We are officially into wheat harvest, which means a little overlapping for me as a sheep farmer.
We sorted our last ewes weaned in June, using data and a physical evaluation to decide who stays, and who must go.
Wheat harvest has begun quite well, with only one plug of the leg... thankfully, for once not my doing.
AND... I stumbled across a gorgeous ewe who looks to be carrying quite the litter of lambs!!
She's still got 24 days to go... will she make it??

I get so tickled at Lucy sleeping on her back, it's the cutest thing ever😂😂. I'm pretty sure if Piper was causing trouble or issues with the ewes/lambs, Sandy wouldn't allow her in the barn. Sandy you are doing a phenomenal job, don't worry about the negative comments.

What a joy to watch the two of you work together. When my niece first started dating her husband, he was so happy to tell his mother, "She can even drive a tractor!". She now has sheep and cattle ,while he does their own fields and custom harvesting. Lovely to see.

@@jewelssylva3738 I said "sheep" dog not shepherd dog. What I meant was that you can train Piper to behave better around the sheep. Same with Lucy. No effort, no gain. They've already learned some bad habits and those should be corrected, but I doubt the women have the time to do that. Sandi literally has several jobs she's juggling already. Trying to train a dog would put a whole lot more pressure on her and I don't blame her for putting dog training on the back burner. If her daughter had received the dog when she wasn't ill, it's possible she might have been able to train Piper better, but Lucy is a bad influence. I noticed McKinsey(?) has done better without Lucy in the sheep barn as often.

I love your family, your farm, and your sheep 🐑 very much! A morning with you is a fantastic day ahead. But, it REALLY Upsets me when you say that “some viewers get mad when Piper is in the barn.” First and foremost, it’s YOUR BARN, NOT THEIRS. And if you don’t care that Piper is in there, then so be it. It is just the Rudest thing for a viewer to say. She’s your dog (Jess’s), your barn, and your channel/social media. I love that Mark gifted you a drone for Christmas 🎄 because I love watching the fields from above. I never thought I’d love to see someone in their field, but, the beautiful view of fields after processing, of any kind. The rows and the patterns are amazing and beautiful!! You just keep being you and being so amazing!! ❤💜❤💜🐑🐶🐑🐶🐑

I was raised on a farm west coast usa. We always had animals for pleasure and for adding food to the table. So, I'm here to talk about Piper. I think that Piper follows her big sister's in the barn and is learning a great deal from them. She gets along well with the sheep and even tries to herd them like big sister Kinsey(even though she's a little). She's learned to stay out of the way of vehicles and has Lucy's affinity for being around and under foot when Sandi trims sheep hooves...😂. The thing is: she's a farm dog, and she does what farm dogs do, and she's good at her job and is loved by all her sheep friends and family. So, for a viewer to speculate as to her fitness and barn qualifications is unnecessary and uncalled for. The only one that can do this is her family! ❤❤❤ Love you, Piper, and keep up the good work!

In this time after the pandemic, people have become so rude. Everyone feels that because of technology and the lack of face to face conversations, they can just say whatever they want to. We used to not want to hurt peoples feelings or not make a big deal about things. However….there is no one looking at you, so they say whatever. Just ignore those people because they don’t have a clue as to what your life is like on the farm. It’s just different from anything else. I grew up on a farm and live in the city now and it brings joy to my life to see what you do. Thank you 😘

You are SO RIGHT about people feeling as if they have a “right” to KNOWINGLY say rude/hurtful things! And unfortunately in the last few years I’ve noticed a massive steady increase in people now believing in/acting on the idea they also have the same “right” to say rude/insulting/hurtful things face to face to strangers in public…while expecting no negative reaction/social consequences & claiming to be/acting like the “victim” whenever that occur! - As someone who is relatively young who is physically disabled due to heart/low BP issues and severely unstable joints just trying my best to go about my everyday life…which is ALREADY a physical, mental & emotional struggle…I end up getting *frequent* comments from & encounters/confrontations with such people. Who believe that in their typically 39 seconds or less of seeing me from a distance they know better than me or any of my doctors. And they all claim Im “faking” my disability for benefits(I get none) or mainly for attention. Rude, stressful confrontations plus a heart condition that stress can easily set off IS NOT a good combo! So MULTIPLE such confrontations have resulted in me being taken by ambulance to the hospital and 7 of those resulted in a 2-6 day stay in hospital. All due to random strangers feeling they have the “right” to comment on. judge & interfere in the lives of complete strangers whose actions have ZERO IMPACT on those making comments or starting confrontations. “Confrontations” are always about them believing I can’t legally park in handicap parking, use stores’ motorized carts, that I don’t actually need my own wheelchair(NOT the stores!)or that Im “faking” when having a medical emergency. I truly don’t understand people anymore!

I believe there's are folks who dont realize they sound offensive. They have no filter, & believe people should hear their opinion. When someone is offended, they will argue & support themself & their opinions. Years ago, when I 1st tried FB, my daughter kept saying, "Mom, just keep on scrolling! Don't respond to negativity!" It works! A negative comment just sitting there with no replies or comments tells its own story...& no one cares!

Harvesting wheat is such a Canadian icon for me. I was born in a small prairie town. Both my parents grew up farming wheat & sugar beets. I loved our childhood visits to various family farms. No one in my extended family farms now. 💕💕

Sandy…negative thoughts from others aren’t worth your time. Piper is a working dog learning her job, and she loves being a part of it all. That huge mama…mercy me! It will be interesting to see how many are in that oven! Jesse looks great, and nice she can help you and Mark! That is a cool piece of equipment Mark is using to harvest the wheat! Have a good week! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻

I love watching you videos. I use the sound of the sheep to calm me down when I’m getting my blood pressure taken. The main reason I’m sharing is do you think you could ask Mark to construct a foldable tall table. For when you do your scans. Or Amazon it has everything.

The only thing I'm worried about with the dogs is that Piper might get hurt accidentally because she is so into things. I know sheep aren't the most dangerous farm animals out there, but that's still 200+? pounds against a tiny dog. 🙈

farm dogs learn very early to get out of the way around a farm, equipment animals etc. i was raised on a horse ranch and we owned a dog kennel. so about 30 horses anywhere from 15-25 dogs, a few goats, chickens, rabbits and until i was around 12 a few cows. never ever was one of our dogs hurt on the ranch. we learned to keep one eye out for them just in case but they are adept at moving out of the way and keeping a safe distance from things. if piper gets a head butt now and then it teaches to to stop harassing the sheep and not get too close if they are not in the mood. all part of farm life. she's only a year old still puppy stage so is still mischievous nosey but learning.

I wouldn't care what others say about Piper. She is still a puppy and wants to be with her family. On that ewe I would name her big mama jr. Can't wait to see the new lambs. Love the babies just like we all do. Glad Jess is still doing wonderful. ❤❤❤

Piper has so much a better, exciting and active life than most city dogs. She is so obviously a happy animal. My dogs were never on leash until we moved to the city. Being with her humans, learning from Kinsey, being around farm animals, just being free is a happy healthy life for dogs. Unfortunately I live it city and sometimes I'm sad for my leash bound city dog. But he does get a lot of attention and activity from me. I only get rescue dogs so that's an improvement on their life's. Love you, your family, dogs, and sheep! ❤

Sandi, you own this KZbin account, you make the video’s, no one else does on your channel.. who cares if people wanna whine about this or that, they can leave because more will come.. now about Piper, she is a part of your family, she was bought for Jess during a extremely stressful time in your life, she helped Jess and the family through a rough par of your lives.. who cares what people think, she is a part of your family, yes she can be rowdy, yes she’s not trained and yes you guys and a lot of us love her. Please ignore the backlash about her and keep it like it has been since you guys got her. Like I said this is your life, we love watching your video’s, you shouldn’t have to change a thing.. thank you for being here and doing what you do and letting us be apart of it.. we love you, your family even the fur and wool ones ❤❤❤😊😊😊
