Yeah I agree. Little dogs have the hardest time giving birth and can even die giving birth. Leave it to responsible professional breeders that do testing and know what they’re doing. Even then it’s still risky but just regular people need to get their pets neutered/spayed. I understand accidental litters can happen with any dog but some dogs are just so much at risk for death without a vet present or a cesarean and still could die. My moms chihuahua almost died because the pup died inside of her and almost killed her too. Was at the vets for awhile till she was out of danger but made her very sick and so my mom had her spayed and she’s now 16 yrs old. Just not smart to breed little breeds on purpose unless it’s a professional and they then have to take all the necessary precautions for mom and babies and be close with a vet.

I agree with the sentiments of some commenters here regarding the breeding of those men's dogs; when I read the title my immediate reaction was "No. No, she isn't". However, at least they were responsible enough to seek veterinary advice before just going ahead and breeding them like some careless owners do. You could tell Michael and Anderson care deeply about their dogs and, while they wanted to breed them, they did still want to put the health of their little dogs first. So sad hearing about what happened to Oscar.

They also didn't want to breed them for business but in a way to continue the family. My grandma does this and she has already had 4 generations of the same family. She always has 2 dogs at a time, a parent and child, and when the old one dies of old age she tries to breed the child to continue the family. I don't agree with it, but her first dog was from when my dad was a child, so in a way it's like we are going through life together. They also live really long, so she must be doing something right, the second dog was about two years older than me and he died when I graduated high school.

@@ChibiChidorii There are many reasons to breed a dog. You don't say what breed your grandmother's dogs are, but it's not like she is a hoarder or puppy mill. Usually I am of the opinion that only dogs with superior genetics should be bred, but when you have a dog that you love so much that you want to continue the line, well that is a happy thing to me.😃

Diane Bushby I agree. I have a tiny chihuahua mix (unknown father) and she’s barely 8 pounds & I was worried about the anesthesia because she’s so tiny but she is spayed. There is no way I’d take a chance on a pregnancy & I’m continually horrified at what people, who insist they’re pet lovers, will do to dogs. @@bezzerwizzer6448 what, you promote puppy farms? What we need is small scale educated breeding, but probably even more importantly better informed and educated owning. If everybody would properly know everything they should know about having a pet and about the kinds of pets they would like to possess (yes, possession is what most people desire. Just having it and occasionally share a little time with it) then I bet there would be at least 3/4 less pets than what we have today. That is, assuming most people have their hearts in the right place. You're right that most people think they are doing well while in fact they are doing things that are bad for the animal. But you don't fix it by bringing breeding into the hands of money-driven people.

Isabella was so meek and seemed tired but the improvement after the surgery shows that her personality hadn’t fully come out because she was in pain and/or weak from the heart defect. I feel so bad for the family after losing Oscar. I almost cried a few times. Was anyone else kind of judging them in the beginning for wanting to breed? Well they did the responsible thing and potentially saved a life and most certainly helped make Isabella’s worth living- I mean the change in her is dramatic IMO. I’m glad they went to the vet or they could’ve lost both of their babies in the blink of an eye and possibly also lost the puppies or destined them to a life of suffering had they not gotten her checked out. All in all, I think they are great daddies.

Yeah, I think they did do the right thing in getting Isabella a full health check before letting her breed. Also, unlike many backyard breeders they weren’t doing it to sell puppies. They just wanted the joy of having puppies and probably would have given away most of the puppies. My chihuahua has a similar heart valve defect that will require surgery to repair, and unfortunately I live in the USA. Hospitals that will do heart surgery on a nine pound dog are few and far between here. I took her on an eight hour road trip to see a cardiologist only to find out the procedure he had to offer wasn’t a good option for my little princess. It wasn’t a total loss though, as I learned that other options are possible. Only problem is that it’s at a different hospital much farther from my home that I would have to fly to. I love my doggie that much that I will get on an airplane for the first time in my life for her.

I watch Victoria and get good advice from her, but sometimes she forgets that other people have to leave their dogs at home eight or more hours a day. If I work eight hours a day, commute half an hour to and from work each way, that is nine hours- and sometimes I work late. There was one episode where Victoria made someone tether themselves to their dog and take it out each time it needed to go to the bathroom, and then told another person that dogs need to go out every two hours. No one can go around tethered to their dog and take it out every two hours. She does not believe in pee pads except for elderly incontinent dogs. I am sorry, but pee pads are needed if you are going to have to leave your dog alone for nine hours a day.

Why on earth would you want to breed that little baby? There are tons of rescue services for different breeds, so if you want another dog, adopt one! I have never bought a dog from a breeder, nor will I ever. Everyone of my babes have been adopted and most of those were either older, abused, and/or had health issues. I encourage people to rescue a beautiful little one and give them a loving home. Some of these poor babes have never had an ounce of kindness shown them. A heart problem can be devastating, as I have just found out myself with my little one. However, with hard work, tenacity, the right meds, and a vet sent from above, he has been doing wonderfully. And then on the other page you have this amazing woman who dedicates everything to help and protect these amazing, beautiful dogs. My prayers and thoughts go to her and the amazing work she is doing.

@Cullen Freeman While that is a very good point, and I love that they consulted with a vet before any attempts to breed, I'm of the opinion that too many people are breeding their dogs right now. So many animals are already in our shelters and rescues, thousands are being killed every year because of a need for space, but people still make more and more puppies and kittens even though there are perfectly lovely fur babies already in the world. Not discrediting, but reframing this entire thing.

So some breeding has to be done haha. I consider "irresponsible breeding" to be breeding without concern of health or genetics, a lot of tests should be done before even THINKING about breeding to see if it's possible. The cruelty and neglect cases are the hardest thing to deal with in Rescue. There are so many evil people out there. We once took in a very old Sheltie who had been thrown out of a moving car (witnessed by numerous people). She lost an eye because of it. When she was brought to us, she literally had pus running down the sides of her face and dried pus caked into her fur from such bad ear infections. She was completely deaf due to scar tissue that had closed up her ear canals from chronic ear infections left untreated over the years. And to top it off, she was in kidney failure. We got her all fixed up and decided to adopt her ourselves. She ended up living a wonderful, happy and pain-free 18 months with us until she finally went to The Bridge. We love and miss Hope so much.

The love that these vets display goes so far beyond the sterile vet visits that leave me worried about bringing a pet home when they need to stay at a hospital to be monitored and cared for. While our vets are very knowledgeable, I wish they were less clinical and loved our animals more. 😢

exactly, "this is my fourth pug and only one so far without eye problems" big, big yikes. I hope she's rescuing these pugs, not buying them as pups. @Gabby Mouse a public comment on a public video has got nothing to do with minding their own business, it can go both ways, why aren't YOU minding your own business then? no one asked you to reply either. These animals suffer serious health issues purposely bred into them with total disregard to the limits of their anatomy. Then daft buggers like you think it's a political issue about controlling people's lives. Think a moment harder.

If Jimmy was kept in a tiny crate for his whole life, unable to move even enough to stay out of his mess, then I feel that's how those people need to live the rest of their lives. In a tiny crate, messing themselves, unable to stand or shift around..... An eye for an eye in the name of justice for beautiful brave Jimmy!

The schnauzer has separation anxiety and is badly socialized it has nothing to do with health it's just something you need to work on/train on. With how many times he was abandoned this is common.
@jamiehall1460
@jamiehall1460 3 жыл бұрын
Health can play a role though, if the dog feels unwell it will want to be with its pack for help and protection. My rescue shiba has separation anxiety that has gotten better with time and training but will flare up if she doesn't feel well or safe, such as when we get thunder storms she wants to be close to me and the last time she went to the vet for a tooth removal I had to sleep on the floor with her (though I have to admit the later example was more so I could keep an eye on her but she was also being clingy that night)
@destinationaddictionsamsar7894
@destinationaddictionsamsar7894 3 жыл бұрын
@@jamiehall1460 Separation anxiety is the fear of being separated. When they're scared or feeling unwell and come to you that is not separation anxiety. You just have a very insecure dog that you need to work on it's confidence. Now there's nothing wrong with giving your dog love especially when they need it but you also have to keep in mind that by you loving on them while they're scared you can be rewarding that behavior making them more likely to act scared for you to love on them.

I understand that Hording is a psychological problem, and that it is kind of a mental illness and should be recognised as such. But what was done to poor Jimmy, was just beyond cruel, and I feel that even a Horder should have known that this was no way to treat a dog. But hopefully, now, the horder themselves are locked up, in a cramped little cage, and is being left to rot for a few years... But sadly, I doubt it ... and thats the REAL crime here, because if Jimmy had of been a child, rather than a dog, then things would have probably been far more different. =CCC But at least Jimmy is pain free now, and living with someone who loves him =DDD

Just bc they're mentally ill doesn't mean they're not dangerous. They need to be locked away from innocent victims...
@giggiwidit5638
@giggiwidit5638 3 жыл бұрын
@@cindyrissal3628 I agree with you in this instance. What this person did was wrong, and they deserved to be punished for it. But I have do to say, that lumping all mentally ill people into one category, and locking them away, just because they COULD be a danger to others, isn't the answer. Because if we just systematically did that, then a lot of innocent mentally ill people would also end up being locked away ... and a lot of people who weren't actually mentally ill, but might be thought of as being such, simply because they maybe didn't think and feel in the same way as 'Normal' people, could also end up being locked away ... (and let's face it, what is 'Normal' anyway ? because really, there is no such thing as 'Normal' as normal for one person, isn't necessarily normal for another, and so the very concept of 'Normal' is flawed ) So we cannot just throw a blanket over mental illness, and say that all mental illness is the same, that all mentally ill people need to be locked up, because they MIGHT be, or become, a threat... For instance I suffer from a mental illness. I have battled with Clinical Depression on and off for the last 30 years, and, as such, in the eyes of the medical profession, I am classed as being 'Mentally Ill/unstable' and, when I'm depressed, I do not behave physically, mentally, or emotionally, in the same way that I would, when I'm not depressed. So should I be locked up, just in case I might become dangerous ? I'm sorry. This post is not meant to attack you, in any way, shape, or form. I'm just trying to help you to understand that we cant just pigeon hole people for being mentally ill, we have to take every case on case by case basis, and YES, by doing this, then we DO run the risk of making mistakes. But at the same time ... if we don't do things this way, then we will end up simply locking people away 'just in case', and we would be going back to the dark ages of mental illness again ... What happened to Jimmy was a crime, and I wish that it had not of happened, and I do hope that the person responsible was brought to account for what they did. But at the same time, we cannot simply have a knee-jerk reaction to this. We have to look at it a single case, and not as a whole entire thing, because if we do that, then we risk making matters worse, rather than better ...... aaannnd I'm going to shut up now, because I think that I have waffled on about this very weighty subject enough =9

I felt something was wrong with Isabella right away. Her lethargic demeanor and shaking had me worried. I don’t really believe in breeding dogs when there’s tons of dogs to be rescued in shelters but I appreciate that these owners took them in to get examined first. Many owners don’t do that. Ultimately they did what was best for their animals and unfortunately one tragically lost its life… Rest In Peace Oscar. So sorry for your loss. ♥️
