Great review, Jayce! I think I would be more interested if it didn't have that built-in speaker. All of the other features - the headphone/usbc ports, the app functionality make this a versatile guitar. But, imo, the speaker really makes it look more "toy-ish". Cheers!
@JayceAllanGuitar10 күн бұрын
I find playing with the built-in speaker fun. I just wish it had a tad more volume. I guess they had feedback issues early on and put a volume limit on it. Because the speaker is so close to the pickups.

First, I love your toungue in cheek intros! lol. Second, I have the Enya Novo Go, I bought it because its small scale, travel guitar that my kidscan play and I can play while we camp. We camp and travel quite a bit. it really isn't impacted much at all by temp or humidity. Does it sound great...no, do I care what it sounds like sitting around a campfire with a bunch of drunkin Scotsmen at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in NC.....no I don't. The bagpies drowned it out anyway. It was cheap and stable and works exactly for what I wanted it for. ✌

Well it's great that they are supporting your channel and maybe they are reading these comments and let me tell them to stop making this thing. It's selling now, but it won't continue. Gtrs just tried this and it failed. Manufacturers have been trying to put amp pedals, effects and amps in guitars for generations. They always fail. I guess it's because it's too risky and people have their own gear that they want to use. One way to fix this problem would be to license positive grid, ax effects or maybe line 6.
@JayceAllanGuitar10 күн бұрын
I've been saying in videos that all these types of "innovations" have so far failed to replace the traditional 6 string guitar. I think the onboard speaker is what it is, just for practice. I would never use this for a gig. Maybe the guitar itself but not the onboard stuff.

I’ve had mine for over a year and it’s my most played electric. Rather than turning on my tube amp and pedal board. It’s just convenient to grab and play. Not sure if you noticed but the power on off button is also a volume knob. If you turn up that volume wheel I think you will be surprised at how loud it can get!

Smart of them to make this so old guys like us 😁 can still plug in with a 1/4" cable and play it somehow like a typical guitar. They should make a similar model carbon guitar equipped the normal way, just pickups, switch, knobs. None of the other stuff. Price it lower. They'd sell some, I think. Just throwin' out the idea. I've never shopped or researched this type guitar so somebody's probably making one already that's like I'm suggesting- just the basic electric guitar, but made out of modern material and hopefully still under $500.
@JayceAllanGuitar10 күн бұрын
That's a good idea. They do have a couple "Acoustic" models but I don't think you an plug them in.
@MashaT2210 күн бұрын
Education time! 😉😂 This Enya (and all of these import guitars) are not truly Carbon Fiber. Go have a look at the comment I left on Steve’s video where I explain it more in depth. It’s really injection molded plastic resin with ground up powdered CF material sprinkled inside. It’s better than most plastics, but as guitars, they are extremely easy to break, actually - they shatter and crack. I have heard stories of people’s guitars melting/warping on stands near heaters/radiators over an extended time. The only true carbon fiber guitars that are really indestructible and resistant to the environment are made of bidirectional carbon fiber material, the same that is used by the aerospace and automotive industries. Think the guitars made by KLOS Guitars, Emerald, and McPherson. You can see the bidirectional weave inside and outside (don’t get fooled - some plastic resin composites have veneers made to look like it’s bidirectional CF), kind of like how you identify a truly wood guitar or laminate. Again, go look at my in depth explanation on Steve’s page where I explain better and even show a shattered Lava guitar on the Agufish channel. These import brands are taking advantage of people’s lack of familiarity with composite materials so they just bill that composite plastic resin as being CF when they sprinkle a little CF dust into the plastic. It’s all a marketing gimmick. I’m waiting for some KZbinrs to band together to educate people about this material properly. Few KZbinrs are familiar with it. Even Phil McKnight has told people about his Journey guitar that is also one of these composites, making it sound like it’s a tank when it’s not. I just get upset because people think they are buying something that it’s not, and then many people find out there hard way when it inevitably gets bumped or dropped and that’s the end of it. There’s also no way to repair them when that happens. People are better off saving up for a KLOS if durability and resistance to environmental changes is a factor in the purchase - cause some of these guitars are getting close to the price of a Hybrid KLOS. Hope you’ll go find that post. Maybe you can inspire others to learn more about what these materials really are. I’m not an expert engineer, but I took the time to learn about the science of these materials and what makes sense as far as guitars. Thanks for a great look at this guitar, though! I think the on board speaker could be made to sound much better, but they can’t offer everything at this price point without making concessions. It is meant to be a convenience for practice, and not really be the best sounding. Some people seem to complain about the sound quality. It would have to cost more if they want better speaker sound. P.S. I don’t say these plastic resin guitars don’t sound ok or play ok. But I take issue with the rest of the claims made about durability and environmental resistance that just aren’t accurate.

@@MashaT22 thanks for that. Yeah, unfortunately it wasn’t until after I posted this that I saw a Reddit post about someone who dropped theirs and it cracked. I think this would make a great video. Maybe I’ll get a Klos and do a shootout then drop both of them off my roof! 🤣 That’d be fun. Of course I can be sure Enya guitars would never partner with me again! Hahaha.

@JayceAllanGuitar10 күн бұрын
Yes, you can play it as a regular guitar through an amp, or, run the on-board effects out and into your amp. Might be better with a powered speaker. But I assume if you choose the clean amp setting, you can run it through an amp.

And I had one of those!! Total crap, but it was my first guitar, and it got me started. My friend had one too, and once we had amps, we ripped the little speaker out and made a plate for it - because other people we knew who played made fun of our guitars. Early guitar peer pressure lol. After that, I got an Epi Flying V and I never looked back. Luckily I still have that V and I call it my first "real" guitar.

The Nova Sonic go is my go to practice guitar... and travel guitar... The neck is fantastic and the only way to describe build quality is "too perfect high precision high-tech factory". It's flawless in a way a wood guitar probably just can't be (sorry, variances in materials - even if they are grade AAA). Pickups are decent. My only gripe is it needs a tone knob so you can adjust when you aren't using the built-in effects. The built in effects and speaker are great for practice and jam sessions with someone playing an acoustic... but you aren't to gig or record with the built-in effects. In "plain guitar mode" it's a player.

Question: With the onboard speaker, is it as loud or louder than an acoustic guitar? If you are in a room or backyard playing with some acoustic players, is it loud enough (especially on the clean setting) to play lead and be heard above them? Thanks!

Okay, here's what I found out. I did indeed have the volume on the second (digital) volume knob. So it's way louder than I thought. I played my concert style Eastman acoustic all out and the room sound measured 85 dB at peak. Then selected the clean amp on the Enya, turned both volume knobs to max and got to about 95 dB peak. So 10 dB louder than an acoustic. 95 dB is pretty loud actually. And there really isn't a completely clean sound on the Enya at those volumes, you get edge of breakup.
