Ah. Reminds me. I went with a friend to a guitar store to check out multi-effects boxes. He spent an hour playing with the latest one. And finally found a sound I Iiked. Hey, Carl! That's a great sound, the best you've found yet. Dave, that's the through setting.

Right now, the best bang for buck is last year’s model. I recently bought a Matribox 2 for half the price of a Pro. If you don’t really need XLRs or the color coded buttons (like if you use it for home recording) you get the same sound quality from the Matribox 2. Sure, you get more IRs in the Pro … but how many do you really need ?

The presets are way over cooked but the drives, reverb, and delay can easily be dialed down. It's a cool bit of kit. Very pleased with mine especially at £239 on an Amazon special.

I like that the Looper has "Auto Record" for anyone using this on their desktop. There's also Software for MAC/PC

I've never understood why XLR outputs are important - is it just to avoid using an adaptor? Or is there some other benefit?
@Sidivan3 ай бұрын
These days, for most practical conversations, yes, it’s just a connector. However, that’s not universally true. In some applications, the levels may be different (mic vs line level) and in cases of phantom power, XLR or TRS is required as opposed to TS (guitar cable).

@@Sidivan thanks - it was specially on multi FXs that I was thinking about - I have one with 1/4 and XLR and never understood why I'd use the XLR outputs over the 1/4. But sounds like there's no reason other than to have a choice of connectors?
@PoPo-xp7yk3 ай бұрын
@@robinr22 If you are plugging your multi FX into a speaker or mixer a few feet away 1/4" TS is fine. If you are plugging into a mixer at the front of house (more than 15' or so), use XLR. They are "balanced" and eliminate noise the cable will pick up in a longer run.

@@PoPo-xp7yk ah, I see, that makes perfect sense! I get it now, thanks so much for clarifying!

Anybody got any advice on a good, reasonably priced looper for use with the Mk2 Katana?
@jefft58543 ай бұрын
A simple Dito works fine for me and my 50mk2 Katana. It does not make sense to get a more complex pedal without an FX loop. If you have a 100 k2, you might want a higher end looper to take advantage of the FX loops.
@tonyhudson82353 ай бұрын
@jefft5854 I was thinking something similar. I like to use my katana to record straight to laptop. It's great for that. Didn't want to go getting a second amp just for practicing with a looper, so I'll probably go the cheaper option.

That's funny you said that, I was enjoying his playing. It sure beats the ridiculous noodle fest that a lot of guitar players do !!
