I never interpreted the Tinkerbell movies as having some sort of real life message like “you can only be good at one thing” I just saw it as “this is just how this fictional fairy world works!” I never thought that I could only be good at one thing because of these movies because the characters aren’t humans.

Yeah, my thought process was the same; idk why, but when I saw other things about fairies like Fairytopia from Barbie, I was like "omg friendship" and "omg you have to be good to others" but with Tinkerbell it was just "yes, the documentary about fairys, this is how they would act and how their world would be, thank you very much"

I think the one scientist quote may be about the Fairy Rescue movie, they show a dad and her daughter, the dad being a man of science, looked down at the girl's interests in fairies, creativeness, fantasies and so. The man is so uptight w his beliefs in science, what is wrong or right, the importance of institutions and facts, so he doesn't believe in fairies, and the girl proves him wrong. Maybe he was referencing that particular movie, which in his defense it's true, but we all know that not all scientists are bitter or joyless, plus we all need a little bit of magic and fantasy in our lives, even bitter men using reddit
@lsmmoore1
@lsmmoore1 8 ай бұрын
And also, that movie takes place in the 19th century. That was the era when Ignatz Semmelweis ended up a broken man in response to the vitriol he got because he suggested people wash their hands when treating patients (basically, the scientists acted towards Semmelweis the way the scientists in Disney's Atlantis movie do towards Milo Thatch and his grandpa, even though it is common knowledge nowadays that you're supposed to wash hands when treating patients). It was also the era when Sigmund Freud turned towards now-debunked theories because of the scorn he got for his early insights on psychological trauma. And while there are still some scientists who have that attitude, there are far fewer of those now than there were back then, and there are folks who push back against this where they can because the attitude of that dad, quite frankly, makes for bad science (because rigorously testing a theory is one thing, dismissing it out of hand as "foolishness" in spite of evidence to the contrary is another, and from what I can tell, some important conservation opportunities were missed for years, even decades, as a result of that attitude, what with people believing animals to be less intelligent than they really are and failing to take into account how intelligence and learning affects their conservation prospects).

@@lsmmoore1Also, according to the deleted scene, “A Real Life Fairy,” Lizzie’s father believed in fairies too. That was, at least, till he told a girl that he saw a fairy, she blurted it out, and a rumor spiraled out of control that ended up with the tree that the fairy lived in burning down and his father shaming him for “bringing shame to their family.”
@boxman4900
@boxman4900 7 ай бұрын
i think if anything, the lesson of the movie was for dads to listen to their daughters and entertain their interests rather than forcing their own interests onto them, which is something that some of these dads who are complaining about tinkerbell need to learn. it could just be my interpretation due to personal experience tho cuz my dad is a narcissist and he would only spend time with my brother and me if we were doing something he liked

Tinkerbell is the story of a girl with autism who has her own special and new wave of participating in her special interest but is discouraged from that interest because she does it her own way, and because she feels so unwanted in the field of interest she likes she forces herself to try and do other things in an attempt to feel accepted, AND NOBODY CAN CHANGE MY MIND! The way she doesn’t clock Vidya hating her or tricking her, the way she doesn’t notice the social cues that would tell her people are thinking she’s weird or annoying. Tinkerbell taught me to not compare my talents to others, and to be proud of myself. It also taught me to advocate for myself and the ways that I can contribute to a situation/society/etc that may be different than what's "normal". As a sensitive neurodivergent kid, Tinkerbell truly helped me learn that I am valuable and can be confident even if I don't "fit in" to the way society typically functions. I actually think Tinkerbell should get even more credit than it already gets. I love Tinkerbell, I watched all the movies and read all the books. I used to imagine that I'm just a pixie that the other pixies don't understand but that doesn't mean my talent is stupid. When Tink puts together the music box, it always makes me cry bc she's finally shown just being happy in her element and just doing her thing without the scrutiny or judgment of the other pixies.

The Industrial Revolution of Pixie Hollow isn't necessarily one to stay. All the inventions were needed to bring Spring in time, there was no other way. After spring was saved, most fairies reverted back to their old ways of doing things, because the inventions weren't needed anymore. Ofcourse some still used them, but they didn't take over Pixie Hollow entirely. You can see all this in the other movies and books.

Suddenly feeling a lot of gender affirmation as a trans girl for the fact that my childhood play was always looking for trash I could turn into a trinket or repurpose. A lot of railroad stuff since I grew up in a rail-trail network, railroad spikes were (and still are) often my tool of choice when I had to do something.

10:51 Ironically, one of the original ideas for the first Tinkerbell movie ended with a scene of the girls going to a concert for a fairy rock band called "The Pixie Chicks" which actually has partially done official 3D animation floating around somewhere on the web

As a young boy I LOVED these movies to an insane degree, I would make my blanket fort, take my lil foldable dvd player and watch it while eating whatever snack I chose. I have every one of the movies on dvd and they are a treasure. My siblings don’t share my love for these movies. Also, justice for Terrance! He was treated awfully in the second movie by Tink and it makes me so upset lmaooo. Also Vidia (hope I spelt that right) is like the best character ever, can’t change my mind

Clank and Bobble gives me the Timon and Pumbaa vibes (the one who doesn't have any clue on anything and the other who answers the question and the smarter one at the same time) Terence gives me the cat noir/Adrien vibes (from Miraculous Ladybug) because of their personalities and both are blond Vidia is Meg (aka Megara from Hercules) in my opinion but you can compare her from almost every series but maybe it's just me iridessa gives me the Talia vibes (from Lolirock) in almost every single ways in both personalities, likes, dislikes and by appearances Rosetta gives me mainly the Auriana vibes (from Lolirock) in almost every single ways but you can compare her from almost every series which have their girly-girl personalities Fawn gives me the Sailor Jupiter/Makoto Kino vibes (from Sailor Moon) in both appearances and personalities but almost each series have tomboy(ish) personalities you can compare Silvermist with anyone because almost each series have their east asian characters but i think she's a tiny bit more like Hay Lin because of her personalities (from W.I.T.C.H) i did my comparison on almost each characters that are in the first movie😁😁

I think what they meant by "trust the industrialists that destroy your culture" is that Tinkerbell kept consistently messing up, kept wrecking everything, and yet she kept seemingly being forgiven and kept being given chances when in other works she'd just be exiled for what she did.

I grew up with the first three Tinker Bell movies and as an adult, I kinda think the think the “scientists being overzealous and joyless” point sort of applies to the third film, The Great Fairy Rescue. Lizzie’s (Tinker Bell’s human friend) father is a scientist-dude who doesn’t believe in magic and tries discouraging her interest in fairies. His actions such as collecting insects and trying to get Lizzie interested in mineralogy are seen as antagonistic, when in reality he’s trying to raise a daughter that could succeed and grow in the STEM field and be a mature parental figure. I haven’t seen the film in a decade, so I don’t remember if the Dad gets in trouble for not bringing Vidia to his job or whatever, but I guess Disney was trying to show that the more malleable and childlike you are, the better you will be as a parent.

The tinker belle movies did not do tinker belle justice because in the Peter Pan movies she is sassy, spiteful and jealous so the tinker belle movies are basically not canon or they are saying something happened that changed her. In the Peter Pan movies she had the personality of the storm fairy more

It's been a hot minute since I last watched any of the tinkbell movies, but I do remember part of what made me like them in the 1st place is how there are bits of tink's nastier traits sprinkled throughout. Like her short temper, self-centeredness, stubbornness & impulsivity. The I think 2nd? movie (the lost treasure one) is basically all about the consequences of her anger issues! Since the whole series is meant to be a prequel to peter pan, I assumed the idea was that moving away from her friends in pixie hollow who helped keep her in check, & going to Neverland to live w/ a bunch of perpetual preteens caused her to become her worst self.

Thank you 💜. As a KH fan from the first game and a Jesse fangirlie I can not describe how happy I also was to hear Jesse in KH2. Roxas fave character and it is a bias partially due to VA alone.
