The original company fell on tough times and was sold and the brand has been bounced around. I completely agree that we need to support HPI more, I've had a nitro savage and the nitro firestorm and they were great! Honestly I miss them, and i want to see HPI continue to produce their awesome products.

@@rcdriver They need to update their models though. Jaytee just bought a trophy truggy and it's the same thing as years ago. I hope if they are coming back they update all their models. I wasn't impressed what he paid for what he got but id love updated hpi models also!!

Paid 231usd from new in my country. Absolutely love the thing, so much fun! Another reviewer said best in class, and that it would fly off the shelves at around 250usd. Really happy with my purchase.

I’m very encouraged to see this video now because it means that HPI is alive and kicking! I’ve been trying to get some parts for my truck and a lot of the items are still unavailable to order at my local shop (I’m in Canada). I’ll should ask them to reach out to HPI or the distributor for updates on availability.

It does have speed. I know people like lots of power and it’s 3S capable, but this truck is just a blast on 2S, it’s like 3S isn’t even necessary.

I have 3 HPI cars and LOVE to see them back in business again! When the Savage Flux XS came I ordered it «for my wife». And later realised I bought a really bad ass car and not a rookie car for her. She soon did donuts around my HPI Baja 5B 😂

I miss my hpi nitro mt stadium 4x4 truck. It was stable, tough and so easy to tune. Still have my nitro hellfire truggy happy they are back

Owned one for years super strong little truck , rear diff drive cup will wears out quickly so i fitted universal joint drive shafts . also the speed controller will stop working if you get the fan connector wet, not really a big problem will work again once its dry just put a blob of on it to keep water out. i have jumped mine about 15 feet into the air and it landed on a fence post and it still didn't break.

I have one of the original flex xs. It is always been one of my favorites out of the 25 or so r/c I have. I think it is rated up to 3s but it is out of control on 3s. I will never get rid of it.

Ya I love HPI I had my first nitro a original release Savage X. This was just after the SAVAGE 25. Man it was a cool truck. I just ordered myself the new Re-release Savage Flux XL

It's interesting to see that HPI is still rolling with the TVP platform. They gotta be one of very few these days. And those bumpers! Hardly changed. They look almost identical to the bumpers on my Savage 25 which will be getting resurrected in the spring with a new .28 engine.

I love this video and I loved my Xs. Problem is, to this day, there is still virtually no replacement parts, from HRP, the only dealer now, or anywhere. I'm not willing to sink 3+ into a truck that I can't get parts for. It's sad, because it's an awesome truck.

On another note, I’ve been doing some maintenance on the center gearbox and wanted to try to get rid of the “chatter” sound that it makes. I find it so noisy when you just roll it a bit by hand, and it seem that your new model also has the same sound. It seems to me there is a lot of play between the idler gear and the plastic case. I was thinking of putting shims on either side of the gear between the bearings and the case. I’m curious what you think about that chatter sound.

I love HPI but I will have to wait to see how stable the parts support and product support will be before I sink cash into one. It's a pickle because they wont have parts support for something that doesn't sell but things won't sell without parts support

Better buy about 100 axles for that thing they can't handle 3s I sold mine after 10 runs probably. Broke and axle every time I tried 3s the esc caught fire 🔥🤨

This truck is the opposite of a backyard basher unless you live on an acre! Way too fast, even on 2S. You can't keep it on four wheels if you're on 3S, it's insane. Also, be sure you have extra slipper pads on hand...they burn up easily! I've had a few of these trucks over the years and ultimately, it's just a beast - almost too much truck, even tho it's only 12th scale. And the standard tires are garbage...if you can find a set of Big Joe IIs or the HPI Yokohama Geolanders you'll be doing much better.

And here I am sat with 3 Savage Flux's behind me, bought one second hand for my father, built one out of spares for my Mrs and mine started life as a 2010 Savage X 4.6. Have a Savage XS sat in a spares box in pieces after I thrashed it on 3s and it only ever broke a single arm and some parts of the drivetrain though I will revive it at some point. It's a shame HPI are slowly slipping away.

I would say that since a company decided to buy HPI, they probably have confidence in the brand, designs, and the probability that many people are patiently waiting for the comeback story. If the new owners didn’t see a solid future, no way they would have bothered to make a move. Here’s to hoping I’m right!

I read about people having issues with that. Not sure if they fixed it, but mine didn’t back off after all the runs I put on it. Sounds like there is a fine line on having it adjusted properly.

The mavrick is hpi. They are back I am waiting on new parts. Drivecups from the centre drive. I've heat treated my out drives. Just need to spend more money on the HD driveline

Crashed mine on 4s into a metal fence so hard we had to dig it out, drove it for another hour They are solid but on 3s and if you decide to go 4s it eats the driveline

Not really you can acces the front diff by opening 4 screws amd remove the rear drive train with 3 screws. HPI Savage was always repair friendly verhicles.

Something that will work well, and then they get to install options or upgrades that THEY desire to make it their own as they can afford it. This is what RC modeling is all about.
