I healed very quickly from my two first session but they were dot work with some sparse regions/negative space. I only had to cover it for 48 hours and was 'dry' after that. I still covered it but with a cloth bandage just to prevent contamination. It went through a peely stage like sunburn for a week. The whole thing including time to heal was like a bad sunburn. My new work is denser so am anticipating more scabbing though. In terms of full healing - I'd say about 3 months when it has gone through the silvery stage that scarring usually has before its reached is equlibrium - in the case of black work when it no longer looks more black than older (but not much older) black work.

I'm not brave enough to do a dry heal. 😬
@somesortofdeliciousbiscuit37044 жыл бұрын
@@Inkademic Looks like heavier work than mine though - I won't be dry healing until Friday - even then I'll cover during the day. I usually wear a long-sleeved compression shirt over it when exercising, less chafing and it goes straight in the wash, but not doing that until its dry.

This really reassured me after some unexpected changes after my most recent tattoo. My plan was also tegaderm, and similarly, exercised with it on and had a lot of moisture and had to remove the tegaderm. I was also in another country without easy access to more tegaderm. (Tattoo was done in Rome, i live in the US) This is my second tattoo and my artist was great, but the healing process this time was different from the last without the tegaderm. My artist has been fantastically supportive, long distance, but every day it looks different and feels different. Thanks for sharing!

It's easy to get inside your own head before your first. I agree with Julio, basically: if you're sure you want it, it should be something to look forward to (but that doesn't mean it won't make you anxious, given it's a brand new experience and, regardless of what anyone tells you, it will hurt at least a little bit, somewhat like drawing on a sunburn with a toothpick).

@@guitarofdestiny It was awesome, everything went great! It is easier than you think. In my case, It hurts like hell, almost 3 hours of pain but at some point, you stop minding about it, pain comes and goes depending on the area of the tattooing. I had a 7cm idea but my tattooer convinced me to go bigger and now I have a 20 cm piece of art in my leg, I don't regret it at all the artist In choose is very talented so he did magic haha. It healed very quickly because I was very meticulous about the aftercare, I followed every single instruction of my tattooer and the recommendations I researched, the peeling started within a week and It was itchy as hell for almost 4 days but I never scratched, for me that is the worst part of the aftercare, trying not to scratch, sometimes the itch woke me up in the middle of the night of how bad it was, nothing that a little bit of tattoo balm can fix. It was almost healed by the second week and now It's perfect. I still wash with antibacterial soap and moisturize with tattoo balm once a day, when I reach the month I'll start showering normally as always :D

Just got my third tat after a year from the first and second. Totally forgot what tattoo looks like in healing process. Was panicking because it was red for 4 days and realised that I slightly over moisturized so I cut off some. It is a bit tighted, itchy and some scabbing are forming on day 5 and the redness has went down significantly, some still there. I really appriciated this video because when you search for day to day healing, most of them are just written articles and just talking. Yes it is helpful but without the visual, you can't really understand what they talking about. I appreciated to have a close up visual because, obviously, I can see much more details of my tat in person and what happening. But when you watch on a screen, it doesn' truly show the states it in like the crackling, the peeling etc and it really hard to see on some pics and vides because they are so far away and the tat look well fine. So now I can fully know the stated my tat at and be careful with lotion amount and surviving the whole process. Thank you 👍👍

I used a little bit of aquaphor on the really sensitive parts. The parts that weren't really irritated I pretty much left alone until week 2. Then it was pretty much just gold bond ultra healing over the entire tattoo until I stopped pealing and it came out amazing. It's very easy to over apply the aquaphor and leads to scabbing, so I just used it to relieve the really irritated areas. With that method I got no scabbing at all. Every time before I would use aquaphor on the whole tattoo the first week and kept scabbing up everywhere. Everyplace I scabbed I had to get a touch up. Didn't need a single spot touched up on this last one.

In my nape part it got swollen unlike the bellow part was okay so I got worried. My tattoo artist said it was normal but im still a bit worried. And then it started to scab and got me worried more (also the bottom part scabbed as well but it didn't get swollen) I'm on day 6. The scabs slowly started to peel and its not that swollen anymore. This video really helped. Though I am a bit worried that my tattoo seems like to fade but my tattoo artist said it was normal. And I trust him he does all of my tattoos. So i'll see how this goes

Once I got my color done, I was super weirded out by the onion skin, so thank you for being the voice of reason telling me it’s OK! 😍

Your voice is so calming. Thanks for the video. Getting my 2and tatoo soon. My 1st one is on my back so I couldn't really see the healing process.

It's amazing how every tattoo I get, they heal completely different. The worst is when I get these big silver skin coverings over some of my work for upwards of 3 months. I hate it. Dealing with it right now on a wrist piece I just got. There's one small detail on it that is so clouded over that you can't even make out the small tooth in the piece. I always worry that the detail will be lost forever, but sure enough it comes back. To me, that's amazing though. The fact that skin can move in a sense, but return perfectly to the way that it was as it de swells so-to-speak

I have more linework done so i don't have these big patches. Im at day 5 and it started to itch alot today, and not only because this mosquito found its way to my fresh tattoo -.- anyways. I use a tattoo recovery cream (made by a tattoo artist and a pharmacist) en it keeps my skin very moist, even in the morning its not completely dry. And i don't overdo it. I use it 3 times a day now and wash my tattoo 2 times a day with tattoo soap. I also have diabetes and tend to take about a week longer than others in the healing process. Can't wait till mine is healed and especially the itching..

S'what I always tell folks: the process is temporary and you just need to fight through it. The result is permanent and you want to ensure it's as good as possible. Simple (but sometimes hard) choices make all the difference.

Glad to hear it! Just make sure you keep an eye on it, regardless, since this is really what's normal for me and maybe not everybody. Even on my various work, the healing processes have gone differently, so there's tons of variation even on the same person (which you're seeing now!).
