I've watched Jamie for years now. I can't believe how upset I was seeing the rotator get smashed like that. Don't give up Jamie, keep fighting. The best show on TV. Every crash, I go through how I would recover and tow the wreck, wishing I was doing the jog myself! Glad you are ok Jamie. Great friends you have there.

@@George-dy3pt wasn't it refit though? Even watching the current video the comment Jamie himself makes "everything is brand new" when they flashback to the episode when they got it. When he picked it up it didn't come directly from Los Angeles either. They also had some measurement issues importing it into Canada, due to the overall length. I remember watching this episode when it came out dude. Pretty sure the truck was brand new and the rotator itself is what came from the LA fire department, but I could be backwards.

One good thing is this the rotator can be repaired and be almost like it was before! But can't say the same thing for a human being especially if they lose any part of their body it makes things more difficult to relearn! To Jamie Davis you had to have guardian angels watching over you!

Jamie,I've been watching the show a long time .The rotator can be fixed, get examined by a Doc, you were knocked unconscious, don't be a hero,your family needs you. You could have a concussion, watching c h for changing vision,and headaches .

Have a very close friend that put that rig in service and was assigned to it with LA city for years before it was retired, he just sent me photos of it when it was new and some of the fire department recoveries that he did with it hope you guys get here back on the road.

I've never pulled the cable off the drum but, I always carried the tools to put it back on. When I was being taught, I was always told to leave no less than 5 wraps on the drum.

The reality is it wasn't that kids fault, if there are 2 men on the job it is always the responsibility for the man at the truck to watch the drum and lock it in before too many wraps are taken off the drum... not on the guy 150 feet out in a field to guess how much is left.

Meah, it was a setup for the cameras, winch lines have a clamp on the bitter end, you can't just pull them off the drum like that.

I hated watching those young guys (AJ & Jamie JR) tow that pick-up out of the bog by hooking the tow straps over the tow ball. Take the timeto remove the towball or hook somewhere underneath but NEVER use a towball. They are known to let go and kill people.

I agree I’d rather see a shackle, but that tow ball probably has a 15000plus working load and a breaking strength of two to three times that. They break when some dummy decides to use a tow strap or kinetic rope and a dynamic recovery and the shock load is what snaps them . That pick up is capable over pulling 20000 lbs or more so heavy thing is strong enough.

listen black ice is no fucking joke coming home late one night in my 1981 CJ5 in a white out snow storm following a plow truck doing probs 30-40mph nothing to fast sis was behind me as i had just pulled her out from a ditch (wind blew her right off the road) and i felt the back end let go i pressed the clutch in quick but it was to late i was sideways and headed into the ditch thank god i didnt roll it just put it in 4wd and got back on the road and went home sure did make the ass pucker

I don't know why the "professional" drivers don't slow down at accident scenes. They need to think about how it would feel to be nearly fun over. The idiot who hit Jamie, should have to pay to restore HR 56 to like new condition, plus pay for the loss of income from this accident. Canada should enact a MANDATORY MOVE OVER LAW and lower speeds by 20 kilometers at accident scenes.

You should never pull from the ball, It could break n fly towards the source of the pull. Remove the reciever or at least the ball then use a clevis.

That's not a rookie mistake that's an operator mistake! The operator should have had known and explained that you need a Wrap and a half just stay on the spool of the winch. And of coursework there's the factor of who installed the winch line and didn't tighten the Allen key hold tight enough to secure the line.
