As a pro clock solver I can confirm that clock is revived

Woah, clicked on this video watched it and it was super good. Was very shocked when I checked you channel and you only have 500 subscribers. This is quality stuff you earned my sub

Yeah it's a pretty divided subject. Hope to see you at some more comps too!

Some things as well is the new methods for this event. Some of these methods can be easy to learn, yet fun and can allow one to get many great times. For me, learning 7s flip is very easy, and it allows me to get great times, and it is very fun. That made clock a fun event for me.
@Dagg3618 ай бұрын
Clock revived, but not only for this reg, but for the new methods mastered and new people trying those.
@ananimatingcuber8 ай бұрын
I was (& still am) against the pin push change, I personally think it would’ve been better if only accidental pin pushes were allowed, I guess since we’ve seen so many good results with these regulations it wouldn’t be productive to reset the regulations and remove everyone’s good results but I’m still a little salty
@ananimatingcuber8 ай бұрын
Also I think clock had already been revived by this point, and the overhead cameras for comp streams had solved the spectator friendliness
@TWCubed8 ай бұрын
the reason why they didn't say "only accidental pin pushes are allowed" is because there's a very fine line in between accidental and on purpose, and it's tough to see from a normal camera POV. on top of that, inattentive judges would have to say whether it was on purpose or by accident as for your point about how overhead cameras solved the spectator friendliness, it's still insanely hard to see the progress of the solve with a method like 7-simul which doesn't flip. The only time I see someone's progress in a clock solve is when they flip, and the overhead cameras doesn't really help too much
@TetraCubing8 ай бұрын
@@TWCubed tbh i partially disagree on the overhead camera thing, it makes it much easier to see the clock solve opposed to a spectator POV angle when you cant even see the state of the clock most of the time
@TWCubed8 ай бұрын
@@TetraCubing afaik, there are only two streaming channels (one in great lakes, one in NorCal) that don't only stream major events, so people outside these areas don't have access to overhead cameras

As someone who has solved a clock at LEAST once I can say UNDOUBTEDLY with my ABSOLUTELY VALUABLE AND INFORMED OPINION that clock might be back
@DRclocker8 ай бұрын
FMC and mbld are also not spectator friendly. This shouldn’t be an argument to remove clock.
@TWCubed8 ай бұрын
yes, but FMC and MBLD are related to many other events (3x3, OH, BLD) on top of that, they are usually held separately from other parts of the competition, unlike clock
@DRclocker8 ай бұрын
Yeah I guess you're right. I just don't want clock to be removed because it's my main event lol@@TWCubed
@tetrawaffle3373 ай бұрын
spectator friendliness is still a bad argument. Woth overhead cameras, clock is more spectator friendly than events like 2x2 or pyra because it’s easier to se what’s happening because clock doesn’t have algs

Clock is underrated.
@cariyaputta8 ай бұрын
Clocks are so expensive, it is not a twisty puzzle, so there must be some behind the scene deals between WCA and clock manufactures. Not to mention their bullshit regulation regarding printed logos on BLD events.

Tbh, as a sub 8 clock solver I think this event should be switched out for an event like FTO
@zeroing0006 ай бұрын
Tbh, as a sub 5 clock solver I think this event should stay the same as the amount of FTO solvers are far less than clock solvers, and fto hardware is far behind. If I was making the decision years ago to add clock I would say no, but with the amount of innovation in clock hardware and solving, we shouldn’t remove it now.
@SamSpeedCubes6 ай бұрын
@@zeroing000 FTO is a much better event for the wca than clock, diansheng is releasing a new magnetic FTO and clock has not been innovated since the qiyi clock, and the new one isn’t an innovation, it’s the same clock with different magnet strengths, the innovation in solving is 7 simul, which when compared to every other wca event isn’t really that innovative, even when you compared to FTO it isn’t super innovative, ofc the wca shouldn’t remove clock, but if they were to have to make a decision between they should choose FTO as it is simply a better event for the wca, also the more people doing it argument doesn’t make sense because of course more people are doing clock, it’s a wca event, if FTO were to become a wca event more people would do it and more companies would make hardware for it

Out with the clock and in for Kilominx or Master Kilominx instead? It would be the equivalent to the 2x2 and the 4x4 Cube on the Megaminx side.

I don't think it's fair at all to remove clock in favour of a variant of an existing event. Clock is a very unique event and while technically not being a twisty puzzle, it captures the spirit of it unlike (master) magic. I don't see any good reasons to remove it, unlike feet with it's difficulty to organise and the questionable hygiene.

(also i think that the rise of good results in the past month has been about people getting good at 7simul and controlling nerves in comp, i think the new reg only saves like 0.1 sec. but idk im bad at clock)
@TWCubed8 ай бұрын
@@ryansolves 7-simul is getting to a point where people who learned the method 6-8 months ago are now becoming comfortable, i agree. but i do think that this new reg does help quite a bit, especially considering it can take up to 0.3-0.4s to get the pins to an ideal place to start. with 3.3ish avgs, 0.3-0.4s is a substantial amount
@ryansolves8 ай бұрын
@@TWCubed 0.3-0.4 sec is way too long, i think it's probably about 0.05 to 0.15 at a high level. so yeah i think it definitely helped us get the new records but i dont think it's the main thing - i think people just got better by a lot actually maybe the new reg -> more rounds are being held because less extras and stuff -> better results? i can say all of the confounding variable things yay
