Hey! Yeah, you can use any Sony E-Mount lens for the A7 IV. However, in this video I was using the Sony GM 16-35mm f/2.8 lens. It's a big lens but a beauty. Takes great images!

You have to buy a Godox for canon. Sounds weird by it works and corrects the color issue. I shoot Sony also

I am also a Sony shooter, but on a crop sensor a6400. When I tried the Sony version of the Godox transmitter, I did get weird color casts. When I switched to a Canon version flash transmitter, color issues went away. I believe Nathan cool talks about this on one of his videos.

Great video mate, thanks! I am looking at getting the A7RV though as it has the larger/higher res screen that I am used to on my Nikon D780 (my eyesight isn't what it used to be, lol), plus the 61mp sensor though I know is overkill for REP. Have you used this at all?

Hey Nested Photo School, I am deciding between buying the FX3, A7SIII or the A7IV. I do about 90-95% video. I am a filmmaker and I also like to shoot music videos and want to get into content creation as well(i.e. videos for KZbin like short films/music videos or regular talking head videos/vlogs and photography for Instagram). I also do a bit of photography, but I don't shoot for print. I want to get into ways of making money in the next 3-5 years like wedding videography/photography, real estate videography/photography and hopefully even product videography/photography. The obvious choice seems to be the A7IV, but I worry about the usability in client work due to the overheating with video. My budget is about $4,200. I do not have any lighting, but could choose to shoot outdoors or with natural light while I save for lighting. I do not have any lenses, but if I buy the FX3, I would probably buy a cheap and decent prime lens(24mm or 35mm) until I save up enough for another lens. I do not mind the technical challenge haha. Ideally, I would buy the A7IV and use the other $1,200 on lighting and lenses, but I am afraid it will limit my confidence in working with clients because of the known overheating that I have heard about(someone told me that theirs overheated within ten minutes while they were only scrolling through the menu). Based on all of this and what I want to do, should I buy the FX3 or the A7IV? Or maybe you propose I get the A7SIII? Sorry for the long question. Thanks! P.S. If I go for the FX3, I would have to use it for my paid gigs as well as my personal filmmaking and content creation cam, because it would be the only camera I have. Would this be ok? Thanks again!
@NestedPhotoSchool2 жыл бұрын
Great question! I have owned all 3 cameras and have used them extensively. For Sony cameras always make sure that the over heating settings are switched to high. When we took our FX3 out on our first paid gig it over heated and we had to break for 10 min to wait for it to cool down. Turns out I had forgotten to switch the overheating level to high!! Ouch! I won't make that mistake again. That is the only time with all 3 camera's that they have over heated on me. I have been using the A7 IV everyday Monday-Friday for work and it has never overheated on me. EVEN when I was doing a large outdoor video shoot and it was 101 degrees!! And I was even shooting some slow motion footage of water falls and pool. The image coming out of the A7 IV is just as good as the A7S III / FX3. My main concern about the A7 IV before I purchased it was the rolling shutter. I shoot most of my video on a gimbal or a tripod. So as it turns out the rolling shutting has been none issue for me. If your style is shooting a lot handheld or shooting very fast motion like car racing, house racing, sports then I would go with the FX3 since it's rolling shutter is the best. I made a video showing how I used the FX3 for my main photography camera for 4 months while I was waiting for my A7 VI to come in. So with how little you'll be shooting photos the FX3 will more than cover it. However, the price point and image quality from the A7 IV is amazing! I would buy the A7 IV and spend the extra money on quality glass/lenses! Hope this helps!

That’s killer! When I transition from the A7 III to A7 IV it was fantastic! You’ll love it! Beast of a camera. We actually have an in house team at Nested Tours that does all my real estate photography editing. At Nested Tours we built out a custom uploading system that automatically does our HDR bracketing processing for us then the photo editors download those images from the website and run them through Lightroom / PS. I’ve thought about making a video on our editing system and how we do things. Would you be interested in that?

I'm a real estate photo/video person, too- using the A7III with the Sony 16-35 f4. I'm considering the A7IV but hesitating because of the 4K 60p crop. When shooting 4K 60 for real estate, if you do, what lens do you use to mitigate the crop and get the width you need? Thanks much!
@NestedPhotoSchool2 жыл бұрын
I was fearful of it as well but it’s turned into a none issue for me. Normally I shoot at 30fps then slow it down to 24fps then when I have movement in the frame I’ll switch over to S&Q mode and shoot 60fps slowed down to 24fps. Basically anytime I want slow mow shots they are detail shots and the crop actually helps me get a broader focal range with my 16-35mm f/2.8.
@lifejoy57032 жыл бұрын
I’ll recommend to get the Tamron 11-20mm F2.8 which give you 16.5-30mm I use it for video and even for photos. Only disadvantage is in photo mode will only let you take pictures in 15MP instead of 30MP. But for Real Estate photos you don’t really need that more than that unless doing a big size print

This is interesting. I currently have a Sony a6400 and I have the Sony 10-20 mm lens. Could I use this lens on a Sony a7iv to get an equivalent 16-35mm? Would there be any downside to doing this over buying a whole new lens?

I'm not sure how to correctly answer your lens equivalency question,@@gumbymac72? Perhaps someone else will chime-in.
