Nordic people do not rave to music like this for good reason. It's more of a meditative music piece to connect with nature and ancestry. The "venue" is very remote in the wilderness, it takes hours of hiking to get up there. And they flew all the heavy equipment up by helicopter.

People here go to concerts to listen, and are very attentive audiences. We go to enjoy the music, not people shouting at the artists mid-performance or taking attention from the main event. But depending on the type of concert of course :) Eivør is a treasure and deserves attention, she is a rare gem ♥️

Great reaction! «Trodlabundin» is means «spellbound». This is from an actual consert at the farm «Stigen» in Sogn here in Norway. The consert was held to mark the reopening of the farm after beeing rebuild. There is no roads leading to this place, and there is no electricity. This place and area is on the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. The consert is by a Norwegian band «Vamp», and Eivør Palsdottir is a guest artist and often performs with them. Eivør is a great singer/songwriter by her self, and you may have heard her if you have seen the show «The last Kingdom».

Several years ago I attended a performance in Denver Colorado of Grieg's A minor piano concerto. At the end of the stirring first movement, a few people in the audience began to applaud and then sheepishly stopped when they realized it wasn't quite over yet. I was quite familiar with the work, so I sat there smugly and waited for the next movement. I can't really fault the early applause, as the fist movement could almost stand alone by itself.

Eivør from the same concert in western Norway feat. the band Vamp w/their song "Tir n'a Noir" (again inspired by Irish folk): kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2irgmSLYtp6l7c Apparently the crowd was there for a Vamp concert, explains the full band set up on stage, and they had Eivør with them to contribute on (at least) Tir n'a Noir + this solo guest performance, guess that's why the crowd looked as "spellbound" as many of us from her performance In this song Vamp sings in 🇧🇻 while Eivør sings her parts in 🇫🇴 The concert was also sent in its entirety on NRK (Norwegian public broadcaster)

Now you're ready for Myrkur and her folk-black-metal blend with haunting melodies and crazy vocal styles. The last album is a full nordic folk goodie, while both previous albums delve into dark metal territory with folk elements. "Onde børn" or "Ulvinde" are good starting choices, though anything from her "M" album is good. Also, if you wanna go deeper go straight to Heilung or Ulver, both great bands and live shows. BTW, here in Argentina we would be sitting still just like those people XD

Trøllabundin means "enchanted" in Faroese, so the feeling you felt makes total sense ;) PS I live in Denmark and concerts don't actually go that "clean", but in the Faroe Islands they all know each other (and probably they personally know Eivor), in the audience there were families, etc, so it's normal that they kept their composure. It also happens in Sigur Ros' performances in Iceland, people very calm, sitting on grass just chilling. If you go to a metal festival in Sweden, for example, that looks much different.

Reminds me of an American stand-up comic who came to northern Sweden, he did his routine and he thought he was just misplaced, no one was laughing, screaming or hollering, he got kinda desperate and it messed with him on all levels, like maybe they didn't even understand english? WTF was he even doing there? After the show he was approached by like fifty people saying in perfect english that it was the most fun they ever had. Northerners can be like that I guess.

I understand what you're saying, but it's not about being formal or taking part in a lecture. It's about immersing yourself in the emotions of the music.
