I got the 24-50 G today. I plan to replace my 24-70 GM ii on my FX3 with the 24-50 because I rarely go past 40mm with that camera. With out even shooting with the 24-50 and Fx3 setup the weight difference seems to feel like a good fit. The Sigma 20-40 was on my list but once I got the Sony a9iii I decided to not buy anymore non-Sony lenses that shoot still at at 20fps or higher.

Dude - awesome review. I bought the 24-50G last week and have been loving the results. You are spot on about changing the focus point makes a huge difference in how sharp the image is in THAT focus area. I agree that it's got great character in bokeh. Like you, I also appreciate the light weight and size. My daily carry is now A7Cii with 24-50G + 85/1.8 - it's an amazing setup.

That is a pretty solid set up. Ngl, a nice wide compliment might be the Samyang 14mm, or the 18mm which is also decent and small, but are budget options. The Sony 20mm 1.8 is sharper than half the G Masters ive used, its an excellent lens period. Its useful in really dark places, i was shooting in night clubs, and my 2.8 zoom was still too noisy on my A7iv. I had the 14mm 1.8, and it was killer. If you don't need ultra wide or low light, then you're straight. Just wanted to help out.

I sold my 24-40 for this and don't regret. It's a very good lens, with a point of character and very confortable and useful focal range. And you can crop it to 75 in apsc...

I find Tamron 20-40mm range a lot more useful. It has nothing to do with vlogging. I mostly take stills, and comparing FLs at Lightroom, there are as many pictures taken under 24mm as over 24mm and few pictures are taken at longer than 35mm. The short end is a lot more desirable, and actually 16-35 is my favorite.
@stevenwaldstein22494 ай бұрын
I’m only a stills shooter but I’m sold on the size/weight of the 24-50/2.8 G and bought it. Still own my f/2.8 GM II trinity but for now use them on my A7RV and A1. The 24-50/2.8 G lives on either my A7CR or A7CII in my travel bag. Considering the 16-25/2.8 G as well but already own the Sigma 16-28/2.8 DG DN which is also pretty small and an internal zoom so in the end it can be smaller than the 24-50/2.8 G. Always enjoy your videos. Thank you and take care.

Bro so true about the BS like focus breathing! I see focus breathing in all Hollywood movies and Netflix series. It looks organic and natural to me. It’s not a flaw. And now cameras are compensating for it. Blown out of proportion. I bought this lens, did a photoshoot with it and I don’t think I’ll be changing the lens on my camera 90% of the time.

I would have liked a 16-25 & 24-50 2.0 or 20-50 2.8 much more useful. While I really do like what Sony is doing here, I feel that there is not enough focal range to warrant the price especially when there are so many really good 24-70 2.8 on the market.

Hey Vu: Hope you don't mind me asking you how the ZV-E1 holds up to professional shooting. I ask because the only Sony cameras I have owned are (older) aps-c sensor cameras (a6000, a6300, a6500, a5100) and they always overheated on me. I know the FX30 is designed to not overheat and would work with my various Sony aps-c lenses I still have lying around, but since I do shoot a lot of real estate films, I think I might miss the extra stop-and-a-half of dynamic range that full-frame Sony's have over aps-c sensor Sony's (and I often shoot around ISO 4,000 too). Or do ireally have to go for something like an FX3 or a7S III to have a camera I can use for several hours / all day? Thanks in advance.

Damn, just when i decided not to go for 24-50mm, you just convince me to relook at the lens. I have PZ 16-35mm f4, two primes 50mm and 85mm.. i was thinking to go all out for one system lens to-do-it all with for 24-70mm GMII, but due to the weight on my ZVE1, i hold that decision. As for 24-50mm the weight is under 500gram and is great for ZVE1. Yet the 20mm short of 70mm really got me thinking. I guess i have to wait your next video and see what do you think about 70mm focal length. Will you sell 24-70mm GMII for 24-50mm? Is it worth the sacrifice? 😊 i’m also the D when it comes to lenses.

I'd prefer Sony 20-70 f4 instead of both. Loss of 1 stop of light is not an issue with modern Sony FF cameras in my opinion.
@nVuFilms6 ай бұрын
It's not about the loss of light. If you are capturing a person full body... At f4 there I no subject separation. At that point .. might as well grab your cellphone and take a photo instead. F/4 is not enough. Matter of fact... F/2.8 is minimum to film a properly lit wedding reception at 12800iso on slog3. F/4 is useless to me

@@nVuFilms DOF at 70mm f4 and 50mm f2.8 is about the same I guess.. Most of clients anyway can't see the difference between f2.8 and f4, even in wide end :) If I need extra subject seperation I'll go with the primes, but for general use f4 is pretty enough, imho.
