SubhaanAllah I sat in most of the amau junior classes with my 12 year old son who’s in the senior class. I am doing a BA Islamic studies degree online and was praying for a similar style amau class for women and men for my husband. Now this is available. I do intend on completing with my current university as well but I’m thinking I could do amau academy as well as additional knowledge to fill in any gaps as well in Shaa Allah and for lifelong learning ‎‎إن شاء الله‬. However, we have laid out some guidelines in our prospectus on how the student can memorise The Qur'an whilst attending the program, in shaa Allah. Would it be possible for the AMAU team to put together a video on detailed explanation of how we should “take notes” during the class? I have heard many times from ustadhs about the importance of taking notes, but I am not quite sure how I can maximize the benefit from note-taking. I believe this would be very beneficial for brothers and sister to retain the knowledge gained from the classes if the note-taking process were demonstrated by ustadhs themselves. Wa Allaahu a’lam. May Allaah subhanahu wa ta’ala reward you and preserve you in the straight path.

I was interested in learning hanbali madhab. Got to know that it will be added in the future Insha Allah. So should I start learning shaf'I madhab or wait for hanbali.? Is it best for a student of knowledge to learn all madhabs or just one is enough ?

A student of knowledge needs to learn all the madhabs. Don't skip any. That is a rookie mistake.

You will have to spread the knowledge you learnt an definitely meet people with different madhabs with little knowledge who don't know their own madhabs properly. This is when you can point them in the right direction. For example if the ustadh who is a hanbali only he wouldn't know about other madhabs an no one will learn anything new except what the ustadh knows. That is a deficiency in knowledge. An people most likely will say he is jahil. So please brother, study all properly. We need strong student of knowledge with all round knowledge, not only thing you favour.

Is it okay to not do the fiqh section when you start talking about the shafii madhab, as i do not want to change madhab.

I think it will enhance your legal ratio analysis in general, you will benefit from this, also you will avoid Hizbiyyah to one Madhab if you understand the analogy of multiple legal schools.
