Is the Suzuki Van Van 200 a Yamaha TW200 Killer?

One of the huge benefits of the TW is it's lack of technology. I love the little plastic analog speedo that runs off a spinning cable from the front wheel! Man there is some antiquity there. And I love the fact that the headlight, taillight and turn signals are not LED. The switches all look like they came out of a Yamaha parts bin in 1976. The tires have tubes, the engine is timed with an old school timing light. And it has a carburetor! The front of the seat is held on with....A SUCTION CUP! I mean there can't be any better example of how things used to be 50 years ago than a TW200. When I want to remember how good things were way back in my misspent youth, all I have to do is take a spin and a grin on the Mighty TW200.

Amen! One thing about the Van Van I recently found out about: When the battery dies. I mean, will not hold a charge. The electronic FI does not work. The bike is a dead player. You can't even push start it. Otherwise, both 200's are very fun and simple. Thx 4 watching!

Just passed my course yesterday with the vanvan 200 exact bike like yours, mind you I have a 1600cc Harley and this was SO MICH FUN TO RIDE

Lol. I had a Buell XB12 1200, and to step down to a Van Van 200 was quite the transition. I love the bike. You're right... so much fun! Congrats on passing the course.

It's not the fuel injection it's the gearing. Also less ground clearance, less suspension travel and ya better put a skid plate on it.

Love my 2017 Van Van. I have the T-rex racing skid plate, engine guard, and hand guards. Added a Hagon shock and gold valve emulators. 7500 miles on it now.

Try riding a xr100 when you weight 220lbs and have smashed ur tailbone as a kid doing wheelies. Lets just say I don't like to wheelie anymore or sit chairs without padding or skinny dirt bike seats. No preaching to the choir here. I do 90% or more of my riding on the pavement. And most of that under 50 mph. And that's where I like to ride when I am just out enjoying the day in small town Idaho. Or the outskirts anyway. FI means instant startup, never skips a beat and...._and_ gives me 100 miles per gallon when ridden sensibly. An oil cooler helps to keep the engine happy on hot days too. I am not bouncing off of rocks ever so don't need no skid plate. Big fat tires and big fat comfy seat mean lots of time riding with big smiles all the time. I have other bikes to ride if I am going somewhere but if I am just out for a little jaunt just to do so? Yeah- the Van Van is for me. Sure happy that I got one.

Those are great insights. I appreciate the feedback. I'm happy about the Van Van, too. Except I got a flat tire minutes after filming the video. So technically, I've hardly ridden it. But it was clear, in the 8 miles I did ride, it's a winner. I'll probably keep it fairly stock, too. My Tdub is perfect for the offroading. Love the FI!

@@OffGridandWhiskey No reason much to do anything to the VV. While they make aftermarket mufflers for the bike, it is so well tuned that any pipe you put on it you will actually lose horsepower with. Besides, like you said, that big can is so dang quiet that you can hear a jaybird fart 100 feet away. I have a small windshield on mine (why not?) and some T-Rex crash bars for the..ahem!.. occasional whoopsie when playing in the dirt. I have been at a red light and someone in a car next to me will ask me what it is and then ask me if I want to sell it. Nope. Get your own. This thing is just _too much fun!_
