My father was a policeman and whenever he used to work night-shifts we knew that was punishment time coz my mom would remind us of all the wrong things we did that she couldn't punish us for coz my dad would always negotiate for us. If my mom gave me money without me asking for it to go and buy myself candy or something I knew she wanted to leave me so after some time I would politely decline the offer. 😂😂😂

I think I can see my Nigerian mum while growing up in this character. This is typical African/Nigerian Mum behaviour. The joy of it is that when we grow up, we love our Mum like anything. Hardly will you see a Nigerian man that does not love his mum. But growing up was like hell. As for me, I fear my mum more than God. She was a physical 'god' to me while I was a teenager. Too strict and disciplinarian par excellence. My Dad was the quiet easy going father. But today, I'm very grateful to God for my mum. She will be 80 this year. I love you, Mum.

I love our African mothers so much and we must remember also one of the main reasons an African mother is strict with her children. You see when a girl is getting married, I am sure the same goes for most African countries is that where I come from you are given lessons about your soon to be new life as a wife then hopefully a new mother. They will tell you that you are primarily responsible for the running of your home, so if the children go astray, society will first blame the mother and not the father. Especially if the girl gets pregnant while she is still at home and in school. When I was growing up my mother was strict and she would say to us when you misbehave, everybody will blame me, is that what you want?? Where everyone is pointing at me because you did not listen to me. So I always had that in my mind, I did not want our mother being mocked as a result of our being naughty.. I am so thankful to God for the mother he gave me and my siblings. None of us ever got pregnant or slept around until it was time.

As long as you played christian songs, my ma and pa were actually really chill. Even going to a restaurant with a back handed comment about eating healthy and stuff. My oldest bro😂 was the one that was wild.

Lol. " come and eat me" . Is a generational quote in Africa. My mum passed it on to me and I say it not less than twice a day. Very funny
