So torn on this one. As a lifetime Norwood supporter and member (65years now) and a Sainter since 1967, I want Harry to stay, as he is a marvelous player, BUT, he would fit in like a glove to any team needing strength and power and is highly mobile. If he stays I win, if he goes I win. Let us see

We need a 2 ruck combination, I've always been a fan of that....your 2nd ruck can go forward along with king and stretch the opposition backing....love his stat's...let's get him!!!!!!

Harty Boyd had a outstanding season for Norwood in the SANFL this year. Infact Boyd's past two years in the State League was exceptional. He is a smart ruckman who gets plenty of the ball for his teammates. Boyd possession numbers have been amazing and his presence at both ends of the ground is high quality. Boyd is too good for the SANFL competition and he is ready for the AFL and many good judges believe his best football is still to come. The Saints would benefit enormously with the services of Big Harry Boyd.
@johns1265 күн бұрын
His clearance work is incredible- miles ahead of any midfielder in the SANFL last year. As a Ruckman this is an amazing stat.
@davidknight38266 күн бұрын
Correct me if I'm wrong but sounds like Boyd is Nank the Tank. Hope thats the case, throws his weight around a bit, hopefully quality hit outs to advantage and allows Marshall to be the 50+ Goal forward we know he can be
@mebeasensei5 күн бұрын
I believe we were at our best with Paddy Ryder and Rowan Marshall on the field at the same time. Now Rowan Marshall fans don’t like that because Rowan Marshall’s stats are greatly diminished, but St Kilda as a whole was more formidable. And in the end, that is what counts.
@timayris33754 күн бұрын
True but we have to remember Ryder was a phenomenal player. I'd be glad if they gave it another go though.

Led the SANFL in clearances and hit-outs in 2024 Jakey. 300+ hit outs more than the ruckman in second and won clearances over the mids by 70. Guy is a fair jet!

@MrAnthonyRoger5 күн бұрын
I like the idea of Max getting in the ruck a bit more and just getting a bit more feel for pace of the game and how it looks from outside the arc. Given the injury risks aren't what they used to be for rucks I think that switch is the way forward. But we need a backup if Ro gets injured.
@ImThomo4 күн бұрын
Seems like a great fit. Saints need a ready made back-up to help Rowan. 100% better than plucking a forward/backman for the duties.
@willmuskens30804 күн бұрын
If he was called JACK Boyd he'd be a certainty to come to Moorabbin... But jokes aside, he looks pretty good to me, the right age profile and I imagine the standard of play in SANFL might be better than the VFL, which means he could well be like Callum Wilkie and becomne a successful ruckman in the AFL!
@deanjackson30975 күн бұрын
Unless they are prepared to play him with Marshall (ie play 2 rucks) I don't see the point, I would rather them draft a true tall forward or back and use Heath or Keeler if Marshall gets injured. Personally, I think we need a genuine tall ruckman which, IMO, Marshall isn't. I'm a huge fan of King being the 2nd ruck and Ross Lyon did mention that last year. Everyone suggests that King shouldn't ruck as he might get injured. That's complete rubbish, rucking would have to be the least likely place to get injured on a football field under the current rules/interpretations. Perfect example, Daniher rucking for Brisbane. And to add, I think it would be very beneficial to Kings development as a footballer.

@alankffooty6 күн бұрын
I think he'll be a rookie pick. 26 year old at 198cm, other clubs probably consider him undersized and too old so likely won't be a national draft consideration. Max Heath promoted to the senior list yesterday...common practice for there to be 2 rucks on senior list and 1 on rookie list A club would be passing on a lot of high-quality young talent if they were to take him in the national draft
@SaintsTVPod6 күн бұрын
Either way think it's worth the punt - looks like a good fit and low risk that fits an absolute need from a list perspective.

If he's one of the best rucks in the country would he fall that far? Feels like we'd have to use 32 if we want him. Or possibly trade back into the 2nd/3rd round?
@SaintsTVPod6 күн бұрын
Good call! Perhaps package some late picks to move back into an earlier round. We do need to consider the fact we need points for academy picks too
@PlatinumPeteChannel6 күн бұрын
@SaintsTVPod possibly. Think Hoffman & Peckett might get through as rookies. Cole might attract a bid. Think we take our early picks, grab a ruck at 32, match a bid on Cole then rookie the other two. Could split pick 8 or trade a future pick to get back in, otherwise leave a spot open for pre-season. So many options!
