Is This DISNEY LORCANA Any Good?

For anyone thinking about getting this I wanted to share. I bought this hoping to get my lady and kid to finally play a TCG with me (they wouldn't touch MTG with a ten foot pole). I'm happy to say it worked! They couldnt resist the art and they learned so fast, and then this morning, my 12 year old girl heard me wake up, and before I could get out of bed, she came and asked if I would play with her! I am one happy guy over here.

What a lovely story, well if any game could get family and the non-gamers in our life to the table its probably this.

@@DicevsCards I think this factor might be one reason that Lorcana may not get more complex and deep. The IP has the appeal, but they want children to learn to play and ultimately companies are making decisions to drive profit will keep the simple gameplay. That's my guess anyway

If anyone is still thinking of getting into this game, its a fantastic TCG now. With the implementation of new card types such as locations which act as defensive cards. I could not recommend this game enough now.

I'm a pretty casual card gamer and really was NOT following the hype-train for Lorcana and what I have seen so far seems to be exactly what you said... an intro card game for people that aren't already card gamers .... but there is potential that additional releases and expansions could increase the complexity and deck building to bring experienced gamers BACK into after a few sets... so do you as a non-new card gamer pick it up and just hold onto it (and play with newer players, young players, and casual family) while you wait to see if it ends up being a deeper game? Or will it always just be a light casual TCG?

I think there's ultimately a limit to how deep it can get in large part due to the lack of reactive interaction in the game and changing that would effectively require a change in the contents of the turn structure, that being said they could certainly layer in more triggered effects that sort of enables more player interaction on your opponents turn. But the above isn't necessarily a problem for the casual end of the market and so long as they expand the card pool in an organic fashion, drip feeding new keywordsin and facilitating new deck archetypes as they go then there's no reason it can't be a success when talking just about its gameplay.
