Hey man, im sure someones told u already, change the cam tensioners to hydraulic. Fueling makes the best imo. If i was you, id just do the entire cam chest, the stock plate and pump is lacking alot...thatll be a worthy upgrade man 100%..., while your in there, red shift 525 cams are the way to go for the 88", and itll sound incredible with those pipes

Congrats... #1 remove the cam cover and replace cam tensioners. They are probably fine but it's not worth the risk. My nephew purchased a mint 2002 Low Rider with 7,000 miles on it. We took it home and discovered the rear shoe coming apart. While we were in there, we replaced the cams, bearings, and improved on the oil pump.

Probably need more than just that. I would take the entire front off and redo the neck barings and all the fork seals too. Wire harness should be looked at real closely. A 23 year old bike with only 7K miles sat around a lot! I do more miles than that every summer!

Dyna forever. Softails do ride smoother and if it has the tc88b it definitely rides smoother. Less vibration and what not but... At highway speeds you'll realize the Dyna is smoother. Either way nice old school looking Springer 🤙💨💯

Congrats Cam, I am Happy for you! Everything about this bike is nice but you know you still have to add a few of your own personalized touches to make it your own, I would do a chrome Thunder header and a different seat , and security with alarm!

Very nice piece, I would lower the back end some. Relatively cheap mid and I think makes softails look a lot better

Oh how time flies. To think my first Harley I ever bought is over 20 years old. Sweet ride if your wife can handle it. The old softails weren't very soft.

What a beaut! Definitely found a real gem 👍 I know you wanna make it yours by swapping a few things out and putting new stuff on, but it is so nice the way it is, hope you keep the touches mild! Maybe tail tidy, circular mirrors (she’s got curves so gotta keep the theme), air intake cover, different sissy bar? I know you’ll keep it tasteful like you did with your Dyna… but very happy for ya man! Congrats!!

I've got a 2001 FXDX that I did a full stage 1 on. I love it. Great buy brother, the bike is beautiful! AND yes, definitely check your cam chest innards. I had a tensioner that was just about a no shoe. I changed the shoes and got an S&S cam chain. Vance and Hines with no baffles with Thunder Torque inserts, tricked out the CV, 6200 limiter, SE A/C . It runs great!

I've never come across a mt500 over here in the U.K like you said they are rare but I have owned a mt350 which you can pick up quite easily for around £3000 they are a fun bike and absolutely solid

Beautiful man, id leave the mirrors, u want as much area to see behind you as possible for safety. Only thing id change is the air filter. Sns mini teardrop would look absolutely sick on there... the backplate and the cover of the sns filter are way superior to the harley filters...even tho you have a high flow element, the back plate means alot with air flow. And theres a cone shaped inner inside the cover of the sns that helps force air into the intake. Check out holy shifts sns filter on his red duece he has. The seat is awesome man is that a danny gray?

The reason the pipes might be loud is because those pipes are available with two different baffles i have them on my super glide when I ordered them i could choose which ones i wanted

Just did the 10,000 mi service on my 2000 Springer Softail and still have 70% of my cam chain tensioner left but I know I'm gonna have to switch to the hydraulic tensioner in the future, when I do I'll go with bigger cams and cam plate and oil pump. probably Feuling HP+ 525 camchest kit.

And all my riding buddies. Ended up with baggers. Which was also. The way I wanted to go. See. As U get older. A bagger is the was to go. Cause. Ya wanna bring stuff. With U. Jackets, rain gear tools. Tire repair kit. Cloths. Etc. accessories You get tired of having a backpack. Hanging off your back. John knows what I mean.
