Hey I get the sweaty helmet a lot and I found wearing a headband is game changer for comfort on those long climbs

Climbing is the charge to descend. It is a fun park, in the right conditions. IMO, it is in general a little more advanced than what a person just getting into riding (first timers) should attempt, even the green trails. That is my concern, that people will be discouraged so fast and dump the sport. I was caught out there in a rain storm, everything turned to slim, Carolina Grease as I called it. If there (when there) is an easier route into the center of the park, I could see where it is more open to first timers, beginners. The trails at the center hub were all great and easy to advance skills with short runs. The initial climb on Papertown Express is demanding and the shout run on Bear Country is sketchy without experience. Went to Ober Mountain in Gatlinburg to their new downhill park. It is awesome with trails for everyone. Even beginners.

For sure! I’m thinking about hitting Ober next week - I love that they’re open weekdays

Now that I know how much of a climb it is, it won't be so bad, as I kept thinking I was close to the top but just kept seeing more climb. It's a long way up, but it's not a technical climb. Fun downhill, solid blue, not something for a beginner to cut their teeth on a blue trail.

75 minute climb? I can't remember how long it took me after they opened it last November.

Yeah I don’t rush climbs lol. Just put it in granny gear, never out of the saddle, and I don’t even grasp the handlebars I just lay my hands on top. #fat

@@DescentAtBest I'm the same when I'm by myself. I enjoy the climb and save all my energy for the down. Also had the chance to ride the Old Fort Gateway trails this past weekend. So fun.

takes me about 40-45 minutes, in decent shape but definitely out of breath. It's pretty steep especially at the top.
