I’m surprised this guy isn’t wearing gloves when he touches the pages. Nice collection.

I work in a museum. We get that question a great deal. As long as you’ve cleaned and dried your hands well, you can handle books. Wearing gloves can actually do more damage. If you’ve ever tried to do a task wearing gloves, it makes sense.

Interesting material, thanks for showing ! A couple of points of order: - the map does not show Europe as Germany saw it in 1941, as Alsace/Lorraine that were annexed in 1940 are not shown to be part of Germany. This would suggest to me the map was rather created in the 1939/1940 timeframe, most probably the latter. - "Chinesische Reich" simply means "Chinese Empire" and is not a term that is specific to Nazi world view.

"Reich" more accurately translates to "realm" or "reach", and does not denote any specific type of government. Empire would be "Kaiserreich".

This brings to mind a much more humble collection that came my way during my decades as a stamp dealer. Among a box of albums and files of chiefly German and territories stamps, one stood out rather conspicuously. (It contained an ordinary enough collection of the stamps from the Nazi puppet state of Slovakia.) On the spine was an embossed eagle and swastika emblem and the word “Wien” (Vienna). Looking inside showed its origin to be police headquarters. There was a fearsome warning in red about misuse or disclosure of contents - punishable by death, with exclamation mark and totenkopf for emphasis. It was a little startling, but not so surprising I suppose, when one thinks about it. Policemen, even in Nazi Germany, convert office supplies to their own use, just like everyone else - as I have discovered on many occasions.

You can be sure, that H. never has seen this album. He was not interested in stamps, only that he got some money for the H-stamps in 1941/44. But even this was not that important to him. You were talking about the Berghof, but this building was bombed at the end of the war and near everything was destroyed. Besides this there were many buildings around the Berghof. The set from Seychellen you showed is from 1952. When it was looted, why should someone include this set afterwards? H. was very national and if he was interested (no, he wasn´t), he would collected something from Austria or the Olympic games 1936 or something of his beloved German Reich. The style of the album could be from that era (the writtin and the colors in red/black), the maps I don´t think. They are not from 1941, especially the frontiers of Germany. Elsaß-Lothringen is not included and I think, the frontier of Poland is too far in the East, but I´m not that strict to it. With this I doubt it is an album from the Berghof or even from 1941 (because of the newer sets) and the maps which are not correct for 1941. By the way: They liked it very accurate at that time, so they would take some more precised maps. You see this sometimes in albums of that era when they have maps in there - very precise. I assume this album is from the 1950s or even later.

The border shown on the map of Asia is just the Oural line separating Europe from Asia. Not any "desired' border between 3rd Reich and rest of Russia. The borders OF Europe confirm that it was designed before jube 1941. With Galicia not yet annexed to the General gouvernement.

Was Hitler known as a stamp collector? It was probably more Heinrich Himmler's who was a known avid stamp collector.

It is unfortunate that you presented this video with many words and few pictures. More than half of the video was spent arguing that this was a collection of stamps held by Hitler. Surely there was some highlights of the album that could have been shown. Also, the one or two pages of stamps shown were so badly 'keystoned' that only a small piece of the page could be viewed. How many pans of a red cover, a title page are needed? A few minutes with someone that does video documentaries would be useful to the maker of this video and could result in a more interesting video.

Can you do another video and show all the stamps, I not interested in seeing the cover and maps so many times. The stamps would have been interesting. I don't think it is Hitler's but it could have been Goering's and he was a collector of everything.

The "looted from the private study by an American GI in Berchestesgaden in 1945" story is extremely unlikely. British bombers heavily hit the Berghof retreat in February- three months before troops arrived, and it was destroyed by fire. The only "souvenirs" recovered there were metal items like spoons with AH on them. This album shows no signs of fire or smoke damage. If it was indeed looted from a personal study, it's more likely to be from the apartment that he kept in Munich, or even more likely from his OFFICE complex in Munich- where the Sudetenland Annexation was signed by Neville Chamberlain. This could have been one of thousands of gifts to him, but there is no mention in the many memoires published by his inner circle, of any interest in stamp collecting. And many presentation book gifted to him were print-inscribed "to the Reichskanzler" or his initials- that kind of thing.

If indeed it was looted from that very location like it is claimed to be, it is amazing there are no more wear and tear on it. Imagine that soldier bringing this sizable item all that way in still mint condition. In my own collection I have a couple of items "looted" like described here although from other (burnt-out and bombed) locations, and inevitably those show significant wear and damage from being tucked away in backpacks and what not during the transport-phase from the site and back to the soldier's destination. Sometimes when things are too good to be true... look up the story of Logan Paul and his $3.5M purchase of fake Pokemon cards that was pre-certified by BBCE...

well, I could very well imagine that this album will appear in one of the following SG auctions. And this Hitler rubbish story is just another marketing nonsense to drive the value as hight as possible. Why does such a traditional company like SG have an urge to make up this kind of strange conspirations without a tiny piece of evidence?
