Nice review. Seriously, screw hitbox. I bought a Vitrix pro just to avoid spending money on a hitbox. I even got _petty_ petty and got a Razer Kitsune for outdoor use (let's be real, ain't no way that Vitrix leaving the house 🤣). When I heard they locked smaller family owned shops out from making leverless controllers, it was a done deal for me. Maybe I'll get this as a gift for my brother, lol

Oh man, perfect timing. I just ordered this a few days ago. The GP2040 version really seems like a win-win and it’s great to see it in action. I’m very jealous of that art! One detail for anyone interested in the F8 model specifically. The normal F8 has the extra buttons mapped to Up and Down. If you want to use the extra buttons for something like parry or drive impact, get the F8-R3L3.

Thanks, and yeah GP2040-CE has been making these controllers a lot more accessible. Good note on the model as they do offer two F8 versions.

Everything is better then the Hitbox lol. I got a Fightbox F1 but lately I've been using a Haute 42 T16. Swapped the switches out, put in custom art and now I like it more than sanwa style switch controllers. There's so much budget friendly stuff out there so why waste money on the OG Hitbox.

I'm still on the fence between Fightbox F1 or Nacon Daija. I have currently 8bitdo arcade stick and want to "make sure" if it's really me or the stick that holding me back haha. I feel like leverless is more suitable for me since I'm used to keyboard and never have any experience playing arcade in the old days. This video move me closer to choose fightbox.

It’s honestly about practice and not so much as the controller. Some people prefer one or the other because it’s what they’re used to and it’s what they’ve practiced on. I would recommend checking out JoyStickNY’s tutorial on youtube for how to use an arcade stick if you’re having any issues with the learning process. If you’ve used keyboard for other games, and that’s what you’re used to, try using it to play fighting games and see if you want to make the switch to a leverless controller.

@@ChronoAscension i am planning to buy this, but i have a question... when they sent you this with the 10$ customized panel, did you also told them about having all the buttons to be black instead of the usual black/white and red?
@ChronoAscension
@ChronoAscension 5 ай бұрын
They sent it out to me and I didn’t give them any instructions on the button color, but I didn’t do it through the standard ordering process. I would recommend emailing them about it before you order and ask what button colors are available, and see what they say.

When you had your art on your fightbox Did you have to order them both together for them to do that I’m looking to get the F1 model but I found one where I can just the case with no buttons and customize it to my liking
@ChronoAscension
@ChronoAscension Ай бұрын
I did not purchase it, they sent it to me and I requested that art be added. If you go to their website, you’ll see a C and S section at the top that will help you with the customization and support sections. As for the standalone case, I believe that has a plexi with the fightbox logo printed on with a white background, and I believe it is a direct print to the panel which makes it so that art cannot be added unless a clear panel is purchased.

im looking at the K1 or F1. I have the B1 but its smaller than I would like, and the MX cherry black switches are responsive but a bit mushy. not sure I'd like the Sanwa buttons on the F1
@ChronoAscension
@ChronoAscension 5 ай бұрын
The K1 uses Crown202 buttons which I've heard feel really nice but I haven't personally tried them. Some people like them more than Sanwa. They usually come with Cherry MX Speed Silver switches which people really like, and you can always swap them out for other MX style switches if you want to change up the feel.

The question I have which brought me to this video is if that GO2040 site can change the direction buttons to register as analog stick inputs rather than D-Pad when hooking it up to a Switch? I'm just a silly guy wanting to play the FGC characters (mainly Kazuya) in Smash with this box
@ChronoAscension
@ChronoAscension 4 ай бұрын
On the GP2040-CE you can look up the shortcuts to change the input mode between the Dpad, left stick, and right stick, so this can be done. While this is possible, it may be better to spend $50 more on their R-Models or another box style controller, as they are designed for Smash. If you got the F8-Pico version, you would not have “modifier” buttons which allow for tilt attacks. On the website it says they use Pico boards for the R-Models, however I believe that they use another type of firmware as it says you will need an adapter for it to work on the Switch, so it is likely that you will need to buy a GameCube adapter. I would email them to double check on that part though.

Are those real sanwa buttons?

Yes, they felt like Sanwa buttons when I played with them, and when I opened it up to check, they were real Sanwa buttons. At 5:14 you can see me checking if they are real.

how did you make that art
@ChronoAscension
@ChronoAscension 5 ай бұрын
I used a website like Photoshop called Photopea.com, and you can download the template or ask them for the template to modify and create your own art for. If you don’t have the knowledge on how to make the art, you can always pay people to make it for you.
