The SLP isn’t being salty... I’m majoring in it in college. We learned in our classes that the word or phrase has to have a clear intention or purpose and the speaker must understand the meaning of it in order to use it in the correct context. It’s not being salty; it’s just how speech and language development works.

And it's amazing that the baby is good at imitation already! That in itself is wonderful! Yes, my son said "unh-uh" the first time with his dad at 2 weeks, his second word a week later was "uh-oh" with me. He has learned 3 more words now but doesn't say them consistently like the first two yet. And he recently learned how to say "buh" (which means he wants his bottle) and "guh" (which he learned because he loves his dad's guitar)... my son is 12 weeks now and I swear he is super smart and shocks me every day.

My first word was “no”. Apparently, whenever I was asked a question, I would just say no. So one day, my parents filmed it. They asked if I wanted a cookie, and I said no, very sternly. When my mom said “OK”, and got herself one without giving me one, I got mad. My mom asked again if I wanted a cookie, and little 1 and a half year old me said no. This went on for a while until they gave me a cookie because I was screaming and crying on the floor. Watching the video now is hilarious, but I can imagine being *very* upset then.

My daughter didn't day her first words until she was 4. Now she is a teacher, She teaches algebra, she teaches guitar, and she just got married. So for those of you with speech delayed children, don't fret, sometime they start off slow then speed up, catch up and sometimes surpass.❤️

That is amazing to hear! I have a speech-delayed almost 3 yr old and he can say a few words but it is so hard to be patient and watch other children his age speak so easily.. so that makes me hopeful he will be just fine!

My nephew talked early too so I believe it. I said hi when my nephew was four days old and he yelled hi. Some children can repeat what you say while an infant.

thank you. I just posted a comment about this myself. My first child was born premature, three months ahead of her time. She talked. She didn't walk as early as some babies born full term, might have, but she could talk better than most of them. Today she talks better than most adults in the U.S.A. She'll be 11 very soon.
