This is a “bubble of everything” as said by howard marks. We are seeing increase in prices of almost all asset classes. bcoz of this the return on investment has reduced significantly. One of the impacts is that , hedge funds are not able to meet the pension fund roe targets which is generally 7%. This means pension funds have to venture out into riskier asset classes or govt has to bail them out if the pension fund is govt owned which puts alot of pressure on govt. this increase in prices is causing inflation and such low interest rates makes our cash basically worthless

US market is undervalued because 10 years bond yield is 1.5%. so even if it goes 50 PE, it will be undervalued. In India 10 years bond yield is 5.5 to 6%. So anything above 20 PE becomes overvalued.

Checking long term PE ratio itself is wrong. it should always be checked with long term bond yield. PE at 10 can be overvalued if 10 years bond yield is 11% and PE at 25 can be undervalued if 10 years bond yield is 1-2%

Most important aspect which is being missed here…Nifty PE reached 41 in month of feb.. after that it declined to 26.. where as nifty only got higher n higher… it means companies have performed well and earned well despite Covid issues still persisting. Historical PE can never be a reference… as India may not have been an investor heaven before, like it is today. If future growth is expected to be better then people are ready to pay high price.

Its a bubble as since past 3-4 years most of the investment is being done by mostly institutional investors. Fii has invested in india as us mkt and uk mkts has not performed that well due to political idealogy. Dii investment has been increased due to aggressive marketing for mutual fund. So there has been a bubble since last 3-4 years.
