I actually bought the $580 eBay auctioned coin (the one with 20 bids) in July, hoping the photos didn't do the coin justice. In your estimation, did I overspend? I also managed to acquire another PCGS MS64 version of this coin in June for $2200. Was that a reasonable price? Heritage Auctions very recently (10 days ago) sold a lesser version of PCGS MS64 for US$1560.

Hello, excellent questions. I just took a look at the auctioned coin. The $580 price seems to be in line with the base price range for the coin. Given its rarity and desirability, it should perform fine over time. There are sold examples anywhere from $300 to $700 all in similar condition. Once you step into the uncirculated grades the market really takes off. Given that there are MS62 grades selling north of $3000 I think you've more than covered your bases with the second buy. An MS64 example would be a really nice addition to any collection. My favorite price to pay is $0.20 but it's only happened 3 times over the years. We don't noodle that often any more but they are still out there!

1977 has that back with the duck billed platypus, I want to say it said Great Britain.not certain Is it valued very high?

This coin was struck in Australia in 1977 but unless it's a variety or higher grade I don't think it will generally be of a high value for most years. There are a few British coins featuring the platypus but I think they're all overseas territories commemoratives, mostly in silver. I haven't researched those but Numista and eBay will have some info.

1970 20 cent coin circulated is worth face value. Slabbed MS65 condition price is around $80 AUD.
