To be fair after gen 1 the names turned to shit and they are literally impossible to know unless you played the game. I could probably list all original 151 in order but I didn't even know the starters of this series.

I mean if you don't know a Pokémon's name, you probably won't be able to guess it, that's the same for all of them in every generation. Generation 1 was just when the series was most popular so more people know the Pokémon in it. Not to mention the anime, merchandising etc. Personally I'm a massive fan of the series and could name all 800+ Pokémon but I wouldn't expect someone who hasn't actually played the games to know them

@@Jayyemi I feel like gen 1 was mostly based around animal names or saying what you see, and their evolutions followed a pattern. Anything past gen one and it's crap shoot of complete nonsense. Like bulbasour is a dinosaur with a bulb, snorlax is snoring and relaxing, arbok is kobra, sandslash is made of sand and slashes. You can pretty much guess their names. Most of the new ones are just alien or robot looking with dumb names because they gave up trying.

@@bloodredroses88 Yeah that's a garbage opinion so many of the pokemon names are still half of an animal name combined with something else, all of the gen 8 pokemon with names clearly derived from animals that I noticed, Grookey, Thwakey, Rillaboom, Scorbunny, Raboot, Inteleon, Rookidee, Corvisquire, Corviknight, Blipbug, Orbeetle, Chewtle, Boltund, Silicobra, Sandaconda, Cramorant, Arrokuda, Barreskewda, Sizzlipede, Centiskorch, Clobbopus, Grapploct, Pincurchin, Frosmoth, Cufant. And that's just with animal names, its fair to not like it I'm not saying you need to, but their naming conventions haven't really changed much, maybe every now and then they might throw in something wacky especially with legendaries or the german for a mon like Zweilous, but I could say the same thing about Gyarados, Gengar, Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam.

I think this quiz is easier than the first cause the quiz maker is assuming things about Dan that Dan would never know. There’s no chance he knows Politoed is at all related to Poliwrath or that Marill and Pikachu are associated with each other so you can remove the associations with old names.

I think the reality is he simply had no clue for a lot of them. Most of Gen 1 felt like Dan was right there, this there were some he probably had never really seen before or didn't recognize. I personally still think it was a lot of fun though.

I definitely miss the introspective anecdote KZbin NL and it seems that has basically disappeared except for Isaac. Especially since Twitch NL can be a little snarky/salty at chat for me. But this is the way you have to go nowadays if you are a video game content creator and want to remain relevent in the market. And I think his KZbin content is still well planned. Not just 4 hour uploads of streams. Still puts the effort in for the KZbin audience.
