fun fact about Turkish delight: in the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, around that time in the war the resources were finite, making it difficult to make the sweet treat. so being presented with such a dish made it a fairly easy decision to betray his whole family. This moment was already killing me, and then your brilliant stupid comment pops up, and I hate you so much for making my sides literally explode off my body.

Time for my weekly “arin putting random things in his mouth” brain rot slop 😊

I don't think we're in his target demographic anymore. Am I rude for still being here or is arin rude for trying to appeal to a younger audience with influencer slop content?

Hooray, more Arin eating :D the food ones are always the best - on one side, immense love of food, on the other side, intense hesitation to even taste most of it rofl.

My mom and i made potato candy together, and it was amazingly easy to make. The potato becomes the starch and flour the sugar forms the dough and the peanut butter is just a filling. You are rolling sweetened potato dough around peanut butter. And its perfection.

Hardtack was frequently eaten by pirates, where they would go and beat a brick of it with their fist to get a chunk. It would also frequently have weevils in it so pirates would mostly eat it in the dark so they wouldn’t know if they had a piece with weevils or not

I kinda love that. “I need to eat. But I don’t wanna eat bugs. But this is all we have. I’m just gonna eat it and what will be will be. I don’t wanna know.”

Hardtack or ships biscuits were common fare on pretty much any sailing vessel back then. The lack of moisture meant they could be stored for long periods of time. Actually, pirate ships were more likely to have better food than naval or trade ships since they didn’t do a lot of long-duration sailing. They tended to operate closer to shore and had better access to fruit and other fresh food.

@@Shadic0699 There were often multiple bugs. You always hoped to get a smaller bug so you didn't taste it as much. You know, the lesser of two weevils.
