Hi, I used the SM58 today with the Bose S1Pro + set to it's EQ setting. I couldn't get it loud enough. I had it turned up to about 10 past 12 on channel 1. I was a bit worried to turn it up more. I actually pushed my voice because I couldn't hear that well. I might have to send the speakers back sad to say. I bought them because of the name and weight and to be wireless.

Hey glad to hear you got to try them both out at a gig. Unfortunately, the preamps plugging a Shure SM58 mic directly into the speaker the volume needs to be at 1-3 o clock on the dial to get good volume, this is normal for the Bose S1 Pro+. (The original S1 Pro you had to take it to almost full volume to get that sound high enough.) So they made an improvement on the Pro+ versions at least. Try turning the volume up to 1 or 2 or even 3 o clock on the dial. Don't be afraid, its normal. Another idea is to change your mic to the Shure Beta 58A, its a "hotter" mic, so you may get naturally more volume from it, but on "some" voices can be harsher, but still a great mic. I will work on some microphone comparisons on my channel, since i have the beta 58A too. its on my list of videos to make soon. Keep practicing with different volumes, its still a GREAT system and worth keeping in my opinion. But i understand your concerns with it right now.

Thank you so much for your great advice and getting back so quickly. The reason I tried the EV was because I knew it had high gain. But it was just too bright. So maybe I will look at the Shure you suggested. The funny thing is I have quite a loud voice and I like to sing out as I do Swing and Showtunes etc. So I like to hold the mic at least 6 inches from my mouth, unless I am singing very soft. So I get a bit confused as to what would be best for my voice. Cardioid or supercardiod or other. I hate kissing the mic. I am a performer so they have to see my face. Thanks again 😊 @TheSonicSpectrum
