That's the exact tripod I purchased from them and it's fantastic. The one change I made was purchasing long spiked feet that I push into the ground for woodland or soft ground. Ty he long spikes also keep it solidly planted when it's windy.

1:14 I like to hang a weight, usually my camera bag, on my tripod in these conditions, especially if the tripod is lightweight. Adding mass and thus interia, effectively to the camera, dampens vibration and mitigates camera movement from the wind. Quite a few tripods either have a hook or can be equipped with one, such as those that screw into the center column, but even hanging a strap of the bag around the legs will achieve the effect.

What I'd love for these wonderful videos is that you also write what your focus target is under the photo together with the iso/shutter etc. Love the content mate, well done.

Space / weight saving tip: I have a tripod (funny enough K&F as well) that has a second column inside a main one. Extend it, flip it 90° to the side, slide to the middle, so it forms a T shape against the main column. Attach one camera to the ball head at the end, then use one of those little clamps with another ball head to the other end of the T bar, and you can set two cameras on one tripod, facing different ways. I use this setup for time lapses. If you want to go extreme, clip a gopro on a articulated arm to the main column, and you got 3 cameras doing super wide angle, mid range and telephoto on one tripod. I've done it few times, tripod is actually strong and sturdy enough to pull it off.

The scenery and your photos are beautiful. K & F have great products and I’m glad it’s helping to reduce the amount of weight you’re carrying. Maybe that will make those longer hikes easier and more enjoyable. Well done.

K&F Concept's range covers hobby prices too - I have a handful of thir filters, a backpack and lightweight tripod (not CF) from them - money well spent IMO. All I need now is to get up to North Wales and appreciate the scenery you keep showing us! For me the Brecon National Park is only 40 minutes or so away, going North is several hours. Beuatiful shots / video again, Ian. Thanks.

Another great video. The black and white photo at 9.26 (cottage and ship) is my favourite albeit one of many excellent ones. Random question if I may? Do you use top and rear screen protectors? If not, why not? If so, why? Just waiting for my new camera to arrive so I thought I'd ask. Hope you don't mind. Cheers. Ken
@ian_worth8 ай бұрын
Hi ken, thanks for watching, no, I never use screen protectors. I've never felt the need, usually the camera is well protected in the bag. 👍

@@ian_worth Screen protector manufacturers urge us to buy them to protect our screens whilst camera manufactures say not to use them as they may adversely affect how touch screens work. It's all very confusing. Hence my reason for asking you as a working professional. Thanks very much for taking the time to answer my query Ian. It's very helpful. 😃

Great video Ian! Have you considered a stone bag for the tripod? I use one and it really anchors the tripod when I put a rock in it. Also good for holding filters and lenses when changing gear.

I've got a great copy of the 10-24 WR so that's my WA of choice. Instead of the 16-55, I went with the 16-80mm which pairs perfectly with the 70-300mm. I can go either XH2 or XT5 depending on what I'm doing. My GoPro Hero 11 is complete junk, it works 50% of the time and I want to replace it with something that actually works. I may go with the DJI Action 4 or the Pocket Osmo 3. I wonder if the Action 4 has been reliable for you, and if you like it?

Hi Ian! I've been watching your videos for a while now - great stuff. I'm wondering about IBIS usage though. I've shot with Pentax cameras for very many years (they were fairly early with IBIS) and have come to the conclusion that if one is going to use the IBIS (as I usually do - not often I get the tripod out) then one can happily drop the shutter speed quite it a bit and let it do it's job, thereby negating the need to get the tripod out and/or increase ISO. My understanding is that it isn't necessarily going to do a better job of stabilizing the shot just because the shutter speed is a little higher - more that it either manages it, or it doesn't. If conditions/requirements are such that I shoot on a tripod then I always turn it off (indeed the camera always turns it off itself if one uses the self timer). My (unscientific) conclusion has been that one gets better results that way and thus I was somewhat uncertain about the approach of trying to keep as high a shutter speed as possible but then putting the IBIS on as extra bonus/security. Any thoughts/experiences on this?
@ian_worth8 ай бұрын
Interesting comment, I would have shot this handheld had I not been filming myself as well. Sometimes its easier to put the camera on a tripod when I'm filming. The tripod was moving so much in the wind I was probably being over cautious with my shutter speed but I would rather get a sharp photo than not. Some of the fuji lenes like the 70-300 actually recommend leaving ibis on when on a tripod. I've done a lot of tests over the years and found its only worth turning ibis off for long exposures with my kit. Every system is different though 👍👍

I would love to have that 70-300 mm, but my finances don't allow it. Then there is a 50-230 mm, which costs half as much; and I am very tempted by it, but I am afraid, on the one hand, of losing those70 mm of longer, it is not sealed or stabilized, (although the tripod is there for a reason ) and also having the 18-55 mm, I have continuity in the photo angle, while with the 70--300 mm there is a jump between 55 to 70 mm.While I shoot with an old 70-300 mm manual, sometimes I get the photo right, other times they come out of focus. I need a push......
