Is this Controller a Scam? | Backbone One (PlayStation Edition) Review | SCG

The Backbone One has to be one of the greatest ideas I've reviewed on this channel. The ability to turn your phone into a handheld gaming console is something I think all of us would love to have and the Backbone promises to do that. PlayStation even partnered with Backbone to make an exclusive PS5 edition of the controller thats built for remote play. But there's a catch. Well, a few of them. In this review we'll see if the good out weighs the bad for this handheld gaming controller.

You do not need backbone plus to use the backbone button as the PlayStation button in remote play. It’s just a half second hold for the quick menu and a long hold to go to the ps5 Home Screen. I use it every day without paying a dime for backbone +.

@@gr8latino buy used. If you don’t care about the free year of backbone+ ,etc. They are all over ebay for less than $50. I’m thinking about doing just that so I can play on the Delta emulator. I’m an iPhone user btw.

You don’t even need the subscription to use the controller. All the subscription does is give you a free trial to a couple of services, and gives you a few extra features. That’s it.

Is it possible to still have a phone inside the backbone while its plugged into a pc? Id like to use it for dual screen gaming (3ds emulation for example) so my monitor is the upper screen and my phone the lower.

If you have spectrum make an appointment for a TC and have them check the lines, you should get more than that guaranteed. Everything is hardwired on my and and easily get 800+ if it’s supported. Solid video, still considering 👀💪🏻

The game launcher shows up on my backbone 1 app without signing up for backbone plus. Not saying that it is right but my experience isn't the same as yours. I mostly use it for remote play and cod mobile so haven't really had a reason to pay for backbone plus

No. It’s seriously good. I use it for my retro emulators and android games that support controller. No subscription needed. For PS5, I use PS Portal. Too bad the stretching bridge doesn’t support 8 inches tablet.

The backbone subscription service is only necessary on the lighting cable iphone addition one android/type c connection models have all the "paywall locked" options right out the box

I like im not super picky i have played god of war and tekken 7 and 8 online battles from across town with just cellular connection. Once you get use to the layout it works well .

I actually used Backbone to play and successfully extract in HellDivers 2. Using the map was a pain, but other than that it worked fairly well.

Ive bought a lot of these types of controllers and the backbone is definitely my favorite by far because it keeps my phone light and smaller form factor. I only use emulators and maybe so cod mobile and its perfect. I paid full price and yea its a little expensive but imo its the best controller for my needs and ive played it pretty heavy for a year and its help up perfectly no issues. If this looks like something you want and you can afford it you will not be disappointed. I have the original black one

I have a backbone that I was using with my Samsung Z Fold 4 and I was enjoying it. The issue came after gaming for a few hours my phone got hot and the hinge of my phone messed up and now I can no longer open my phone. Gaming with the Z Fold's bigger screen was great but the phone could not handle it because it is not made for heavy gaming. I hate gaming with smaller phones so I ended up getting a PlayStation Portal.

I’ve had mine for over 2 yrs now going on 3 and it is the PlayStation version. As an active backbone member I can honestly say, you don’t know what you’re talking about. It is the best portable gaming controller I have ever had and the way you use it does show that you need a more time using it to get a better understanding of it. The backbone game controller is worth the price and everything else that comes with it

@@lorenzocrump7439 real quick, so when it comes down to connecting to my ps5 I need WiFi but if I’m just playing cod mobile or Diablo Immortal or anything mobile game that is controller compatible I always use my controller anytime anyplace. Now I have been paying for the subscription since I bought the controller and at the time I did not know that we can use the backbone app without paying for the subscriptions and to be honest I’ll probably still be paying it. The monthly subscription is only $3-$4 and if you don’t want to pay anything then there is a way to use the backbone app without paying

Only Xbox AKA Microsoft has awesome cloud gaming with lotless lag in crane drops then PlayStation I hardly have any issues don't matter what I play my Xbox games on but have never played a solid game through sodium that came out just for PlayStation game flags a lot If you want to cloud game Microsoft Xbox PC whatever anything that doesn't have Sony on it is the way to go

Had a backbone but as a company they're greedy and I hope they fall off . That is absolutely false advertising, the physical controls are nowhere near the quality of a real PS5 or Xbox controller yet this cost more . Add the fact there exist other mobile controllers for cheaper with BETTER hardware albeit no software. Also for android users they charge the same for the black version or the PS edition yet the black version CANNOT play PS remote play .this controller is decent not the best and definitely overpriced

Backbone had a exchange program where they'd replace the black version with the PlayStation version free of charge because the black one absolutely didn't support PlayStation remote play through the official app
