I wanted to give my thoughts on the Record Pi and what results I have had so far.

On sale right now. At the sale price, I figure it pays for itself after flattering about ten records. Or one or two extremely rare ones.

Thanks for writing. It does make most records payable and if they are expensive, hard to find records, it is worth it. Thanks for checking the page out, I really appreciate it. Enjoy the music.

Does flipping the record make a difference?

Hi, I did try that and didn't really see a difference. Edge warp is really tough to get out. Also when you get edge warp the grooves are distoreted which I don't feel will ever come back. This does get most records back to a playable condition but not perfect. Thanks for watching and writing in. Enjoy the day.

Not sure what the LP looked like in person, but from the video it looked like a huge improvement. Also, I don't think the company has ever claimed it will make your warped/dished LPs "perfect", but according to other reviewers it does seem to do a pretty good job and can make most LPs playable. I just got one to take care of some mild dishing issues I have. Hope this tool works for that defect. Update: I have used the Pi on several LPs and I can verify what some other KZbinrs have claimed: it works pretty well on most LPs, but works exceptionally well on 180/200 gram LPs. I buy almost nothing other than audiophile grade LPs and have ended up with some that play great, but have varying levels of dishing. The Pi has been able to restore all of those LPs and makes them perfectly flat. My suggestion is to go with the recommended temperature (125 degrees), but leave it in the flattener for 4 hours (not the suggested 2 hours) and let the Pi cool for at least one hour or until the metal platters are completely cool.

Thanks for watching and for writing. I was referring to an Ad they were running. It showed a badly edge warped record, then it lays perfectly flat afterwards. I do like most of what it does but there none ever come out perfectly flat. Also, what people need to know is this, once warped, the grooves are usually distorted and you will here a little swoosh sound when the cartridge moves over that area. I will continue to use this for warped records and hope you have great success with yours. Enjoy the music.

That worked a lot better than I expected. Rather than even pressure across the entire surface though, I would think that plates with a raised center and outer ring might better focus the pressure and heat on those two regions most commonly affected by warp; while also minimizing risk of damage to the grooves.

Thanks for watching and writing. I would like more clamping pressure on the outside of the record to help with the edge warps. I just did a Floyd WYWH album that I am about to pull out and see. There are a couple higher end vinyl flattening devices but they are a lot more money. I might try one soon if I can grab lots of OT at work, lol. Thanks again and enjoy the music.

Edge warps tend to be tricky because the outer circumference is oftentimes a tad bit thicker vinyl then the rest of the record. Outer clamps can help focus weight and pressure but also tend to increase risk of heat damage to the grooves around the outer portion of the record, sometimes leading to the dreaded "heat rash" effect. Feel free to email or DM us directly with any additional specific question on edge warping, or any other types of warps.

Thanks for taking the time to review the Record Pi! Edge warps can be some of the trickiest to fix. Most can be made cleanly playable, and some even perfectly flat. But definitely tends to require experimentation on temperature and bake time. Do you know the weight of this Def Leppard disc?

Those records weigh about 120 grams so not the thickest records. Thank you for watching, I really appreciate it.

@@bfpsa64 No problem! For a 120g record, at 128F you'd probably be okay going a bit longer (maybe 8 hours total) to see if that helps get that edge more perfectly flat. You could also try increasing the temp to 132F or so. But since that increases risk of damage on a 120g record you would want to start back at a 2 hours bake session to minimize risk. All comes down to your risk tolerance.
