I ended up getting the Record Pi based on it's good reviews, and have had great results. I was able to save some warped records that were pretty valuable, and restored them to perfectly flat; it definitely paid for itself.

The other consideration, forces are at play on the needle with the warp such as additional downforce running through the peaks and valleys on the lp. So in considering this and perhaps you have a spendy cartridge and needle then it makes the flattener that much more important.

I own Oil Capital Vinyl in Tulsa and finally decided to order one of these last week, after buying an otherwise nice collection of records, except most are cupped. Hoping I can salvage most or all of them with the Vinyl Flat.
@TheAgeOfAnalog Жыл бұрын
@@user-og2oc2oi5g I've salvaged at least 200 cupped or warped records since then , using the Vinyl Flat. It takes some experimentation, using the supplied felt discs, as well as some other tools I've utilized, along with the correct heat setting (always medium) and times to get the desired results. Sometimes it takes several sessions to unwarp one record.

The main problem is lip warping (outer edge); almost impossible to get out with whatever technique.

@@luisdiego22002 yeah that’s the trickiest warp unfortunately. Pretty common too. The Vinyl Flat did help with it, but it doesn’t flatten it completely. It made it playable, which is the most important part.

I'm extremely upset with myself. I forgot a few LPs in my car, but still protected from the sun. That didn't really help. The car is black and the sun was beating down on it all day. The interior was so hot it warped my records! They are all still playable and don't skip, but are badly warped. The worst one is my Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis. Very upset about this. Never leave your records in the car, even for a few hours!

I started collecting vinyls a couple months ago so far no warps But it happened to happen to one of my favorite ones and yeah. It’s a slight warp which makes the needle jump a little at the beginning. Not a huge warp but small, I will probably get this, this is the cheapest option, I’d get the $1000 option but that one costs so much I’d feel obligated to start a side business of flattening vinyls for $5-$10 a pop and I don’t feel like doing that lol
@kenisinoregon2 жыл бұрын
