I have the exact same colour and love it! It’s my first choice when going out to places where I don’t to wear my more expensive Tudor. With its partly polished parts, it strikes the perfect balance of being flashy, but not looking over the top or cheap. Especially in restaurants, bars etc with limited lighting, the polished parts and angled shiny indices work great. Also the half-links allow for good adjustment and sizing (17 cm wrist), and I never had issues with the push pins either. No quick adjustment on the bracelet though, but I guess you can’t tick all the boxes at this price point. Omega doesn’t offer this at 6 x the price either.

I think Tissot do great things in that space - for the enthusiast that might have some pricey pieces at home and you don't necessarily always want to wear them. But also for people that have a limit that's lower and they still want something that'll last a lifetime. They definitely don't look cheap (and they aren't, to be fair ha), but can actually look like they cost an awful lot more! Wear in good health, mate!

Bought one recently and I adore this watch. The green dial is a little understated and doesn't scream at you, which on this model is a plus....makes it look a little more elegant. I thought that the polished center links would look awful, but not so. However I purchased a really nice quality green leather strap with a very similar hue of green to the dial, completely changes the look (NO, you can't have too much green!) I have a number of watches from the Swatch group of companies with the P80 movement. ALL run within COSC, so it is pointless paying more a penny more for a 'chronometer' grade movement. Tissot, in particular, offers outstanding value for money across their entire range (even some of their nicer quartz powered timepieces). I recently tried the PRX 40mm, with the integrated bracelet design it was too big for my wrist. The 35 fit perfectly, however the dial is just too small, and the handset just looks chunky and clumsy. A 37.5 would be about right IMHO.

Haha, certainly a lot of green, but, hey, what’s wrong with green?! Any detractors might be…envious 🙃I think the dimensions shrinking down is the key factor in making this a more ideal everyday watch. And I’ve got to say, I would like more brushed surfaces. That and the dimensions and it’d just push this into a new tier of wearability. 🤞🏻Maybe they’ll give that consideration in the future. As for the movements, I can’t fault them, really. Swiss autos with 80-hour power reserves?! It doesn’t get much better for the money

I have this same watch. It is stunning and it gets noticed when on the wrist. Like you I would have preferred a fold over clasp with some micro adjustments. I got a great deal on it. And though I don't mind the cross hair dial in would have liked a plain dial option to choose from. Compared to the PRX...the PRX quartz is a better value. However, the Gentleman also comes in quartz version that blow the PRX out of the water (in my opinion), it's not fair to compare the Gentleman automatic to a quartz PRX.
@LumePip

I think you can get good deals as fewer people go for this one because now the PRX is there! And for a bit less cash. I like the patterned dial on the auto PRX, though, so would still have to be the auto for me. Hopefully I’ll get one in and can take a look at it! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Cheers, mate! Yeah, I agree - the Gentleman just has that versatility. There's definitely no such thng as the perfect watch (or that's the impression I've got from what I've handled - admittedly I still haven't owned a Rolex Submariner with Date, which is my ultimate grail. Yawn, I know), but this would come close just in terms of simplicity and adaptability with a few alterations. I'd even go up to a grand for something that had everything this watch packs in, but with better dimensions and a few upgraded specs.

Wonderful review of such an underappreciated timepiece, often overshadowed by the PRX. The Gentleman is much more versatile than the PRX but is just a shade large for most wrists when it comes to wearability in a dressy setting. Sporty setting? Nails it. If it had a lug to lug nearer that of the Speedy at 47 it would do bits. But this in a 38mm would be a perfect watch and would sell like mad. Thank you for bringing this beauty, especially in the green dial variant, to peolpes attention!

This watch...for me it's a six out of ten...in almost every aspect. It's a handsome watch with a decent movement but it somehow doesn't give me tingles. I have a feeling you might be speaking for a lot of people on this one, mate. Do you think if it was all brushed it’d be a different story?? Because beyond just the better price of the PRX, I think the fact it’s all brushed does it for me. But the lack of AR coating actually makes it seem *more* polished, as it’s just another surface for the light to bounce off
@AlexanderB.

@@LumePip Yes mate, if it were fully brushed it would be a different story. I'd like this with a radial brushing on the bezel, and a fully brushed bracelet. And you're right about the AR coating. You'd expect this from a watch in this market segment.

My only complaint which I have not done research on is that the watch does not have 80 hours of reserve power as claimed. I could test this in the future by recording the time I set it down and see when it stops but I digress. It seems to only last 2 full days before stopping (48 hours) which is not a huge deal but one worth looking into.

I had to see this one again today. I was wearing my PRX and saw a bloke wearing a Gentleman. I got a good look at it too, but Ibstill think it's too big. 39mm would be perfect, kind of a Tissot SARB, but would be much more wearable and all-rounder. A watch this dressy shouldn't be that big, it's a watch only desirable for young yuppies in their first office job. The PRX is more weird and unique. It has already become an icon, and the value is incredible. It's just awesome. I've worn mine a lot, and it has gotten some hairlines, but the polished edges between the links are still nice and sparkly. I love this dynamic balance between simple and refined that is the PRX design, which can probably also be said about the RO, but at a totally different price point.

I'd love this in 37mm, mate. I've been checking out a Longines Spirit 37mm and I'm just always wondering now why brands don't split the difference between those 40mm "men's" dress models and 35mm "women's" watches. 37mm watches with smooth bezels are just killer on *most* wrists.
@raven_of_zoso455
@raven_of_zoso455 Жыл бұрын
@LumePip I absolutely agree. And I don't get why so many beautiful watches only comes in 42mm or even bigger. Raymond Weil is one of these brands, I think Bulova too nowdays, even though they have quite a limited lot of interesting pieces worth considering. The Longines Spirit is a great watch, good size, tasty design, LOVELY bracelet, and so on. I love my Master Collection Moonphase. It is 42mm, though, but it actually wears quite well, 50mm lug-tip to lug-tip, but the lugs points straight downwards, so it kinda makes the watch seem both smaller and slimmer than what it actually is, and that dial is to die for. I have the black one, and with the white hands on chrono pushers it kinda looks like a Speedy and some Patek Grand Complication had a lovely shag at some posh ski resort in the Swiss Alps. which, in my opinion is a perfect match between sporty and dressy, on the bracelet it looks very contemporary and sporty, but it on a nice, taprered black leather strap, preferably something a bit chunky in the middle, and even white switching works with this, and boom it looks like a £100k piece. I think that's one of the things I think Longines does very well, even though they are not the cheapest, they are incredible value for money, and the quality is on par with much more expensive brands. Ok, gonna see the rest of the Vario 1918 video now. Looks like a cool watch.

Better than PRX and, even though it has light anti-reflective sapphire, to cut down on reflection I went with the silver dial which IMO is even more elegant than the other color options. If it was the PRX, I think it would be the blue that would take my fancy, tbh!

Great video! Personally I’m going after a Hamilton Kakhi King. However, I’d throw in the Certina DS1 and DS Podium as an everyday, budget Swiss timepiece. Cheers!

Very nice choices, indeed! The Certina I had was a peach of a watch, so I can imagine those two are solid pieces

The Gentleman better. The PRX is overpriced. The PRX is a Beautiful watch but since the bracelet is the selling point I believe the Quartz version of the PRX is the better bang for your buck and the blue dial looks better than that waffle dial.

I think this watch would've been better at 38mm instead of 41mm
