I switched over to a light weight 40V string trimmer a few years ago and it's the best $150 I ever spent on a yard tool. No winterizing. No spending every spring rebuilding an effing carbeurator, no fumes, no noise. The crickets in my yard are literallly louder than my trimmer and the turkeys browsed in the field right next to me while I was using it last month. The battery lasts about 45 minutes (which is about my stamina for trimming in one go) and charges in about the same time. So I just switch over to a different task for 40 mintues if I didn't finish all the trimming by the time the battery dies. That said, they won't replace gasoline for lawn crews any time soon because those guys run those machines sun up to sun down and wouldn't have a way to charge the batteries (except by ICE generator) while on the go. And of course buying the extra batteries runs the cost WAY up.

I've used the 60v trimmer on my acre of land for two years now, and it's AMAZING. The Greenworks electric is 'almost' as strong as the 35cc Honda gas trimmer it replaced, so I think the 25cc rating is legit. I'm definitely not going to miss rebuilding my weedeater every other year! I purchased an aftermarket 5 ah battery to keep things going, and that was a game-changer. I now get over an hour of continuous weed abatement on a single charge. Both the string trimmer and the high-capacity battery are HIGHLY recommended.

As an owner of the same weed eater, I can confirm that everything he says if true. The string that comes with it gets the job done well if you are wondering.

now research the footprint left in the mining and manufacturing of batteries... a diesel car has a smaller footprint over 5 year ownership than the same model in ev... once manufacturing charging and recycling of the batteries is taken into account... germany did the study... had to be said... in looking to cordless as its just more convenient

I got myself the greenworks 60 4MaH push mower last summer, and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! over a year now, and it’s still holding up wonderfully. I’ve been needing a trimmer for awhile now, and I wanted to be able to swap out my 60v battery between yard tools. So I ordered the 60v trimmer yesterday, and I’m so excited for it to come. My yard is needing a good trimming

I own the 60V leaf blower, lawnmower and snow blower. The snow blower is okay, does a mediocre job but works. The leaf blower and lawn mower blow away gas mowers. I wouldn’t go 40V personally. But the 60V is perfect.

All my lawn equipments are electric. They are great! The only gripe I have is battery doesn’t last as long as it should I.e no temperature management
@jeremyking6146

They look and seem great. however, landscape companies will never use battery powered equiptment due to the down time of charging. nothing really beats gas, never worry about down time and power difference is actually significant with gas powered units. battery units are great for residential use, but for any commercial or industrial applications, gas powered can't be beat. if you are really worried about emissions and think you are going to save the world by using a battery unit, then do that.

Just got the 60V blower and hedge trimmer and I can say without a doubt they are far less powerful than a gas powered unit. However, they still get the job done and I don't have the issues I would with gas powered tools so although they are not nearly as strong they still get the job done

I just assembled my green works weed trimmer. I love the green works products. And I was excited to get out there and get trimming. But I have to say the way the head is assembled in regards to managing the string is a nightmare! Especially if you have arthritis or you’re old. And I am not either of those things I’m very strong but trying to push the two side tabs while removing the top has proven nearly impossible. Once I finally did get the top taken off usingA screwdriver to smash in one of the tabs from the side finally loosening it. It was the same nightmare with the string as every other trimmer. It untangling itself and not being able to realign it inside of the housing so that it comes out as it should by tapping the head on the ground while the motor is moving.

I bought greenworks 40v lawnmower, trimmer, chainsaw, 2Ah and 4Ah batteries, a few years ago. It all cost a little less than $500 if I remember right. This is my 3rd or 4th summer using them, and I have no complaints. The only issue I have had is my battery charger stopped working early this summer and I had to replace it ($20 or $30 bucks). The mower is powerful and quiet, and it works with no maintenance. Trimmer is better than the mower in my opinion, its just so convenient to slap a battery in it and not worry about if it will start or not lol. The chainsaw is a little under powered and not something I would use if I cut a ton of wood for a fireplace or something like that, but it is extremely convenient in the back yard, and it feels like its going to last a very long time. The batteries for these tools are a bit expensive but if you keep them inside and out of the cold they will last. I haven't noticed any degradation in the batteries at all.

I have both this updated model and the previous attachment capable model. I ended up shelving the newer model mainly because the over sized guard blocks my view when trying to edge. It sometimes prevents the bump feed from advancing because it hits the ground first. The unit will not operate without the guard being installed. The older model feels like it has more power and the guard is narrower. Other lineups have came out with 8ah, 12ah batteries. Greenworks has not. Neither feel like the power of gas or have the same amount of run time.

they're no reason to buy 2 stroke garden tools anymore whatsoever, but there is Definity a need for 4 cycle mowers with any yard that isn't small. time saved with the 60 or 80v trimmer and blower is significant over the cheap 18-20v stuff. Only buy 60v plus

Ramon Benito I think you are right when talking about homeowners or renters, but in the commercial space, they will still use gas or a combination of both. Batteries are a problem when you are talking 12 or 16 hour day, that can be more commonplace than you think!

@@CCGR-2024 Also, when hurricanes hit my country, most people don't have generators, and it's a pain to find a place that has generators and that are willing to charge the batteries. So, gas is the way to go. Maybe now that solar panels are becoming normal and affordable, we can then buy many batteries and have them charged.

I'm gonna switch from a plug in Greenworks mower to the new EGO battery mower... Plugin mowers are not good for yards with trees/obstacles. Plugin Trimmer/Blower/Everything else is fine except for chain saw/trimmer/mower. EGO's newest mower I can tell by the way it's designed it's built from the ground up. Those batteries are pricey! Battery and fast charger cost more than the tool itself...
