Is the TASMANIAN TIGER Still Alive? (THYLACINE) Pt.2

In this adventure I explore the forest of TASMANIA attempting to track down the EXTINCT TASMANIAN TIGER! Since the last Thylacine died in 1936, another one hasn't been found... But are they still alive?
There has been thousands of reports of people seeing these creatures across TASMANIA. With many parts of this place being UNEXPLORED for decades, I believe there could be a small population of them living away from humans in the South-West!
SHOULD I FILM PART THREE?!?!

Hi Miller. I knew a guy who's brother and mother lived in the wilds of Tassie back in the late eighties. They reported that they found pups and adults deep in the forests. So they could be still kicking around. So cool if they were. If you found evidence, please keep the location to yourself. Thanks for the enthusiastic post. Good Luck.

It is sound sentiment to not publicise any locations rarities are located until adequate protection has been sorted out. Keeping the information secret from protection authorities however is not useful, it will assist them become extinct. While experts can make mistakes it does not detract from their successes, and that they have the best expertise and resources to make progress. Some private interests (often soliciting public "donations") advocate secrecy from such authorities. Which is assisting extinction.

Yes never tell scientists nor authorities. Hit men will remove them; because would have to be declared endangered species; land protected. Mineral and logging exploiters would be blocked !!! You see .

Reading old newspapers, the thylacine story is so sad. It was misunderstood and the population was under pressure from late 1800’s . I wish you every success. Finding a surviving population would be among the best news in Australia’s history.

I kinda feel ripped into two pieces by this. It would be the COOLEST thing ever if it turns out the Tasmanian tiger isn't extinct. I find them extraordinary looking and whenever i watch the footage of the Tassie in the Zoo (Which is sad as fuck), i feel like i'm looking at something Prehistoric. Kinda like you just saw a Smilodon, or dinosaur. Unbelievable feeling and i'm so fascinated. However, what would happen if it really turns out they aren't extinct? Wouldnt the interest on these skyrocket? What about Poachers, money hungry bastards? The Tassie has been declared extinct for a pretty damn long time now. Imagine the "value" of them if one would be found. I'm a little scared that with todays view on things, it would hurt the Tassie even more to be found, rather than to remain declared as extinct? Just something that came to my mind. Even though i'd rather have nobody find it, i would still be so excited about it. Ripped feelings 😅

Hey Miller, I just thought I'd say this, but Papa New Guinea is a good area to look for the Thylacine as there have been many many sightings there and a lot of it is unexplored. Of course you can continue in Tasmania, but if you don't manage to find anything there you could try search in Papa New Guinea. You don't have to search there, just thought I'd let you know.

Loved it again Miller. From my experience (since 2017) is that Thylacine do not like IR light. So in my view Trail Cameras are pretty useless, as the only shots of them you'll get are at the edge of the IR field or them darting away (they are extremely fast contrary to beliefs) so they just can't be used for evidence. I had 8 cameras and haven't been forth coming in buying news one (however some one kindly donated me some which I will use). You might ask why they don't like IR light, well they have a membrane on their eyes which I believe has something to do with seeing in IR or as close to red light as possible (the spectrum that we see in) . Lots of sightings of Thylacines account them not being bothered at all by flashlights and car headlights and seem oblivious to it. They are nocturnal (mostly) so seeing in IR would be a huge advantage. It has taken me years to find areas where they frequent (and they still aren't always there - as they'll move with the roos) and I will be staking out during the day time hoping for just a few seconds of daylight footage of them. The area you seem to be looking in seems good for their habitat, however they love open fields (farm land espically) where they can "mob" up the roos and pick off the young ones as the roos can't jump and bounce through the bush to escape (all done at night or low light). Really looking forward to part 3....I hope you find one.
@PengwinTamer
@PengwinTamer Жыл бұрын
You're so full of crap. You're really trying to convince people that you know of areas where they frequent, yet you can't get and don't have a single second of footage of one? Or even one photo? There are always people like you commenting on these videos. Bigfoot, ivory billed woodpecker, etc. No matter the cryptid, there is ALWAYS someone claiming to know of an area where they constantly see the creatures, yet they have absolutely no proof. Just making a mockery of it

@@felixstaehelin3260 Only glimpses with my own eyes. They are super elusive but their stripes are beautiful! Had better visual of 2x Joey Thylacoleo a few years back started using a gopro on my chest recording all the time....as you see them (Thylacines) when you least expect it. Gopro has a slo mo recording settings which can be more the +120 frames per second..... so hopefully even just a 1 second recording can allow me to get 120 images (not great in low light however). Here's hoping! As without images, people just think I'm talking crap.

Ah, okay - so the reason they're never captured on trail cams is that they (unlike every other marsupial) are somehow sensitive to IR light? You're having a laugh, right? They DO NOT see in infra-red; just another unsubstantiated, dare I say "crazy", claim to explain why they aren't seen. The simplest explanation is the most likely - they're gone...

I've been told a story by a close family member that back in the early 2000's a couple of hunters accidentally shot one. They took it back to the old tunack pub just south of Campbell town and put it into the deep freezer. Unsure what happened to it after that but he believes the university came and took it and paid the owner of the pub and the two hunters too keep it quiet. He and along with a couple others witnessed the tiger the night it was shot.

Back in 2001 my wife and I took the kids on a trip to Tasmania. While on the road between Strahan and Queenstown on the west coast, both my wife and I clearly saw a large dog like animal come out of the bush, cross the road and, with one leap, climb up the embankment (at least 2 - 2.5 metres high) on the other side. Unfortunately, it was too far away & too quick to get a detailed look but, the animal in question was too big to be a feral cat or dog. Until my dying day, I'm convinced that what we saw was a Thylacine. True story.

It's sad to know that there are animals that have gone extinct because of our actions and it's easy to resent them for it which is understanable but like you said from the previous video, we can only use this to learn from our mistakes to make sure that no other animals suffer the fate by working together to educate people and help them out as our way to make amends. And who knows? Maybe one day, the Thylacine will show up again.

Your highly commendable efforts are in the tradition of the great naturalists and conservationists with a conscience who cared about the survival of life on earth and worked to protect the plants, animals and natural areas from the damaging effects of human activity, and especially those who wrote books and produced films about their field activities in the wild. Peace.

Enthralling from beginning to end Miller! It’s an interesting philosophical problem about whether or not to reveal to the worldwide public if you do eventually find a Tasmanian Tiger. . I learned so much from this video and loved seeing wild Tasmania. The night cameras are awesome and expose so much (and in a non-disruptive way) about the wildlife. . Thank you for your tireless efforts to make this world a better place for wild creatures and for us humans too - knowledge and enlightenment are key; you’re the best kind of guide and educator 👍

I absolutely love those Tasmanian devils. They remind me of the honey badger, another fierce little guy found in Asia and Africa.

If there are any left which i doubt, you should be searching old growth forests, old growth forests have never had fires ravage them or had much human interruption as they are protected, here in victoria theres an old growth forest in toolangi about an hour from melbourne
