@The cheesy Dudes i haven't tried the Pentium Gold but from reviews it doesn't seem too bad for light use. Just don't game or edit photos or videos

The Core m3 version is definitely really good, I'm loving mine. The version with a Pentium Gold processor and 4GBs of ram with Emmc storage is very mediocre however, it's not bad but not great either.

Great video thank you. I am so glad that there isn't much of an improvement in battery life because I just bought the original Surface Go and can't stand the idea of I wasn't patient to wait for the 2 😂

In the my case with the SGo 1 8gb in am not able to run over 5hs, some edge tabs and MS officer, mainly Outlook. Brightness at the 30%, great wifi signal and power plan set at better battery (2nd options from the left to right)

@@santiagodelbono1 i use it around 5h too. Which is enough for me. I don't expect anything better from this price point, which is 300 USD from eBay for the 4 GB version.

Battery life is outstanding. I get all-day usage and can watch KZbin videos for over 10 hours (50% brightness with Bluetooth, Wifi, and power saver all on). Reviews by TomsGuide.com and laptopmag.com report similar results for their battery test. Not sure why people trust the ramblings of random KZbinrs who have no idea how to optimize Surface devices for better battery life or performance...

Please explain why tablet mode matters? What can be done in tablet mode that can't be done in computer mode? As for battery life, I get 11 hours of continuous KZbin playing on my SG2 (8 ram, 128 ssd, Pentium Processor). Finally, there are always sales (e.g., Best Buy), so mine SG2 was only $389...

It's not about mattering, it's about there simply being an interface available exclusive to the touchscreen since Surfaces are also tablets (somewhat). Using the normal mode with touch is a pain and, although Microsoft could really give more attention to it and optimise it WAY more, the fact that Tablet mode exists is fantastic for when you're just using tablet-ui apps (e.g. Leonardo, Netflix, Messenger, StaffPad, Instagram, Photoshop Express, etc.)

@@aldo6532 Exclusive to touchscreens? Touchscreens were available before tablets. Tablet mode only exists because computer-sized tablets were not around in 2010. Now that they exist, tablet sales revenue are swiftly declining which is why Apple is pushing "laptop replacement" for iPads...

R K Did you read the reply? Using Windows as a tablet is a huge pain with the desktop environment. Having an interface exclusive to the touchscreen capabilities of those Windows tablets (Tablet Mode) makes it easier and less of a pain to use AS A TABLET. All it does is optimise usage for touch. Thats why it matters.

@@aldo6532 Using Windows as a tablet is not a huge pain. Trying thinking for yourself. I own a SP7, SG2, and HP 360 x360, all have touchscreens and there is zero problem. Moreover, not one of the thousands of customer reviews on Best Buy or Amazon complains about touch screens on Windows. Only people who complain are KZbinrs and Apple/Samsung fanbois (both of which never provide concrete examples). In 2021, Tablet have no place in society beyond watching NetFlix now that their are computer/tablet hybrids. This is why everyone but Apple and Samsung (top 2 tablet makers) makes them.

@ms p Well then you might not use it as a tablet much. I draw using Leonardo and write music in Staffpad. I also watch YT with MyTube and use a couple of other tablet based apps like Yousician. Tablet Mode for one makes all these apps fullscreen and creates a slightly different experience that makes a difference when using these apps :) Is based on ease I guess, but yeah I like the mode

Thinking bout getting this for general use...but mostly for retro game emulation 😂 just wish it had a fan built in! So I could play on it for hours without worrying. SP7 i7 is a bit too pricey at the moment.

Download Throttlestop to get the SG2's Pentium Gold to run as fast as an i5 processor. Unlike high-performance mode, it won't destroy battery life. I still get around 10 hours of continuous KZbin viewing.

Never my surface 2 i5 is way faster I got the m 8gb and the surface 2 is i5 4gb and is a lot more powerful

Having windows give lot more potential. ..... I doubt that; as windows platform already has power chips available I don't think anybody is concerned to optimise system for weak chips. Whereas android market is big for cheap section and surely a 200$ phone is more capable than surface go, and iPad also does everything better; you can open as many tabs, play games( you can emulate old console games way more convenient) compared to surface go. So overall they are giving really cheap chip for that price. Microsoft should really make some changes in price, even discuss it with intel if it's because of them. How are they giving such a cheap cpu for that price.

iPad aint a computer, it is a big iPhone. Not sure why you don't understand that? And you do know that the Geekbench 5 single-core score for the SG2 m3 is 873 and it is 978 for the 2020 MBA i3? So you are clearly misrepresenting the SG2's CPU processor power (maybe that is why you presented no actual facts). Finally, if anyone checks Best Buy and Amazon customer reviews they will get a completely different picture than what you presented. Facts are that people who have a SG2 with an m3 chip end up using it more than their SP7, iPad Pro, or Samsung Tab S7 or S7 Plus....
