I’ll never quite understand people who use their pocket knives for food prep. First, why not just use a petty knife? It’s infinitely better for the job. Second, my pocket knives would almost always require a thorough cleaning before I would ever want them touching food. They are usually covered in tape gunk or some sort of dirt/dust from things I’ve been cutting.

Instead of a month long single knife carry, how about a month long genre carry? A small Mora in scout carry could be the typical, but on days you're doing yard work a "mini"-chette, on others maybe a boot carry. I like how the challenge "sharpened" your opinion of tantos. Here's another month challenge, Tanto Tuesdays (pick a month with 5 tuesdays) Reverse tanto (Pro-Tech Malibu), Japanese style tanto, budget (Ontario RAT 1 or 2), etc. And other monthly genres could be thumb studs, hole-y knifes (other than Spyderco), front flippers.

As a third generation firearms guy who hung out in my Grandfather's Gunshop starting at around 4, first target shooting at 6, first deer at 11 all while cutting hay in the field and raising calves for burcher we carried and used a lot of knives and other bladed tools, many of witch I still have heading into my 40s as well as working with custom gunsmiths so I do understand that prices are based on the time and materials put into a product. With that said I personally wouldn't spend 1k USD on a pocket knife unless I was at sufficient wealth to the point that 1k is just a drop in the bucket or I could use the cost of it as a business expense and claim it on taxes but if a person has the means to do so then more power to them and I hope they will enjoy it. As a DIY guy I would rather spend the money on tooling and learn to make something myself to suit me.

Is a knife "worth" $1000? Probably not... Was my sebenza worth $400? Again, nah. However, in the scheme of things, it really isn't all that much if you're into your knives and it's the one you want.. it's rare that this kind of money will genuinely buy someone the "best" of anything. Is it a lot of money? Sure! But ultimately, it ain't that much.. ultimately, it's up to the individual whether or not something is worth their money. Does the Norseman speak to me? Not really. Most knives don't. But there's plenty of people who'd call me crazy for owning a sebbie. Hell, even my $130 Spyderco dragonfly would be considered extravagant by some.

I like the Norseman aesthetic, but I don't think there's even an argument that it's actually worth greater than $350-$450. When you compare it to other custom knives, or high-end production with the materials, complexity of design, etc it's not 2-3x the value. Does the hand made box and the tools it comes with come into the price of the knife or could you turn around and sell it without all that stuff for $1k? I would have liked to have seen an unboxing from the beginning showing the box and the items it comes with. I'm not sure everyone knows how this was packaged and presented let alone what goes into the production of it and how limited it is. To me, all of those details come into play for the price of it and how one might go about answering the question of worth. And believe me, I'm not a fan of it but I can appreciate the effort, and the attention to detail it took to produce it. Now I am definitely looking forward to seeing you LS swap that Rover. Keep up the great work Taylor.

Your humble confession that you are not smart enough to think of thinks others had not thought was a nice touch. However, I find you above average in intelligence. So don’t run your self down too strongly. Love your videos.

No way I'd carry a $1K knife in my pocket. It's certainly a work of art, but far too expensive for daily use.

It looks cool, but no knife is worth 1000 dollars, all knives cut, even with the best steel available, the most i can logic seeing any knife being is 2 to 300 bucks, anymore than that, and its a waste of money

I enjoy the content but prefer to stick in the under $100 range with every item of my edc because I can beat on them and not feel bad. I bought a used car for $1000!

I would spend that kind of money if there was a knife I was absolutely in love with. But I definitely do not see it with this one. I think the design is awkward and ugly, and nothing about it says it’s worth anything close to that kind of money to me personally

Am I the only person who doesn’t use their knives for food? The thought of the oil from the knife along with other things you open get into your food, makes me shiver lol hopefully he washes the blade before cutting lol

You shouldn't use knives to cut zip ties. Great way to dull a blade quick and hurt yourself simultaneously. It is not worth 1k from a knife standpoint but is from a design, conversation starter and a good one to have if you enjoy small makers, unique pieces or if it brings you joy

Sure, you can use many other things (like scissors or wire snips) but those aren't always handy. And if you're careful, there's nothing any more dangerous about cutting a zip tie with a knife than any other tough material. The worst part is the wear it puts on the knife.

@@BestDamnEDC i only disagree because I earned myself some stitches cutting one putting up a baby gate with a small 21. 😄 you may be able to but I can't...anymore. i also own a norseman and love what the Grimsmos have done with it but don't desire it from a strictly cutting perspective

I also own a norseman and feel the way that you do. The quality is amazing however the blade shape was and has been uncomfortable in a way. I did pay $975 i love the quality but the blade shape is questionable

As you often point out, EDC items are quite personal, so really, nobody should attempt to justify dropping $1k on a knife. If they can afford it, and they want it, have at it. If you go down the route of justification, you are reassuring yourself, and well, then maybe if you have to do that, it wasn't such a comfortable purchase. I doubt I'd drop $1k on a knife, and I wouldn't drop $1k for that knife, I think the blade shape is trying a little too hard to differentiate itself from other knives, and there's a reason (utility) most blades have smoother lines.

In one day I watched Nick Shabazz's wife describe the blade shape as douchey and you play guess that price with your wife. Both of which were highly amusing. But really, as I understand it these are 500 dollar knives that were in such demand that they were trading at 1000.00 so that is where the makers set the price. Actually carrying and using it is very brave of you. I would never risk loss or harm to one if I had one.

I've had my Norseman now for a few months. I've carried it everyday since it came in. It's the most expensive knife I own, but I do own a few knives I'd put into the same category as the Norseman. All of those though are $450 knives. In my opinion, the Norseman's original price of $500+ (depending on finish options) was perfect. But since John and Eric can't make these things fast enough to keep up with the insane demand, the prices increased. Hopefully they're operation can grow large enough for production to meet demand. Until then, we're stuck with higher and higher prices
