I cannot agree more on what you said about getting a cheaper bike to build confidence. I get that advice so many hecking times. But I do understand their concern however this is a T120 it's not a superbike by any means and there's rain mode as well if it's too jerky. Plus I am 33, and I have 16 years driving experience and I never got a ticket. I do feel I know my temperament when it comes to speed. I am set on getting the T120! Just waiting for my loan approval now. Thanks for the video!! I really enjoyed it.

I'm 52 and just got my moto license after taking the MSF course. Searched around for a bike and landed on the Bonnie T120 Black Gold Line. I've had the bike for one week and have road just under 500 miles, time for that break-in oil change check up. I've never ridden motorcycles before, although I grew up driving manual transmissions on several vehicles. The bike has plenty of power to offer and I have been breaking it in slowly as per the suggested recommendations. I respect the lo end torque and have no regrets.

Great video..I’m 57, looking to get back into bikes after near 30 years….The T120 looks great and all vids on this are really making ii difficult to choose between the MG V7, T100 & T120….if I was younger, then no way I would choose this bike as I was a bit of a nut…but now..much more mellow…so I’m leaning towards this bike…again thx for the great vids…

I am a 2022 Bobber owner who bought a used 2018 T120 that had very low mileage and was garage kept. The T120 stole my heart and made me forget my Bobber because of the seat comfort and overall handling. I wanted my twin boys to fall in love with Triumph motorcycles so I gave the Bobber to one of the boys and the T120 to the other. I am awaiting some funds to purchase a newer T120 Black and can honestly say I miss the Bonnie more than I thought I would and absolutely can’t wait until I get another one 💔

There is no way in hell I'd recommend a 1200 cc, 520lb, $11,500.00 machine as anyone's first bike! I would absolutely suggest a small, lightweight 200-300 cc bike like a Honda CRF or similar. A used one can be had for a few grand leaving the new rider plenty of money left over for a good helmet, boots, jacket, gloves, glasses, etc, as well as enough for a riding skills course.

Great vid. Ive ordered one as my first bike. Ive sat on them in the shop and the low seat means the weight is easily managed. Nothing intimidating by the controls. I want a bike purely as a toy and wouldnt enjoy riding a 'beginner bike'. I want a nice relaxing bike to look amazing and make a nice noise. Nothing under 1000cc will make that low grumbling noise. Your verdict is the exact same that I thought. Glad its worked out well for you. Cant wait to get mine!

I've had a Bonneville T120 for six years. I love it. It has its pros and cons. However, I definitely would not recommend it as a first bike, basically because if you lack the experience in riding, you run a large risk of having a serious accident. Spending your money on a cheaper, less powerful bike in order to get some experience is strongly advised. That's my personal opinon, obviously.

i am in my late 30s now and never ever have I ridden a motorcycle, although it is one of my life’s dream. Therefore I have started the schooling for the A2 driving licence and to be honest in the past 3 months i have seen hundreds of videos regarding the first beginner bikes and to be honest the T100 was my first option, however the moment I’ve seen this T120, I said to myself “ this is the one I love and this is the one I’ll buy”. Of course it will be a second hand one 😊( don’t want too much trouble with the misses ). just one question: are you still on tubed tires ?

If I’m honest, it’s the clutch that controls the bike, you get that nailed in your lessons and you can easily handle this. I went from never riding to this bike and 3 years later I still back the decision I made. I currently have the Avon Spirit tyres and I think they are the best I’ve had so far

If one is careful and doesn't do anything irresponsible you believe the T120 is a good first bike correct? I was looking at the T100 because I thought perhaps the increased power on the 120 might be a bit much for me as a beginner even though I would do my best to be careful, take it kind of slow in the beginning, and make every effort to be responsible. Please compare the 2 bikes for a beginner. I'm leaning to the T100 but really don't want to have regrets sithing 6 months to a year because I can only afford one bike.

The Speed Twin 900 is probably a better starter bike when you look at power, price, and weight. The Bonneville T120 is the perfect second/forever bike. Everyone drops their first bike eventually, and it's easier on your wallet and back to drop a bike that weighs 50lbs and costs $3k or more USD less. If I had the room and money, I'd probably own both. The 900 for trips around town, and the T120 set up for touring to do long hauls.

The bench seat and vintage styling is drawing me to this bike. Your paying 10,000 but were being charged 13,000 here in the states.The Kawasaki 900 that people are comparing this to is available but just seems thrown together without alot of attention to detail. It's just fast. And in no way, shape, or form compares to the T120. It's just simply a gorgeous bike.

Can a 6'0" person ride comfortably on it? I sat on a speed twin 1200 and loved it but thought it was a tad small

Believe it or not the speed twin is slightly taller, but that said, the lightness and tank is smaller which I think makes it feel a smaller bike. We’ve just uploaded a comparison vid of the two on our Channel. Be sure to check it out and drop a sub whilst your there 🤘🏻

Back in the days of yore! blokes could pass the test on anything from 50cc to 250cc in the morning then go buy a 500, 650 or even a 1000cc bike in the afternoon ....injured or dead by teatime...Well, not quite, but I'm sure it did happen. Now there is a multi layer system that I'm not acquainted with. You are correct, riding a Motorcycle is a skill that has to be mastered..You don't master it by trying to keep up with faster riders.... they usually end up in the foliage anyway... Solo and/or small groups are best with riders on similar bikes. I ride with a couple of guys and gal on classic Triumphs. I use a Street Triple 675, however, my days of being a hooligan are long gone....Great ride through your countryside...

100% not to mention you can get 600cc bikes that are much faster than a T120. Way we saw it was 70mph is 700mph, coming off with hurt 😂. I learnt of a street triple, such a good bike and if I ever get another it will be something similar. Thanks for the comment and be sure to stick around 👍🏻

absolutely love the engine and styling. a great bike! tried one last summer but i didnˋt get one and heres why: if you are fortunate enough to live nearby the hills and mountains with plenty of sharp bends, you will unfortunately very quickly feel the limits of this bike: the handling feels rather slow and heavier than plenty of other bikes out there. the speed twin 1200 is the better option in that case if you love that british styling and the amazing triumph bonneville engine. much sharper and more flickable, but as a beginner maybe to powerful. i liked the speed twin 900 (former street twin) as well but found some issues with the tires and the grip when leaning into the bends as i am used to (just change them...). i am not a sports rider! the t-120 felt like something to chill around: rather for larger bends, straighter roads, or driving all the way to the ocean with absolute comfort, style, power and excellent sound. so if you donˋt live nearby the super twisty roads or you donˋt need that flickability and you simply donˋt seek to feel the excitement of fast turning, get yourself one and you will never need to get another bike again. ... lovely bike! i loved the black edition most

Nice one, guys. Sounds like the low seat height helps, but any issues or comments with the weight? Triumph estimates the T120 (wet) weight of 520 lbs at almost 50 lbs more than the Speed Twin, for example. Does that ever get irritating or unmanageable? Best from Chicago.
@NoPlaceToBe.
@NoPlaceToBe. 2 жыл бұрын
Hey man. I learnt on street triple (insane learner bike I know). The weight is obviously a step up and higher than the speed twin. I’d say it’s sometimes felt in the corners, you have to move your body and little more but other than that I can’t say I’ve had any issues with it at all. The engine size and low seat offset all that kind of stuff in my opinion. Glad you enjoyed from across the pond and please sub for more 🤘🏻 cheers, Alex

Bought a new T120 this past week. Long time rider and have owned 20+ and rode scores more of a most the brands. Most people new to motorcycles would not need the T120 level of performance to be happy for a few years. A cheaper alternative might make more sense to see if motorcycling is something they really want to. So for me its not about how difficult the bike is to ride but rather someone go all in with no experience. They after all decide later they would rather another style of bike. If you have no basis to understand your likes and how different bikes ride are you going on looks alone? A novice rider doesn't have the experience to understand by looking at a bike how different bikes handle and perform.

Personally, I do not think the Bonneville would be a good first bike for anyone. I think they should learn motorcyling on a smaller bik, maybe 500cc's. After a newbie learns how to ride, the Bonneville would be a great second, third, fourth or tenth bike. You can't beat the looks of a Bonneville, the proper British motorcycle.

Would you recommend getting a used Bonneville ? Maybe a 2017? Any benefits with a new one? I’m about to get my license here in Stockholm and can’t wait to get to try a few bikes. A part of me thinks that ..hey I just need something for nipping around the city and out to the golf club so maybe a Royal Enfield Classic or Meteor is bike enough for me. Right now anything above 50mph seems fast :) But things progress so quickly. What was intimidating last week is nothing this week and I’m worried that I’ll outgrow the 350 engine and wish I got a big boys bike ;) maybe a 650 Interceptor ?

I got mine second hand, it’s the 2019 model. I guess it’s all down to your budget and requirements. I would try to stick to 2/3 years old but obviously that increases price. I guess if you know it will only be used for city riding that could work but I would go a little bigger so you have the option to get out if needed, would save you having to buy twice. Maybe the street scrambler wouldn’t be a bad option, looks great too

I'd say no simply due to the price. Unless you can get a steal of a deal or just rich, it's not great. The controls feel so smooth but I feel like the t100 is better for the unsteady hands of a beginner.

@NoPlaceToBe. 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed that price is a big downside for an early rider. We deffo aren’t rich ahaha it took about 12 months of saving with little other outgoings due to the lockdowns going on at the time. Personally I’ve never rode the T100 so can’t compare but from experience the T120 has been fine for me.

It’s a good question and I was close to doing that. However for roughly the same price I wanted to get a bike that I wouldn’t “outgrow” I feel if I get a T100 after a few months I would be ready for a larger bike. I’ve done some massive trips on the T120 and I feel the T100 would fall short on here

On one hand I would say it is a pity tat you haven't had the experience of gradually working your way towards the more powerful machines, you will probably never get a bike that you enjoy more than your T120. On the other hand, given that the internal combustion engine is heading towards oblivion within the foreseeable future, it is probably best to enjoy these wonderful machines as soon as you can for as long as you can..
