, dealing with updates). I think that they came up with a very well positioned product!

Remember Shadow doesn't use Dedicated Gaming GPU! They use workstation GPU! There Boost plan is a Quaddro P5000 which is equivalent to a GTX 1080 an the CPU is a pretty bad bottleneck in gaming. Just fair warning. Also they dont always keep there server updated. Its actually the most stable driver out. Had to update my Quaddro from 151.57 to 152.57 because they didnt update the GPU to the newest driver.

I wonder how often they “upgrade” your hardware. It seems when new hardware becomes available a subscriber is not upgraded but rather given a more expensive subscription offer. I've been subbed to Shadow since Oct 2019. I'd rate the $11.99 /mo tier (which was much more when I originally subbed), I find the performance... average. But, flexible. I can hop between old windows PC, five year old MacBook Pro, or my phone seamlessly. I might try using it for VR on the MacBook, but I haven't got around to it yet.

I'm spending about $20~$40 a month on an AWS EC2 with eight virtual cores, 16GB ram, and 512GB hard drive, and an AWS TESLA M60. I can do anything I want on it just like Shadlow. If I use it a lot the $40 price tag is a bit much. However, I save money. You see, I don't buy big studio games. I warez them. With Amazon, you can encrypt your hard drive and hide your traffic from them so that they don't know what you're doing on your device. Is this possible with Shadow? Can I use torrent on Shadow? Will they catch me playing unlicensed games? I like the idea of a consistent monthly price that I can just budget into my life regardless of how much or little I use the service. I just need to be able to keep up that pirate lifestyle.

Been using Shadow since Dec of '21, and I gotta say, I love it.... I (currently) don't have a PC capable of handling any sort of gaming, and I've been strictly a console gamer ever since my Atari back in the early 80's, but Shadow helped bridge that gap and barrier to entry. It's pretty nice because there are just some games (especially fan-made games) that'll never hit consoles, and so I've always wanted to have a gaming PC that could play those titles without breaking the bank... plus, the fact that you can use it anywhere there's a solid internet connection makes it pretty versatile... just short of having a gaming laptop that u can plug here n there. My use cases are via app on my Google TV, app via Shield TV, and mobile app via Samsung DeX connected to a portable monitor! I DO plan on getting a mid-range gaming laptop at some point... just wondering if Shadow will be worth the subscription once I do? Thoughts?

its up to 30 euro now, for more or less the base plan (GT1080, 4 core CPU). I can buy a laptop with better specs than that for 1000. It also says my internet connection is too unstable anyway. I'm sure the specs will be upgraded going forward, and that you can upgrade on the fly, but it still doesn't seem worth it yet.
