Then again, I'm only in the city for about 90 minutes per visit and I make it a point to schedule my appointments in the morning. I'm usually out of Compton by 10:30 am. More people tend to be out in the streets later in the day and so there is a greater chance of having a possible unpleasant encounter. I estimate Compton is about 60% latino, 39% black and 1% white. I have never seen asians in Compton unless they were there working in the liquor stores and/or fast food restaurants. I agree with what the gentleman with the barbeque food truck said, Compton is for the most part just a city with mostly working class people. The crazy years of Compton (80s and 90s) are a thing of the past. The first part of your video is on Atlantic and Compton Blvd (East Side of Compton) which is about 90-95% Latino nowadays. The park across the street (Dominguez Park) is where Serena and Venus Williams practiced their tennis as kids. It used to be the territory of the Lime Hood Piru (black gang) that is long gone as the neighborhood changed demographics. They still have a lot of blacks on the Westside of Compton on Central Ave (probably a third). Compton still can get active nowadays but only effects a few people (cops, gangsters, drug addicts, security). Your normal civilian wont even notice.

I work as a Handyman all throughout areas of LA county, SB county and OC county. I've worked in Compton quite a few times. You'll be surprised that some of the houses if not many are upwards of 750k and 1 million ~~ not sure why people sit here and try and paint this bad picture. If your looking for trouble though you'll surely find it imo.

Compton was dangerous back in the 80s and 90s. Now it's just parts of L.A. that are risky like certain areas of Long Beach, Inglewood (Lennox), and South Central. The worst areas are suburbs like San Bernardino, Moreno Valley, Palmdale, & Landcaster.

Compton has improved in areas such as crime over the last 10-20 plus years, soley because large numbers of Latino families have been moving into the Compton area, replacing and diminishing the negative ghetto culture that before dominated the area. The predominantly black gangs remain but are mostly under the table and relegated to smaller area's. Ive been living in the area since I was a kid.

I’m from Long Beach and we boarder Compton. The demographics have changed. My former neighborhood is 90% Hispanic. The billboard at my junior high school is in Spanish. I’ll assume the rest of the area is the same. There are more businesses than when I grew up there and the homes have burglar bars on about 98% of them. Sad in a way, however it’s thriving.

Brotha, I grew up in north side Long Beach back in the mid 1980's, one block from Compton off Long Beach Blvd. What Compton was back then is nothing what it is today. Back in the 80's, it was about 90% African-american and 10 % Salvadoran. Now, it's mostly hispanic. Growing up then, was hearing gun shots on a regular basis in the late night hours. I moved out of the area in the late 80's and didn't go back to visit my old neighborhood on 69th Way until 2020. We were one of only three Mexican-american families in probably a 5-6 block radius. I attended Jordan High and most of my friends were African-american and never had a bad experienced.

@@hectortavares6352 by 1990 it was already 50 percent Hispanic. Today it’s 70 30.

People associate Compton with the ghetto when it far from that. Big houses with front and back yards, agriculture, commercial, you name it we got it.

With all due Respect, but it appears you didn't do your homework regarding Compton. Them videos your talking about are "OLD" and even back then there was More Raza than one might expect. Also ... at Night the atmosphere in all neighborhoods change. Compton has it's Gang Life if you're looking for it.

The truth of the matter is there’s more crips, bloods, Latino, Asian etc. gangs than ever before, you not gonna see no gang member out there exposing them selves. You gotta know some one that knows someone to get to go out.

Most people think about Compton through the lens of movies and music videos I get so mad when I see people who never lived in Los Angeles talk online like they’ve been there
