It doesn't matter whether a train set is big or small. It's whether or not you love playing with trains that counts. I bought two American model cabooses of Bachmann HO scale status, from Chester Model Shop, the large one cost £9.50 and the small one cost £5. I haven't used them yet, but my little American steamy named Frisky will love them I'm sure. It's like Christmas Shopping. It doesn't matter if the gift you buy is big or small, it doesn't have to be expensive. It's the thought that counts.

I have that Train Set. Well it’s just the same brand but a different train set. It has those same printed out decorations and the same tracks. I would recommend these trains do Derail easily but it’s a great product. It also has the same Locomotive sound effects.

Another great video and that set does't look half bad. They seemed to have made an effort to make it fun and interesting, even to the point of having some kind of mechanism to create steam, even if it didn't work. I like the style of the cutouts, especially the tunnel entrance. I was suprised to see switches, four of them! I think it's good value and I would buy one, although not until I saw this video. Thanks!

You CAN actually add steam there! Using some know-how, add a Lionel smoke generator!

To make the steam work you need to remove the cap on the small stack behind the main smoke stack. Put a few drops of water in there and put the cap back on.

I have to say that at $60, I personally don't see the value for money in this set. I've seen similar ones at the local Dollar Store which are usually around $10, but are the normal oval circuit with 1 or 2 switches and maybe a couple accessories. I think a set like this should be $20-$30 at most given it does seem to have more than just your typical plastic fantastic train set. The $37 John Deere set you looked at earlier this year seemed more impressive, despite having less to offer. Also, quick tip for those train sets with sounds you can't turn off. Get some duck tape and cut a piece to cover the speaker. It won't silence the train, but it will muffle the sound so it's not as loud.

I got the 10$ polar express set from Walmart for a little town my wife has. I went back and got a second one just for more track. No switches, no locomotive sound. I would've gladly spent 60 on this one.

If you wanted to get a train for under the Christmas tree…large scale…and even if it’s just a locomotive pulling one car…maybe two…in a simple circle… What should I be looking at, something in large scale, just to go in a small circle that makes a little noise and lights? There used to be a large hobby shop not to far from me that sold all of this stuff, but I don’t think they’re still in business. Plus, it’s so much easier to find what you want online anyway. I just want something nicely large scale, small round track, just to use for Christmas under the tree.

@@JimZim I can spend a $150 to $250, whether my wife likes it or not. And thanks for replying so quickly. On a related note, my NCL Sky’s Owner’s Suite sailing for 1/24/22 was cancelled (after 2 prior cancellations), and I rebooked 1/22/22 Joy, 2-Bedroom Haven Villa with large balcony.

In the $150 price range, about all that would get you in a large scale set would be a Lionel Ready To Play set, which would be a battery operated train... really a toy set, not so much an model train for adults. That's really too bad that your cruise in the Sky's Owner's Suite got cancelled. That's a pretty great way to cruise! But you will definitely love The Haven on the Joy, and the Joy certainly has a LOT more amenities and dining choices than the Sky. So, it's a little bit of a step down in the suite, but a huge step up in the whole rest of the ship.

You don't put the water down the stack, the dome is a little stopper plug, you put the water in there and THEN it makes vapor outta the stack.

Almost certainly made in China somewhere. I assume you saw that in the description of the video, there's a link to where this is sold on Amazon. There's some more information about it there... but nothing that I saw about the country of origin or the name of the company that produced it.
