I got my hands on the new Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch. In this video I do a quick unboxing and look as some of the basic functions of this collectable as well as share my thoughts about it. Nintendo knows how to hit those nostalgia feels and do it right. Sure, Nintendo has it's flaws, but all in all...Nintendo always seems to make the game playing and game collecting experience more fun than the competition IMO.

Just reserved the last one at the local semi-rural GameStop during dinner and am picking it up tomorrow! I was at Target today and they did not have any in the store. I'm hoping one of the hacker groups opens it up and makes it into a nice little portable NES unit for us.

At the Target I work at I went in to buy it when the store opened but they couldn't find it. Later in the day when I was scheduled to work in the tech dept. I was stocking items that came in on the truck and I found all them. Nintendo doesn't label the shipping boxes with what's in it, so everyone that didn't realize they were there.

Picked it up and was reminded that I did receive the last one. It's a great little device! I may just leave it as is to avoid any 'traces' of software persisting after restoring it to stock (Ahem..Project Lunar..ahem).

Hi John, Was in the store for a cable and they had one of these G&W left. It is expensive but it comes with two great games I never played. So I snatched the last in store. As a kid in the 80s I had several G&W (or similar) lcd games over the years including Donkey Kong, Pengo and Pac Man. Have seen you couple of times with MJ on his channel. Stay awesome and immortal.

I had no idea this was coming out, ordered it yesterday and strolled into Gamestop a few hours later to pick it up. I think this thing is amazing and I love that it's truly the unaltered Super Mario Bros 2 ROM with all of the original sprites and title screen. I've never seen that in an official American release until now. I haven't really looked at any spoilers for the clock and keep finding lots of cool things on my own.

Bought one for myself because I'm a collector and 80s nintendo baby. Bought one for my older brother because he had an orginal game & watch. And bought one for my nephew who's 5 and this will be his first nintendo handheld. Christmas done for those two.

Well considering that some of the original game and watches were $20 back 35 years ago. Adjusted for inflation would make them $48 in todays money. So I guess to you its a little expensive for "what it is." I worked a paper route as a young boy for a few dollars an hour to save up over the course of many weeks to buy one of these back in the day. So to me its worth it. Its all subjective my man.

I have my Game & Watch Permanently On hooked up to my Switch dock (Red Dock). Having the C cable plugged in is kinda like having a half kick stand and then I have back of G&W lined up with the base of TV so it stands on its own perfectly.

Hold in the A button then hit A again after game over and it holds your level on the -1. At first I thought it wouldn't work because of the lack of the start button per the original trick.

I am intrigued by it but not sure if I am willing to spend the money on it right now!. I do have a few of the original game and watches, including the original SMB game and watch which was cool for its time. I like how this has 3 games, but it would have been better if it had some other classics like Zelda :D Did you do a video on that Popeye?

In both SMB games you can press and hold the A button for 5 seconds to get infinite lives. In the game Ball you can also hold the A button for 5 seconds to switch from Mario to Luigi. Both must be done at the title screen of each game.

I just opened mine and I really like it. Pickt up ans Play, ist very light and I nevr opened a Game & Watch as a Kid. I think its worth if you a collector and gamer who played this as a kid

I grabbed one of these and did a live unboxing, so I can also vouch that its pretty hard to play and show on camera at the same time! Though I thought it was pretty sweet! Would have loved to have had more Game & Watch games on it, but they focused on Mario since it was an anniversary item, regardless, its still pretty cool!

I really dig the 1980's Famicom look, but, with only 2 face buttons and only Mario, it's impractical/too expensive for what you get-similar failings of the Game Gear Micro. I know this system tries to stay true to the original. However, if this had at least 4 face buttons and 2 discreet shoulder buttons (SF2) enabled with 35 NES & Famicom games it would have appealed to more people. Again, awesome look though.

I know people wish it had more games and for the price I get that, but it's missing the point. It's meant to be like an old school Game & Watch experience (which had one game for obvious reasons), not a mini console. If you could go back in time and hand yourself a Game & Watch with Super Mario Bros. on it your mind would be blown. For people of a certain age this thing is a really nostalgic and special knick-knack. That said I wish they had done the Game & Watch version of Super Mario Bros. on it instead of Ball which just feels sort of out of place.

Okay, I have seen a lot of reviews of this thing, and I’ve noticed that people our age - who grew up with the original NES - say “Super Mario Brothers”, while younger reviewers literally read “Bros” as-is, almost as though they don’t realize it’s an abbreviation. 🤣
