FYI- iPhone definitely can wake you up gradually when you use Sleep Focus. You set it up & the alarm starts super quiet then slowly starts getting louder. Its actually a really great feature.
@CreatingSelfCarePlans8 ай бұрын
Yes, that’s what I was using before getting my new alarm clock. My purchase was to replace an existing bedroom clock that I used for time (some of the display lights went out) and I figured I would give this one a try to see if having the sunset feature would help me wake up better. I’ve never been great about mornings. I kept it because I enjoy the features beyond the morning alarm. I especially find the sleep sounds overnight helpful. But I do agree that the Sleep Focus on iPhone is a fantastic feature. I still have mine set up so I don’t have any disturbances overnight. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing this because it lets ppl know of a feature they may already have. The only reason I’ll be buying the hatch alarm is for the sunrise feature. I work overnight and really need to create a better home environment for myself to help me cope with the imbalance of working overnight. If it weren’t for that, I’d tell everyone not to pay for an overpriced alarm clock, when you can literally set your smart phone OR subscribe to more cost effective apps that do what the hatch alarm does, just on your phone.

@missym877 I hope the sunrise feature helps you with your sleep schedule. That’s a good idea. I never thought of it being useful for night shift workers. My husband has been working nights for over a year now.

3:16 tbh that’s trash of Hatch to hide the routine feature behind a paywall. The entire purpose of the alarm clock is to help develop better sleeping habits via routines, wtf!
@CreatingSelfCarePlans5 ай бұрын
Yeah. It was a little annoying they decided to do that. However, once you get the routine set up with the free trial, if you drop your subscription, you won’t be kicked out of the routine so at least they didn’t take that away. I do have a review coming this week of another clock that doesn’t have a membership and it has routines. That one might be a good option if Hatch isn’t a fit for you. Plus, it’s way cheaper.

@@CreatingSelfCarePlansthank you for the honest review! It was super refreshing. I learned about this alarm clock through TikTok and of course no one there is being honest, it’s all about the aesthetic. But I appreciate you being both transparent and fair. I will likely still buy it since I work overnight and like the color sunrise features, but definitely disappointed to hear about the subscription (though good to know I can set my routine in the free trial) and the limited soundscapes.

The number of subscriptions people forget about is a problem. There are even subscription services now (Rocket Money) that help you find subscriptions you forgot about and help you unsubscribe from the ones you don’t want. @@theadambragg Yes that's true. But you don't really need to spend that much money for better sleep. I got myself a nice little white noise machine and I realized don't need a new alarm clock to begin with. Sometimes you don't need the shiny thing, but if it makes your life better that is great!

Great review! I got the Hatch to see what it was about because it was quite pricey & I do not regret it. I look forward to doing my unwind routine and listening to the sleep stories or mini podcast things it comes with. I love the sunrise and sunset feature & I def think it is trial and error because the light is BRIGHT. So I tested it for a few days with different settings. I do think it is something that gets me excited to sleep and wake up to bird chirping lmao. Love the video !

The light is definitely bright, especially right next to the bed! But I think that it works well. I want to pay for one month to get more into the app options since I didn’t really play much in it before my trial ended. But I love that I have that option whenever I’m ready! Thanks for watching!

I'm starting to use a new unit, and didn't have to subscribe to a "hatch plus" that was mentioned. I'm using a Hatch app, which allows devices to be added including this Restore 2 unit, and as far as I can see, it works just fine with many options that do not require a subscription?
@tomw5vlt119Ай бұрын
@@CreatingSelfCarePlans See my comment this post, not sure subscription is required. Edit: Their sales on amaz0n says, "A Hatch+ subscription ($4.99/mo) unlocks the full Hatch sleep experience so you can enjoy expertly designed audio, lights, features and personalized tools to help you improve your sleep. One subscription for all of the Hatch devices in your home. Continuous software updates with new features and content launches on a regular basis." ... so while I'm just getting familiar with mine, there are many sounds, lights, that come with the unit ($169 currently) that don't require the subscription, but for additional options (sounds, lights, content) the subscription is an option and is a once paid for any and all Hatch devices in the account.
@CreatingSelfCarePlansАй бұрын
Correct. Hatch+ unlocks all the features. I wasn’t able to set up a wind down routine unless I had the Hatch+ but once I ended my free trial, it still allowed me to use the routine, but I cannot edit it. I don’t have my routine set to start at a set time. I just press the rest button when I want to start it and I can keep pressing it to skip to the next part of my routine if I don’t want to go through the whole routine. For example, I have a 30 jazz piano that starts playing when I press it once, but if I press it again, it goes to the next step in my routine which is 2 hours of cricket sounds. I recently realized that if I double press it quickly, I can just skip straight to the crickets. 😊
@CreatingSelfCarePlansАй бұрын
Correct. The Hatch+ isn’t required. The unit is controlled with an app that has pre-programmed a variety of options for alarms and sleep sounds. Mine came with a 30 day trial of Hatch+, which I feel at this price point they should have included a full year.

Is there a nice variety of sleep sounds to choose from without the subscription? I can't believe they have this thing on a subscription model. It's on sale for $170 right now though so I am considering it
@CreatingSelfCarePlans8 ай бұрын
I have access to 26 sleep sounds and I don’t have the subscription. But I don’t think having a subscription unlocks more sleep sounds anyway. These are the sounds that can play all night long or for however duration you set. If you are only looking for a sound machine, I would look elsewhere. The Restore 2 is too pricey to be used only in that way.

The A note (especially akin A432hz or A444hz tuning) is the lullaby note. Like Bach “Goldberg Variations in A,” which he wrote for an earl who couldn’t sleep. Even The Cure’s “Lullaby” was written in A major. I’m wondering if this gadget uses the A note as part of helping you sleep.
@CreatingSelfCarePlans4 ай бұрын
@acoustic-rabbit-hole There is a sleep sound called “432 Hz Ambience”. The rest of the sleep sounds include green noise, pink noise, white noise, brown noise, rain, thunderstorm, ocean, water, forest, owls, crickets, campfire, singing bowls, vacuum, fan, train, road trip, hair dryer, and dishwasher. In the unwind music collections, there are some classical options from Beethoven, Debussy, Mozart, etc. And that’s just that collection. There are a total of 21 collections for unwinding music. While I had my 30 day free trial, I didn’t try out too many of them, but now that I don’t have the membership, I can still preview the music. I’m planning to pay for one month so that I can change up my routine because I want to change my current unwind music to something different. I’m glad that it has so many options to pick from. I hope that helps you with making a decision!

@@CreatingSelfCarePlans Thank you! I so appreciate such a quick reply! I’m an experimental musician working on what I call my Theory of Pitch psychology. Therefore, for example I’d be taking note not just the tempo and mood of the chosen Mozart and Debussy tracks, but the literal key itself. For example, a piece in C-sharp would be very disruptive to sleep, as it is a very brash key. It’s interesting about the A-432 sound they use, because, as I was saying, the A note itself is, I believe, conducive to sleep. A a happy coincidence! You are all welcome to come “C” my work here at _The Acoustic Rabbit Hole!_
@CreatingSelfCarePlans3 ай бұрын
@Acoustic-Rabbit-Hole so awesome! I had no idea about this until your first comment, so I appreciate you letting me know about the correlation. It makes sense that some music is best for sleep versus others. If we think about it, when we watch movies, the type of music used during scenes can “set the mood” one way or another. If they pick the wrong music, it can send the audience the wrong message. So it makes sense that the same goes for what we listen to before we sleep. Probably shouldn’t listen to a playlist designed for an intense cardio workout before bed. 😏

Can you have the light brighten up gradually to get brighter and brighter ?
@CreatingSelfCarePlans8 ай бұрын
The default sunrise effect will do that. It will gradually increase in brightness the closer to the time the alarm will go off. You get to pick the max brightness. If you set up a wind down, that sunset brightness will start at the max brightness you set and then decrease gradually from there for the duration time you set. I have my sunrise set to 49% brightness and that seems plenty for beside my bed.

Looking to understand how this works. With a couple, people go to bed different times, so not interested (want to disable) the wind down and get right to the sleep noise on a regular basis. Seems like we can't disable the wind down (talk, music, etc.) permanently?
@CreatingSelfCarePlansАй бұрын
I have the option to delete the wind down music I’ve set up on my routine. But if you want to keep it there for the occasional time you might use it, you can always just double tap the rest button and it will go straight to the next part of your routine, which for me is the sleep sounds. Hope that helps!

It's not an alarm clock so much as sleep therapy. Some of us out there have terrible sleep patterns which is so very unhealthy that it takes a toll on overall health with serious symptoms developing including memory loss, for example. So if this actually works, it's worth $1000's IMO

This clock is meant more as a solution to help people who have difficulty falling asleep and/or have developed unhealthy habits that are contributing to poor sleep. @CreatingSelfCarePlans5 ай бұрын
Yes, to set it up, it needs to connect to WiFi. Also, if you need to make changes, like the time the alarm goes off, it needs to be connected to WiFi. The alarm will work if the WiFi is off. I always turn off my WiFi at night so I always need to make sure I make changes before unplugging the WiFi. One of the frustrating things have been how many times I’ve unplugged my internet before realizing that I needed to change my alarm and I’ll have to wait for the internet to come back on for me to change it. Hope that answers your question.
